1590[]

The French begin taking people across the Atlantic to work in their colonies. Anyone who agrees to work for 10 years will be given land at the end of their servitude. This proves immensely popular. Some colonial venturers decide to extend this practice by recruiting Africans, but with 15 years of servitude instead.

Tsar Dmitri's wife returns to her native land of France to escape the war with her children. They are hosted in the court of her brother-in-law, the Duke of Berry.

Boyars are hanged in the streets.

  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Guyana expands 50px west, Cape Charles, Avelskamp, and Nova Belgica expand 50px each. In India, dissent continues to be stirred amongst the Hindu population of the Bahmanid sultanate. Christian missionaries continue their work in Aceh. Construction continues of new facilities in Singapore, and is becoming the site of one of the largest shipyards outside the Netherlands. Recruitment into the Colonial Guard begins climbing, for the West India Company it mostly comes from Europeans looking for adventure in the new world, while in India and the East Indies, from Ceylonese and Malays. An offer is sent to the Prince of Borneo, as one of the few Gunterist states, offering its protection from nearby expansionist Muslim kingdoms. (Mod response please)
  • Holy Bulgarian Empire: Under Tsar Vasili, the empire undergoes a drastic and notable transition. While a heavily practical and brutal man he shows a relatively peace loving side as he hopes to bring down the Tensions in Europe. He officially announces the release of Poland from the PU under his freshly unveiled sons. Born years back to back, Tsar Vasili's first son Kaloyan will claim the title of Holy Tsar of all Bulgaria and the Balkans while his second son Constantine will take the throne in Poland bringing with it the reborn title of Tsar in Poland. This is carried out immediately in poland and the Tsars closest childhood friend Mikhail Alekov who is to rule as Regent of Poland until the young Tsar of Poland reaches age. The Rationale behind the split is to prevent imperial overextention, as well as create a closer ally out of the remainder of Poland through the previous claim through marriage of the Jaigellion family. Tsar Vasili offers his utmost support to his Russian ally but requests a year to fully mobilize and prepare for the extensive campaigning in Russia. Bulgarian population stands at roughly 6.86 million and growing.
  • Kingdom of England and Ireland: The rate of enclosure continues to remain high leading to people choosing to move abroad to the colonies in Arcadia. With the war over novels start to appear about the naval war. The navy is worked on improving as it failed to meet expectations with its size increased to 350 ships. Work is made on changing the navy with sailors now trained to acts as better ship to ship fighters. As the speed of the ships is criticised the new ships being built are smaller and more focus on speed and agility. Colonial expansion is restarted with New Gwynedd expanding 50px to the south and the New Netherlands expanding 50px to the south. Oxford and Cambridge continue competition over who has more students and better teachers with the universities high pay and low costs as subsided by the Crown. We maintain trade with our colonies and Asia as we start trading goods with Asia and moving slaves from Africa to Arcadia and bringing back tobacco largely. Avalon keeps working as whaling, fishing and fur trade continue to be the profit of the colony. The colony starts to grow outside of population migration as the number of births in the colony grows with more established farming. The plantation system in New Gwynedd and Western Arcadia is growing very effective. The colony of New Netherlands make its money from fur trading and farming. The four field crop rotation system starts to be adopted largely in England. The mouldboard plow is introduced to England and it begins to be used. The Parliament of England in its yearly meetings passes another enclosure act meaning that much formerly common land is enclosed to with hedging upsetting many farmers but on a small scale so not leading to any serious acts of rebellion. The canal from Runcorn to Manchester is completed and work on extending the canal to Worsley is started. Another plan to link the Severn to the Ouse river linking the north and south of the country This new canal will be much the same parameters as the previous one between the Severn and the Thames with the canals taking a common pattern. Plantations which grow tobacco and other crops such as cotton which are taken back to England for resale while these colonies are largely populated by a few English townsmen and yeomen farmers ruling over these areas employing Welsh and Irish convicts to run black slaves. Most of the farms are large plantations owned by merchants in England with most of the labour carried about by black slaves and convicts who spend their sentence working on farms and after four to seven years normally they are released and can be free like the small population freemen who moved for a better life. The English colony on William's isle maintain itself as does the fort with the settlers expanding inland to gain land for farming. The Kingdom of England and Ireland has a population of 3.9 million. The road system is maintained by the Crown. Merchants passing through on their way to Asia pass a small uninhabited island a number of times. The St Georges and St Johns Islands colonies maintain them self with their small population farming and acting as supply posts for travel to Africa and India. The St Goerge colony ends up being a transit hub for slaves while most ships pass St Johns Island on the way to India
  • Sultanate of the Maghreb: The Sultan Hamid ibn Musa Al-Abbas begins to work on modernizing the army by requesting men from 17-36 to train in the army, as the navy is improved on to reach the new world and to defend trading ships. Urban centers begin to grow as trading centers and means of living begin to spread mostly in cities on the coast. We send a Muslim missionaries to Angola. Coastal cities are made into trading post in the Desert to help rise the pop. The Navy is worked on as Rabat is made a center of naval action, as Rabat is were most sailors are trained making a Rabat Naval school, that holds harsh rules. The work on the army is worked on as people begin to be trained with fire arms. We send a trade envoys, along with sending Imams to spread Islam. The Sultanate begin to expand into the Atlantic coast line by 15px. The city Algiers is made the capital of the Sultanate as its population grows. The Sultan begins to work on cities by opening markets and trading centers mostly at Algiers. we begin to shadow the Caliphate trading ships following them to trade with other nations. We send an envoy to the king of Zaire (Kongo) if he would he open up mosques in Muslim areas in Zairi as we send our high Imam to tell him about Islamic Unity. The spread of Islam in Zairi is less about shoving it down people belief but more of gaining trust of people by giving out food and things like that, after gaining trust of people we begin to spread Islam into Ziyri (Kongo).
