This is more of just an idea I have been thinking of lately, but what if communism (that being, the idea of communism/socialism, hence forth called just simply communism for simplification,) had been around during the French revolution? I can draw a few similiarities between France and Russia around their revolutions. They both were in massive debt (Funding the American Revolution for France and WW1 for Russia), the lower class was being treated horribly in both cases with nobles/clergy etc. abusing the lower classes, there was widespread hunger, I could go on. Anyway, I believe that if those ideas had been around at the time in France, and there was a popular speaker (e.g. Lenin), a Socialist regime would take hold in France. However, I want to hear what you all have to say and maybe we can have a nice (i.e. friendly and not full of brainless & mad arguing, douchebaggery, etc.) debate over what you think would happen.
