Sorry Im late, but the war does starts about a year after world war 2.
Well then, this has benefits for both sides. For the USSR, Western Europe is rather undefended at this point because the US has withdrew most forces while the native nations haven't totally rebuilt their own force capabilities. For the West, however, this means they can quickly begin mass atomic attacks and the USSR is just coming out of a famine. The Soviets might be able to overrun large portions of Free Europe, but they'll get smashed back within a few months and then its the endgame for them.
By 1946, the Soviets had already annouced their own project.
My prediction for a war in 1947, 48 or 49.
Seems like good predictions, though are you sure Yugoslavia wouldn't be USSR alligned due to pressure from the Soviet Union?
The Soviets will probably preform well for the first six to eight months, then things will fall apart for them. Western Nuclear and Aerial supremacy, the ability to quickly call up recent veterans as well as arm them, and finally the fact the Soviet heartland was already wrecked from the last conflict basically ensures their defeat. As I mentioned earlier, they had just come out of a major famine for one. Heck, there was still Anti-Soviet partisans operating in the area of Ukraine and Poland.
Probably they would.
An there were anti-Soviet partizans still holding out in Lithuania.