  • Maiam: Trade experiences a boom as Maian foods and goods begin to reach the wider European market, and demand increases. With Portuguese aid, the nation begins to rebuild and repopulate. A minor population boom begins in the native Mayan and Aztec populations, as well as the Portuguese settlers. In some cases, intermarriage results in what are known as Mextizo children. Expansion continues along the southern border, focusing on the coast. Work continues to renovate and update existing buildings and roads, and to create plans for future upkeep and renovations. There is some internal turmoil as the dominant Mayans impose their laws and culture on the conquered Mexica. Former Mexican royalty is forced to marry into Mayan lines. Small rebellions are put down. (Note: Mayan and Mexican refer to the cultural groups, Maian refers to the nation as a whole and its government.)
  • Abbasid Caliphate: In this year, the Ulema under the new Grand Vizier fully assumed temporal and spiritual power over the Caliphate. The larger military force is divided in two parts, one to administrate in Africa and one to administrate in the Middle East. The Caliph himself, being still only nine years old, has no ability to contradict this move. In fact, as the Caliph has been too adolescent to sire any children, the imperial Harem fell largely into obscurity, with many of the royal concubines assumed by the Ottoman Empire. More Arabs migrate into East Africa to intermix with the Amharic people. The colonies of Lakhadswheep and Chittabong also see more Arabs, but to a lesser degree. Trade across the Indian Ocean and East Asia continues, helping to support the economies and government of primarily Bahamani and Korea.
  • Can it be made clear that the max army size of the Abbasids is 400,000 due to the 1% of a 40 mil population. (MOD RESPONSE PLEASE) - Dev
  • Oman: Missionaries continue to spread the Ibadi faith in Java, Sumatra, Sunda, and Aceh, particularly in the Banten region of Sunda.
  • Knights Hospitaller: We have a population of around 46,000 (Colonists and 1% growth) and have a navy of ten ships. In New Rhodes, we begin building up our industry by offering grants for skilled colonists. We slow down immigration to around 500 a year. Due to the recent attacks, we begin focusing on our army while we also halt expansion and consolidate. Due to our small size our population can only provide 460 soldiers though we make sure that they are highly trained. We have finished the restructuring and rearming of the military into a modern army trained in Iberian tactics. Due to the immense wave of immigration, New Rhodes is over-populated and crowded and so we begin a resettlement program, shifting colonists from New Rhodes to the other colonies. With expanded Papal funding and Burgundian investment we begin to restart expansion soon after the reorganisation of the military. According to our old plans, we send a fleet to Northern Laurentia to scout out area for a colony and we decide to place a possible colony in OTL Alabama in OTL Mobile county. We have hoarded supplies and money for several years, such as the investments from Burgundy and the Papal States, and we are using this money to prepare for this colonisation. Seeing the success of the French land offers we offer these same deals to people who wish to move to our colonies.
    • Maryland: The colony of Maryland is small with around 10,000 colonists and 6000 native converts. We build a medical school in Maryland in order to combat new diseases while we also build a ship yard to help with trading. We resume expansion at a rate of 25 px. We begin building infrastructure in the colonies such as roads and schools while we are also planning to build important industry such as iron, and gun powder. We attempt to help modernize the natives and we provide schools and churches to teach them our main language (French) while we also build roads. The road has been finished leading to easier trading and communication. We build the city of St. John to establish a clear capital for the region, while also providing a chance for the native workers to learn new skills. Due to the roads St John is beginning to become a trade hub, with Europeans exchanging goods with natives. We apprentice young natives to teach them modern skills while we also teach the natives modern agriculture such as the four field system. We begin to encourage marriages between natives and the colonists in order to help assimilate them and to help improve relations. Finally we send experts to help rebuild their villages up to modern standards. Plantations are built for crops such as tobacco and sugar cane, while native plants such as maize, sweet potatoes, and beans are being adopted by our farmers. We send missionaries north hoping to convert more of the natives while we also attempt to convert native leaders. The natives are slowly beginning to be assimilated.
    • New Crete: It has a population of 4250, Andros Island is fully colonized though we halt expansion and consolidate.
    • Neues Deutschland: We settle in OTL Alabama in OTL Mobile county with a population of 150 colonists who are majority German. We start at a small size of 10 px and begin preparing the land for basic colonisation and expansion (7 years). We send an expedition of soldiers and missionaries to make peaceful contact with the natives and help convert the natives.
  • Malaya: We send another message to Kedah, asking for a merger and hope for a response [Kedah Response Needed] More undeveloped land is being utilized for agriculture. Construction begins in state capitals, aiming for the same results as in Kuala Lumpur. We upgrade our ports and nearby infrastructure to cope with being a prominent trading area. Spices and other localities are also taxed, and the trade generates a good income for us. More ports are constructed along the West Coast States, to ease traffic in the Strait of Malacca. With the West being focused on trade, the Eastern States are focused on agriculture.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies. The royal guards continue capturing slaves. In the heartland of Mogadishu, the Bank of Mogadishu begin cooperation with landlords to construct hydraulic devices such as canals and irrigation projects to boost food production. Areas interior to Mobassa and Malindi is colonized. We also send out conquistadors to expand northwards into more northern Somalia. We continue development of Madagascar. With Sofala becoming our vassal, we begin investing in Sofala as well as sending Swahili citizens into Sofala. We send some food to the Abbasids to help them in their famine. We declare war upon the Somalian State and invade it.
  • In the Principality of Kiev, Prince Ivan sends a contingent of troops, mostly Cossacks, to aid our Russian ally, the Czar. We send other troops to secure our recently-extended border with Russia to prevent spillover. Our cities continue to develop.
  • Georgia: We develop the port of Tskhumi to become the main port in Georgia, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad, Trebizond and other western ports. Trade with the Gurkani, Ottomans and the Caliphate is increased. The heir, Prince George, is being taught the art of ruling.
  • Russia: The Czar begins to make massive gains against the Boyars. The last major peasant offensive is a failure. The Boyar faction is reduced to warlords.

The daimyo and allied forces win the bloody battle of Kyoto.

The Borneo instead signs a pact with France due to French access in the Spice Islands.

