021 storming of the United States Capitol

The Capitol Building overran by the pro-Trump mob (January 6th, 2021)

On Wednesday, January 6th, 2021, a pro-Trump mob stormed capitol hill, bringing Congress' electoral college verification to a halt and catching international attention. The rioters sparked national outrage, many in Congress called for Trump's removal through impeachment or invoking the 25th amendment. Trump ended up losing the support of many close allies such as Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and Tom Cotton. Despite the chaos caused by the storming, things could've turned out worse. There were two pipe bombs planted that were planned to detonate. One at the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington, DC and in the Capitol Building itself.
