The protagonist joins the American resistance and they wage a guerrilla war, killing multiple Soviet soldiers through bombings and shootings against the occupation. Their most devastating blow is the bombing of a KGB building with no civilian casualties, similar to the Sliders episode of The Pilot and the games Freedom Fighters (2003) and Homefront: The Revolution (2016), etc. and you your ideas?