In France, King Philip's reign is challenged by the Duke of Berry, who is the son in law of the old king but also a more distant cousin.

The Black Eagles enter contract with the new Polish monarchs to offer them extra security.

Pirates attack the Iberian colony in OTL Louisiana.

Trapezuntine Emperor dies and is succeeded by his chosen heir, the heir to the Georgia.

  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Guyana expands 50px west, Cape Charles, Avelskamp, and Nova Belgica expand by 50px each. With word of the fate Seabirds fate having had time to spread, a cartographer in the service of the West India Company maps the site of the Seabirds discovery, as well as other recorded ship disappearances, and finds that many of them occur in an area whose boundaries are marked from the coast of Maryland, to Puerto Rico, to New Rhodes. Due to the presence of the Knights Hospitallar in the area, he dubs it "The Knights Triangle". Dissent continues to be stirred amongst the Hindu population of the Bahmanid Sultanate. Support is given to Malayas modernization efforts, and investments continue to be put into the Knights.
  • Prussia-Bohemia-Luxembourg (posting for Nk): Emperor Wilhelm continues his reign. Bohemia is further integrated along Prussias legal system, while their government retains devolved powers. The intra-Empire road system continues to be invested in. Wilhelmsburg expands by 50px, and exploration of the Neu Rhine continues.
  • Korea: The Emperor continues his modernization program, with scholars sent to China annually to study their technology and practices, eventually being tasked with implementing them domestically. Acknowledging their importance, the merchant sang-in caste and commerce are granted a heightened role. Whilst this contrasts with traditional views on mercantile activity, the heterodoxy introduced by the Emperor eventually brings forth a more accommodating attitude to the court and the aristocracy. As a result, merchant guilds are founded. With a remonetized economy brought by the mass-adoption of copper-based coinage and bullion, there is a revival in commerce. Production of lucrative goods such as silk, porcelain, tea, and gunpowder surges, while the metallurgical and salt industries are monopolized and placed under a single state-owned firm. Hwataedo is further colonized, with Nivkhgu and Manchuria also receiving thousands of Korean settlers. Korean is promoted as a prestige language among their respective aristocrats, as well as a lingua franca between Korea and its subordinate dominions. Christianity, mostly the Nestorian branch, continues to disseminate among the populace.
  • Abbasid Caliphate: Great strategy befalls this year as the young Caliph Al-Najm III, being only 11 years old, died under unusual circumstances, and was entombed with his ancestors in Damascus. His uncle assumed the new title of Caliph, taking on the name Al-Mansur II. The Ulema continues, as it has for many years, send missionaries to the east Indies, southeast Asia and southern China, putting these nations under the centralized ecclesiastical hierarchy from the Caliph established by Al-Mutadid II. Al-Mansur, meanwhile, quickly decides to undo the mistakes of the previous several caliphs, which allowed the nation to fall into disrepair and chaos, and submitted his plan for the nation before the Ulema. The Pope of Alexandria, concerned for the future, begins to organize more of a centralized authority from the Holy See of Africa.
  • Malaya: We send another message to Kedah to discuss proposals of a merger. [Mod Response Needed] We upgrade infrastructure and trading ports.
  • Knights Hospitaller: We have a population of around 47,110 (Colonists and 1% growth) and have a navy of ten ships. In New Rhodes, we begin building up our industry by offering grants for skilled colonists. Immigration speeds up to 750 a year due to land grants. Due to our small size our population can only provide 470 soldiers though we make sure that they are highly trained. We have finished the restructuring and rearming of the military into a modern army trained in Iberian tactics. Due to the immense wave of immigration, New Rhodes is over-populated and crowded and so we begin a resettlement program, shifting colonists from New Rhodes to the other colonies. We send 380 knights and 8 ships to assault and attack the base of the pirates who are attacking the Iberians in order to conquer their lands, and to defend the faithful from harm(Mod response on success). With expanded Papal funding and Burgundian investment we begin to restart expansion soon after the reorganisation of the military. Seeing the success of the French land offers we offer these same deals to people who wish to move to our colonies.
    • Maryland: The colony of Maryland is small with around 12,500 colonists and 6000 native converts. We build a medical school in Maryland in order to combat new diseases while we also build a ship yard to help with trading. We resume expansion at a rate of 25 px (50px overall) which means we have colonised OTL Collier county. We begin building infrastructure in the colonies such as roads and schools while we are also planning to build important industry such as iron, and gun powder. We attempt to help modernize the natives and we provide schools and churches to teach them our main language (French) while we also build roads. • Aryavarta: Old age homes (Vridhashrams), Danashalas (Charity halls), Orphanages (Anathalays) and provisions for the blind are constructed and maintained in the cities personally by the members of the court. The government constructs bandhs or embankments in the flood prone areas. A plan is made for the construction and upgradating of 10 cities to house 10 million citizens. These are Delhi, Pushkalavati, Saptgram, Paradvip, Patliputra, Udaipur, Gaya, Lahore, Kannauj, Soanrgaon and Kanpur.
  • Sultanate of the Maghreb: The Sultan Hamid ibn Musa Al-Abbas begins to work on modernizing the army by requesting men from 17-36 to train in the army, as the navy is improved on to reach the new world and to defend trading ships. • Georgia: We develop the port of Tskhumi to become the main port in Georgia, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad, Trebizond and other western ports. King David dies to the hands of unknown assassins and the young Prince George inherits thus both his father's and grandfather's realm. He doesn't take a regency.
  • Papal States: Pope Innocent sets up a commission to produce a standardised Latin Rite version of the Missal. The commission, using the Roman use as its starting point, gets straight to work. The Missions continue their missionary mission.
The Parliament of England in its yearly meetings passes another enclosure act meaning that much formerly common land is enclosed to with hedging upsetting many farmers but on a small scale so not leading to any serious acts of rebellion. As the two canals previously being worked on to link Worsley mines to the sea and for the Ouse to be connected to the Severn are completed a period of increased canal building starts with privately run but supported by state finance. These canals work to link some of countries rivers together as well as the start of coal, iron, lead, copper and tin mines which also start to grow as financing comes into place Plantations which grow tobacco and other crops such as cotton which are taken back to England for resale while these colonies are largely populated by a few English townsmen and yeomen farmers ruling over these areas employing Welsh and Irish convicts to run black slaves. • Russia: The czarist faction is taking the upper hand and has already transferred part of Ukraine to Kiev. The remaining boyar armies have been destroyed. The march South and East has begun. Meanwhile Peasant commander Leon Petrov launches a coup against Saltykov. Peasant armies meanwhile face mass desertions and join the ranks to the Czar. By winter the first guns begin to lay siege on Tsaritsyn (or Volgograd as Petrov calls it). Petrov now mad in his beliefs orders his commanders to outflank the czars forces. This fails spectacularly with his Top Officer lynched and hung by peasants. Many boyars that defected to Dimitri are not spared. Many go on trial and hung for their crimes. Many radical peasants are killed on site. While the war rages rebuilding occurs in Czarist occupied region. Many peasants that declared loyalty to the czar replace the boyars as military commanders.

