Imperial America is an alternative history in which William McKinley gains Central America and other islands in the Pacific. America becomes an Empire and a Republic in which people in the Empire can vote for their Elective Emperor. After William McKinley was elected 1896 he took over Mexico and Central America in which he started building the Panama Canal. He also defeated Spain in the Spanish-American War (1898-1899) in which America gained the territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, Philippines, and Cuba. America became an Empire in 1900. President William McKinley was re-elected against Alton B. Parker and William Jennings Bryan. Soon after McKinley was re-elected he and Congress began to make an elective monarch and in 1901 fully became Emperor. In 1912 William McKinley died.
