Hi everyone. I’ve been lurking on the site for years and been editing my contributions here and there every now and again.
I’m interested in really contributing to my article in the Doomsday universe, a new one, as well as original timelines.
I’m thinking of setting up some king of Anarchist collective somewhere, but I have to look up areas where anarchist ideas were present before 1983.
As it stands, are my current edits for Hubei and proposals reasonable? I have a lot of thoughts about where to take it, as this country could become a third party to the RoC and PRC due to its geographic position in the Central China Plain, access to river systems, and diverse agricultural and mineral resources. According to maps I’ve collected, there are also oil fields located in the area.
It is my reasoning that after the civil war which will devastate much of the area, save Suizhou, can lead to rapid growth. The reason is that the people will want things to become normal again after a brutal dictatorship and the chaos of the 80s, and will even tolerate another quasi-dictatorship so basic services and the economy can stabilize.
One thing that would lead directly to rapid expansion is the changing role of the military. Because the new regime is a successor to both RoC and PRC, it considers itself the legitimate government in China. The military thus conscripts every able bodied person in the state between the ages of 18 and 45. This is done to aid in asserting control in the province, build infrastructure, and exert influence beyond the province. A major role of scouting operations is to spread the ethos of the republic beyond its borders.
A large reason to expand is to resettle refugees in new lands, which is theorized to grow its economic base through new workers and taxable citizens. And to grow the military. Because of the massive population decline, I could see the government using abandoned buildings as a precursor to vertical farms. They could be insulated with protect from radiation. This could be beneficial.
The expansions and Hubei’s recent interests in industrializing are just that, recent. I’m thinking there’s going to be a series of three expansions. One to consolidate Hubei from 1991-1994. Two to expand slightly into Henan and Hunan, as with the 2015 map, between 2000-2008. And the third one into the Huguang and Zhongyuan regions 2015-18.
I foresee a war between this Republic and the Dragon State and Nanchang as a part of Hubei’s rush to the sea. It is currently engaged in psychological warfare in both states by airdropping pamphlets.
I’m also looking into whether or not it is viable for Guangxi to integrate into this state or vice versa, or a mere Alliance. An alliance could be possible with Yunnan since it is expanding into what is now Chongqing Municipality. A coalition could be a possibility in the future, due to annexations of Gansu. Possibly called the Chinese Self-Defense League.
I’ve taken the liberty of updating the map of China since three years have passed. I wasn’t sure what was going on in the North, but it did say on Taiwan’s article it was aggressively expanding into neighbouring provinces. I also expected Guangxi to expand more into the south, and Macau slightly northwards.
Just a note, I left a note on the Hubei page a few years ago. I should apologize since I wrote it frustrated and can see that it was very aggressive.
Cheers,