King Philip VII of France proclaims the Viceroyalty of Peru. Peru is under French dominion and is being Christianized.

There is a great fire in Kyoto.

A strange man begins travelling across the Holy Roman Empire proclaiming the need for a new crusade. He gains a large following but then someone kills him by throwing a rock at his head. His people then decide they need a crusade on the Far East.

  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Guyana expands 50px west, Cape Charles, Avelskamp, and Nova Belgica expand 50px each. Beginning this year, the Patagonia colony, based around the fort called Bonapaart, also expands 50 px. Dissent continues to be stirred among various separatist and Hindu groups in the Bahmanid Sultanate. Missionaries continue their work in Aceh. The Malayan Kings declaration uneases the Burgundian East India Company's field directors in Kolon Thota, and it's decided to discourage the king from attempting to switch allegiance to the failing Chinese state. At home, a new wave of naval expansion occurs as a new class of 60-gun galleons come online, and the two 138-gun "super-galleons" King Charlse the Great and Graf Bonapaart are refitted with improved cannonades. Frigate development also continues, with a new class of larger, more heavily armed frigates are launched and commissioned. In the East Indies, ship construction in Singapore and Ceylon increases, adding to the East India company's trade power, and as they can be readily converted to warships, its military power in time of war.
  • Prussia-Bohemia-Luxembourg: Emperor Wilhelm continues his reign. Wilhelmsburg expands by 50px, and exploration of the Neu Rhine continues.
  • Korea: With internal political strife in Giapan, the Emperor halts the exportation of bullion. Seeing corvée labour as unproductive, the Emperor issues an edict that outlaws the practice and implements a head tax system used to hire labourers. Viewing it in a similar light, he proposes the abolition of the cheomin caste, which comprised of serfs. However, pressured by aristocrats, he abandons the prospect. Seeking to have a counterbalance against court noblemen, he encourages his scholar court to intervene in politics. Peasantry begin transitioning from farming grains and to the cultivation of silkworms (which produce silk) and cash crops (principally tea leaves and cotton). Commerce is promoted, with lucrative goods such as brocades, jewelries, ginseng, tea, porcelain, and other manufactures being exchanged. With the abundance of copper-based bullion, many wealthy aristocrats adopt an increasingly decadent and luxurious lifestyle, visiting kisaeng houses and purchasing excessive luxury items. However, this has been shunned upon by Confucianist hardliners and in Hanseong, a small group of hardliners burn luxury items as part of their demonstrations. Hwataedo is further colonized, with Nivkhgu and Manchuria also receiving thousands of Korean settlers. Korean is promoted as a prestige language among their respective aristocrats, as well as a lingua franca between Korea and its subordinate dominions. Christianity, mostly the Nestorian branch, continues to disseminate among the populace, with slightly under half now following the religion. With Confucianism as a religion beginning to exert less influence over society, many art forms branch-off while white porcelain begins to lose popularity (being replaced by celadon porcelain). Many paintings begin to include realist qualities, rather than portraying idealized landscapes.
  • Abbasid Caliphate: This year, the Ulema were shocked to see the outragous claims of Al-Mansur in his attempt to sieze power: The Caliph demanded to remove almost all powers from the Ulema and return the Caliph to almost absolute power as it was back under Al-Najm the Great. In protest of these demands, the Grand Vizier Abdullah Salih resigns, and his brother Khalid Salih takes his place. Khalid, however, is much stronger in his resolve against the demands of Al-Mansur. Many of the Ulema, in fear of the wrath of the Caliph, wanted to push for agreeing to the treatise, or at least asking for a compromise. In fear of this, Khalid declared an emergency to suspend voting process in the Ulema. In addition, many people in Syria and Mesopotamia rise up against the Abbasids in open rebellion. The Ottoman Empire remains neutral in this conflict. Missionaries are sent into Southeast Asia, West Africa and southern Africa, as well as Georgia and Swahili, whose nations we continue to support.
  • Knights Hospitaller: We have a population of around 48,331 (Colonists and 1% growth) and have a navy of ten ships. In New Rhodes, we begin building up our industry by offering grants for skilled colonists. Immigration speeds up to 750 a year due to land grants. Due to our small size our population can only provide 480 soldiers though we make sure that they are highly trained. We have finished the restructuring and rearming of the military into a modern army trained in Iberian tactics. Due to the immense wave of immigration, New Rhodes is over-populated and crowded and so we begin a resettlement program, shifting colonists from New Rhodes to the other colonies. The attack is a success though we begin to institute regular patrols and drills in case of raids from pirates. With expanded Papal funding and Burgundian investment we begin to restart expansion soon after the reorganisation of the military. Seeing the success of the French land offers we offer these same deals to people who wish to move to our colonies.
    • Maryland: The colony of Maryland is small with around 15,000 colonists and 6000 native converts. We send missionaries north hoping to convert more of the natives while we also attempt to convert native leaders, we also focus on gaining more influence with the Seminoles in the north. The natives are slowly beginning to be assimilated.
    • New Crete: It has a population of 4250, Andros Island is fully colonized though we halt expansion and consolidate.
    • Neues Deutschland: We settle in OTL Alabama in OTL Mobile county with a population of 1,250 colonists who are majority German. We start at a small size of 10 px and begin preparing the land for basic colonisation and expansion (5 years). We send an expedition of soldiers and missionaries to make peaceful contact with the natives and help convert the natives. We begin to try to make peaceful relations with the natives and prevent further conflict.
  • Aryavarta: The council formulates policies for national integration. Sanskrit remains the official language while Hindi is designated as the lingua franca. Sanskrit is used in higher education and is the medium of instruction and is used for all official purposes. Hindi appears alongside Sanskrit and a local language in all official documents and signs meant for the public. A uniform system of primary and secondary education is established while most are still educated by the pathshala system. Under this Hindi will be taught as a second language and will be the medium of instruction while the local language of the area will be taught as the first language. Magadhi has been fully revived and is now substituted for the languages in its branch. A list is created by the court in which the local languages approved for primary and secondary education are listed. These are Magadhi, Gujarati, Paschimi (Western Indic Languages), Punjabi, Bengali and Pahari. As the Vaishnavite, Shaivite, Bhakti and Shakti sects rapidly lose popularity they move to other areas. Shaktism and Bhaktism become popular amongst the tribes and heavily influence their cultures and religions. Under the plans for national integration, expeditions are sent to various tribal areas, these are integrated into the mainstream and their religions integrated as parts of Hinduism. Tribal rebellions are put down using force. Land is cleared for cultivation in ex tribal areas. Our navy escorts merchant ships and patrols the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. The merchant ships now directly travel to nations such as Korea, Japan, Champa, Siam, ex Majhaphit states, and around Africa to Burgundy, Iberia, England and France. The Vaishnavites and Shaivites look for other areas to spread their sects. Shaivite ships land in Kedah and Malaya and establish temples. They slowly spread Hinduism. Vaishnavites travel to Myanmar and the Shan states.
    • Iravati: Iravati consists of OTL Myanmar (except the Shan states). The population of Iravati is 10 million. Hindus have been constructing temples and influencing the culture. Theravada Buddhism is still the main religion. The army consists of 75,000 troops which is supported by 125,000 troops from Aryavarta.
    • Some naval problems : We have a problem in estimating the number of ships. Now the max for Aryavarta (now referred as AV) is 2400. While we don't know whether Iravati (Burma now referred as IV) is naval concentrated or not. (Note- Main area is Pegu and Pegu is also the capital). Bengal was a naval conc. nation and its max was 2100. It was also a part of the Arab-Indian Company. So it would have had at least 1500 ships which were inherited by AV. Gujarati navy was also inherited by AV and Gujarat was also naval conc. and it inherited ships from Bahmani, so it would have had at least 100-200 ships. AV before only had a small coast and could only maintain 200-300 ships while IV had 100-200 ships. Now AV has the coast of Gujarat and the other one runs from Orissa to Chittagong, Bengal had many major ports. IV has the coast of OTL Myanmar. Now AV is a land based power but we have an incentive of ship building that is protection of trade and the coast from the Arab Indian Company which is led by the Abbasids and protection from foreign threats. So AV will maintain a fleet of 1000 ships while IV will have 400 ships since IV has naval conc. The rest (600-800 ships) inherited will be a part of the navy but will not be maintained and will be scrapped in a few years but can be used. So currently our navy numbers 2000 ships of 100 will be scrapped every year for 6 years making the final navy size of 1400 ships. Is this arrangement OK. (MOD RESPONSE PLEASE). AV Pop - 80 million, IV pop. - 10 million. Guj had 5 million while Bengal had 25 million.
    • You don't inherit a conquered nations concentration so were going to dumb that number down. Max number ill truly let you keep is about 1200 of which the vast majority are not modern. Also what is your incentive to travel out of your local area in a naval capacity? there is none the merchants come directly to you, it would literally cost you more to sail here than have them just come to you.  -Feud
  • Malaya: The king announces plans to make Malaya more powerful, called Wawasan 1600, as he expects it to be completed in 1600. The plan involves focusing on trade into the West, which will in theory increase the economy and make Malaya richer. Wawasan 1600 also calls for Malayan independence and becoming a Chinese tributary. We will do our best to maintain good relations with Burgundy, while under Chinese protection. A more powerful navy is also in the works. The transition from Burgundian Protectorate to Chinese Tributary is expected to materialize next year. In the meantime, we prepare ports for the transition from Western goods travelling to East Asia, to Asian goods going to Europe and elsewhere. Hindu temples erected in Malaya are tolerated, and Malaya is currently experiencing a mixing for existing Malay, Chinese and European cultures with ones of Indian descent. The king wishes that racial discrimination is kept to a minimum. We take in examples from other nations, specifically Chinese technology, Indian education systems and European militaries. We ask Kedah for the third time if they would like to merge with us and join us. [Mod Response Needed]
    • ''Kedah says no thanks. -scraw
    • Burgundian Dip: Malaya is discouraged by the Burgundian advisors in his court. They remind him Chinas failing economy makes its intervention on Malaya's behalf unlikely, and thus Malaya becomes a tempting target for other powers in the area, such as the Caliphate and Aryavarta.
  • Georgia: We develop the port of Tskhumi to become the main port in Georgia, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad and other western ports. King George unites the realms of Georgia and Trebizond and moves the capital to the city of Batumi, to represent a new start for both states. The new state becomes the Pontic Union. However, we promote the cities of Tblisi and Trebizond, giving them more power. To further strengthen this union, King George marries a Trapezuntine noblewoman, Helena. We increase our relations with the Abbasids, but warn them not to send missionaries into our territories (NATE response).
    • The Abbasids apologize and use the missionaries as ambassadors only
  • Kingdom of England and Ireland: The rate of enclosure continues to remain high leading to people choosing to move abroad to the colonies in Arcadia. The crowns of England Ireland are merged this year with the King now finally taking on his role as King of Ireland rather than overlord. The plantation system in New Gwynedd and Western Arcadia is growing very effective. The colony of New Netherlands make its money from fur trading and farming. The four field crop rotation system starts to be adopted largely in England. The mouldboard plow is increasingly commonly used in England. The Kingdom of England has a population of 3.9 million and Ireland 1 million people. The road system is maintained by the Crown. Merchants passing through on their way to Asia pass a small uninhabited island a number of times. The St Georges and St Johns Islands colonies maintain them self with their small population farming and acting as supply posts for travel to Africa and India. The St George colony ends up being a transit hub for slaves while most ships pass St Johns Island on the way to India.
  • Russia: The Civil has ended. The traitor Petrov went down fighting and wrecked Tsaritsyn. Rebuilding begins everywhere. Even though feeling his status threatened, Czar Dimitri allows democracy at the village and know Provincial level. Many of the last radical peasants are thrown into labor camps in Siberia where they work in the mines and the mills. There is also debate on moving the capital. Some think the old Moscow is a good idea while other seek to remain in Novgorod or move it to Vladimirgrad.
  • Papal States: The Pontifical Commission for the New Standardised Missal for the Latin Rite continues to make headway, and a draft of the new standardised missal should be ready for the Pope, Patriarch, and Inquisition to peruse. News reaches Rome of the preacher in Germany, and some in the Roman clergy agree that a crusade in the Far East could bring safety to the Christians residing there. The Missions in Japan, Korea, Angola, and the New World continue. In Korea, the Papal Envoy meets with the Nestorian leadership, asking if reunion as a sui uris church -similar to the Sakhan Church of the East, which is in communion with Rome but retains autonomy- would be possible in the future (Mod response please).
We also send ou,t conquistadors to expand northwards into more northern Somalia. We continue development of Madagascar. With Sofala becoming our vassal, we begin investing in Sofala as well as sending Swahili citizens into Sofala. We capture the Mujarteen capital and annex the Mujarteen state, with its citizens being enslaved and sent to work sites to be freed after 10 years of labour and education of the Swahili language. We station 1,000 guards in the Mujarteen to prevent rebellions.
  • Japan: As the great fire rages in Kyoto, the Grand Japanese Army maintain the Siege of Kyoto, not letting anyone escape except for the Emperor and House Yamato, which leaves the Southern Daiymo trapped in Kyoto as the fire consumes them, burning them alive. Kyoto is reduced to rubble and ash, and Odo Nobunaga is once again proclaimed Shogun of all of Japan. "This fire could have only been an act of the Divine, for it is only through this that we are victorious." With this, the reconstruction of Kyoto begins until the Northern Daiymo lay siege upon Kyoto against the Shogun and his army. While the Northern Daiymo bisiege Kyoto, former cowardice soldiers of the Grand Japanese Army act as messangers and call upon the peasants to rise up against the Northern Daiymo, thus regaining their heroism Thus the Peasant Armies of the North and South amass and march upon Kyoto.

Sectarianism erupts in Aryavarta, due to vast cultural differences between individual Hindu communities and that followed by the elite. Disagreements arise from two problems: the domestication of sacred animals such as cows and the consumption of prohibited animals like pigs, and the morality of the forceful conversion and massacre of Muslims.

Rather than establishing a protectorate, the Kingdom of Tali (South China) asks to partner with Kuala Lumper to help each other prevent exploitation from westenr powers (although they still maintain good relations with Burgundy).

The Various patriarchs of the Eastern Orthodox church convene in the first major use of the United Ecumenical council, to address some of the issues brought forth in the Catholic church which has seen the relative fracturing and dumbing down of what it really means to be Catholic. This council sends shockwaves through the Papal circles as the "Backward Heretic Orthodox practitioners" as they are known have these ideas unusually accepted. This prompts a Papal council to discuss the same issues.. the fracturing of True Christendom and the allowance of Heresy.

What does this even mean? ~Cal
It means the religious conflict is back on, and parts of your government are in on it. It is absolutely insane to think the Papacy would cave for so long or allow so much heresy to spread. These were eras of intolerance and hatred, not tolerance and hand holding. Play it that way -Feud
But what is this heresy I'm allowing? Read the Decrees of the Council of Cologne on doctrine, none of that goes counter to the otl Council of Trent: the benchmark of otl Catholic orthodoxy. If I am responding to counts of heresy, I need specifics. ~Cal
There is nothing for you to discount yet this is just counciling between other members of the papacy that are not the pope. If you act patiently then the details will come.

In Burgundy the various differences in religion while officially "sanctioned" by various popes boils over into extreme tension and conflict as the stauncly catholic French Cultured Burgundian in Bourgogne and Champaigne come into conflict with the more reformist Dutch and Walloon populations.

And what are these 'various differences in religion' which I 'sanctioned'? ~Cal
Its in a different country Callum, they can perceive however they wish. -Feud

The English slavery system meets resistance in Africa as many African nations and peoples are more favorable to the French servitude system.

  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Guyana expands 50px, Cape Charles, Avelskamp, Nova Belgica, and Patagonia expand by 50px each. The decision of Malaya to remain a Burgundian protectorate causes the East India Company field directors in Colombo to breath a sigh of relief before they write their report to the Amsterdam headquarters. To show the Company is serious about Malayas protection, several naval squadrons are stationed in Malay ports to ward off piracy. Dissent continues to be sown in the Bahmanid Sultanate. In Burgundian Singapore (officially the "Emirate of Johor"), Emir Iskandar dies, and with Company support his son Ali becomes the new Emir. In Burgundy proper, the religious tension is duly noted by the States-General and King Henri. The Papal representatives are received and left to their duties. King Henri calls a special session of the States-General to deal with the trouble (since it involves local matters, the Henrian Reforms require the States-General to be involved). To force a solution, the chamber doors are locked with the king and the lords inside. What results is the Egmond-Hoorn Compromise, which states that since neither practice has been deemed heretical, neither can be promoted over the other, while acts of violence (such as the burning of churches) will not be treated as religious crimes, but as simple crimes against persons and property, and perpetrators will be punished as common criminals (and not as heretics, which merits death via the stake). King Henri, a Latin Rite follower but who spends most of the year in the Low Countries, and the present lords (Dutch and French) sign it, but all of them are aware the compromise will probably only last for however long until a future Pope declares one of the Rites heretical.
  • Pontus: We develop the ports of Tskhumi, Batumi and Trebizond, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi ánd Trebizond towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad and other western ports. King George sends an ambassador to the Abbasid Caliphate, promoting better relations and peaceful talks in regards of Europe's growth towards religious conflict.
    • Abbasid Dip: Caliph Al-Mansur prepares a letter asking Pontus for arms to help him put down the rebellion, but this letter is intercepted by Al-Akhabut, who instead personally delivers a message to King George from the Ulema, saying they wish to accept better relations and any help he can give in the Caliphate's current civil conflict.
  • Aryavarta: Violence erupts in majority Muslim areas and in the areas of Vaishnavite majority over cow slaughter. Tribal problems arise. The council and the members of the court debate over the problem. The council bans cow slaughter in Gujarat and in the area around Mathura and Banaras. This arrangement temporarily solves the problem of cow slaughter, a great rift is created between the Vaishnavite sect and the other sects. Muslims revolts in Hindu majority areas are swiftly crushed with most Muslims converting to Hinduism. The Muslim revolts in Muslim majority areas in Bengal butcher non muslims, the Bengal Hindu Sena is formed and many of its members are Arjan Dev's followers. The Bengal Hindu Sena with constant support from the army crushes the Muslim rebellions in Bengal and many of them convert to Jainism and Hinduism. This creates a conflict in the educated circles about the morality of these conversions and massacre. A debating society is created with many hindu leaders being members of the society.
  • Why not most Muslims converting to Hinduism ? because I think I can dictate who becomes what in my country unless it is a mod event.
  • You cant convert people that fast, specifically muslims, a group that has historically been extremely hard to convert. Also just cause you control the nation doesn't mean you can do things implausibly fast. So no you cant unilaterally dictate implausibly quick conversions to a religion muslims historically don't like converting, too -Feud
    • No one expected the Indian Inquisition! :V -Guy
  • Papal States: After news from the Eastern Orthodox council reaches Rome, a number of more conservative-leaning Latin-Rite prelates and normal clergy agree with their statements. They say that some have interpreted the Council of Cologne too loosely, been too accomodating of heretical elements of the Northern Rite, and allowed heresy into the fold. The group coalesces around the conservative Dominican Order in the Angelicum university in Rome. The group, which includes several Italian bishops, meets at the Angelicum and publishes a pamphlet which states their concerns. On the other side, those clergy who were taught in the seminaries established by the Council of Cologne, as well as the Immaculata Order, publish a pamphlet of their own, stating that the Northern Rite is entirely orthodox since they adhere to Cologne's declaration on the faith, and argue that any heresy which has crept up is not the fault of laxity or over-accomodation on the part of the Church or the Papacy. (Feud is this an acceptable interpretation/use of the event?). Pope Innocent VIII stays out of the feud for now, and hopes that the new, very orthodox, standard Missal for the Latin-Rite, due for release next year, will calm the conservative faction to an extent, and stop the regional variations in the Latin Rite. Noting the situation in Burgundy, the Pope sends a special Papal Envoy Extraordinaire to maintain peace. Accompanying him is a member of the Inquisition, whose job is to determine whether the 'reformist' Dutch and Walloons have been harboring heresy. The Inquisitor's instructions tell him to use the Decrees of the Council of Cologne Regarding the Faith to determine their orthodoxy or otherwise. Overseas, the missions continue in Japan, Korea, China, Angola, the New World; all the places.
  • Malaya: We rethink the decision to join China, and decide that it would be best if we remain a Burgundian Protectorate. We consider Tali's offer, and announce that Malaya will be a Burgundian Protectorate partnered with Tali to build up Malayan strength, before announcing full independence and a partnership between Burgundy and Tali. The capitalization on East to West trade continues, and is expected to increase the economy slowly. More trade ships are constructed and laws are created to prevent external exploitation. We construct more schools in less developed areas, and promote rational thinking and multiracial toleration in schools.
  • Cologne: After the general success of “Lioness” over the last ten years, Archbishop Aldrich awards the canoness responsible, Wilhemina von Strauch, a Stelzner Prize. Roads into Cologne have been built over the last ten years and begin to create a significant system of inroads. The Nordrhein Highway, as it is now called, becomes a main route for trade in the surrounding areas. Aldrich reaches out to The Kingdom of Burgundy to ask whether it would like to co-sponsor the creation of roads between them, as both are old trade partners and this would enrich both of their capacities for infrastructure and prosperity. Archbishop Aldrich also notes the struggles between opposing Catholics in Burgundy and offers to assist with peacemaking, as the people of Cologne have done in the Holy Roman Empire. (Please reply) Aldrich again reaches out to Prussia in the hope that the HRE-wide road network could go ahead upon unification of German nations. In the meantime, Aldrich does further repairs and upgrades to the hospitals and schools all throughout Cologne (and Essen). Funds continue to come in from the printing press and trade generally. Further ports upon the Rhine and Ruhr are built, to bring Cologne into the new century. Archbishop Aldrich also approaches Russia, asking whether he can do anything to assist a Cologne’s trade partner with the Boyars/Peasants situation. Further, while hearing of the sudden religious conflict with conservatives in Rome, Archbishop Aldrich deliberately takes a step back from the drama and spends a lot of his year reminiscing and writing confusing poems that people begin to associate with his old age.
    • Essen: Adelphinian Canonesses in Tondo are slowly creating more unity with the King of Tondo, and this year put their best foot forward to build both a school and a hospital, with the help of some nobles and other friends they have made in Tondo in the past ten years. There are now several canonesses of native Tondo descent. Meanwhile, Abbess Hadwig asks Korea if they would be willing to take a small envoy of Adelphinian Canonesses who are keen to explore new lands and learn new things. (Please reply). In the New World, Adelphinian Canonesses give frequent lectures that condemn the massacres of native people and encourage working together peacefully with these people. They work with the Knights Hospitaller to help generally in all areas, including encouraging natives to marry once evangelised. Further, they ask for the Knights Hospitaller’s blessing on their new abbey and the potential recruiting of natives to become Adelphinian Canonesses (of the Order of St Adelphina). (Please reply) Back home, Abbess Hadwig is becoming very old.
    • Burgundian Dip: the Cologne representatives are accepted by Burgundy.
    • Prussian dip (posting for Nk): Emperor Wilhelm agrees on the topic of the HRE-wide road network.
  • Holy Bulgarian Empire: Tsar Vasili continues his process of centralizing further control of the empire under himself and his own bereaucratic system. On top of this the empire enters into a population boom period with the end of the economic slump. The Economic slump ending is attributed to the last of the war loans and monetary issues stemming from such have ended with the final payments doled out specifically to the banking families and loans that were taken from england during the war as well. The Population boom is notable for having been caused by the relative surplus in food that is produced by the now well established farming manorial system. With the Imperial systems subsidizing the production of food the surplus is known to be a relatively easy thing to come by and food is sold relatively cheap causing higher birth rate. Scholars notably attribute the sophistication of the food production and its ability to supply to sound policies of subsequent tsars and they practicality on providing for their people over immensely expensive wars. Considering the Bulgarian position in the balkans their need for war is near non-existent as much open frontier land needs to be settled and careful management of minorities is to keep the empire from overstepping too far. The Population reaches 6.95 million and growing
  • Abbasid Caliphate: Since the uprisings last year, Al-Mansur began brutally putting down all resistance to his power. Abullah Salih, still prominent among senior scholars, was put in prison and vanished a few months after. Ibrahim Al-Khber, the aged preacher was likewise executed without trial. Finally, the Caliph ordered the Ulema themselves to be arrested if they do not turn over power back to him. Rather than surrendering, the Grand Vizier called together the Ulema to write up a document condemning the actions of Al-Mansur, known as the Kitab Al-Kabeer. Mostly used for accusing Al-Mansur himself of various crimes, including the murder of Al-Najm III, the document also referenced the works of Abd Al-Rahman, supporting the notion that hereditary rule of the Caliph altogether was unlawful, and that literal adherence to the Qu'ran should depose the House of Abbas from power. Seeing support for his rule quickly shrinking, Al-Mansur reaches out Bulgaria, a long time friend of the Abbasids, to loan some troops to help put down these uprisings. According to legend, at this time Al-Ankhabut made a startling reappearance to become a hero once more. Utilizing typical ingenious strategy as well as mastery of disguise, Al-Ankhabut managed to get Abdullah Salih broken out of prison, as well as save many other scholars from imprisonment. We ask Kuala Lumpar if they would like to join as a partner in the Arab-Indian Company
  • Kingdom of England and Ireland: As agitation by slaves about the french system over the english system the King outlaws slavery declaring men can be transported to the colonies and be worked for 12 years before they must be released regardless of race. This is hoped to encourage blacks to migrate with promises of vast rivers and vibrant lands once they are free and that the work will be easy and light. The rate of enclosure continues to remain high leading to people choosing to move abroad to the colonies in Arcadia. Another 30 ships are constructed. These new 30 return to the premise of large and powerful using heavier guns. Colonial expansion is with New Gwynedd expanding 50px to the south and the New Netherlands expanding 50px to the south. Oxford and Cambridge continue competition while subsided by the Crown. We maintain trade with our colonies and Asia as we start trading goods with Asia and moving slaves from Africa to Arcadia and bringing back tobacco largely. The St George colony ends up being a transit hub for slaves while most ships pass St Johns Island on the way to India. Construction of the Portsmouth castle (stratergic defence) is started and expected to be finished in 10 years. The plan is to construct two major fortresses overlooking the mouth Portsmouth harbour (OTL forts Gilkicker and Southsea). These fortresses are designed to defend against ships and have large naval artillery mounted on them combined with layers of defensive walls to halt off land attacks. The harbour at Portsmouth is significantly improved as well. These fortresses should defend any landings on Portsea island to any landings east of the River Alver. A chain boom is going to be built at the narrowest point off Portsmouth harbour.
  • Japan: While the Northern Daiymo continue to lay siege upon the capital of Kyoto where the Emperor, the Shogun, and their Grand Japanese Army defend, a massive horde of Christian, Shinto, Buddhist, and peasant armies descend upon Kyoto from both the North and the South. The leader of the Peasant and Religious Armies. Ryouichi Rokuro Nakamura speaks " We shall save the Emperor and Shogun from the siege, and liberate ourselves from the opression of the Daiymo once and for all!" With this, the Peasant and Loyalist Armies surround the Northern Daiymo and after a long and brutal battle the Peasant and Loyalist Armies are victorious and the Northern Daiymo are killed. With this, all the Daiymo in Japan are killed. THe Emperor and the Shogun thank the Peasants and Loyalists and they receive many rewards.and civilian rule is restored in Japan.
    • 1) Can't kill all the daimyos so easily
    • 2) You can't transistion to civilian rule so easily

  • Russia: Reconstruction continues. More traitors are hanged, and finally minor expansion starts in Siberia.
We also send ou,t conquistadors to expand northwards into more northern Somalia. We continue development of Madagascar. We begin development of Sofala..

In England, an apple farmer named Thomas Greenfield accidentally discovers his crushed, leftover apples taste good with sugar, and so develops the first applesauce (Mott event).

A logistical strain on the Hospitaller causes some prominent officials to suggest they decentralize the government a bit.

Many Buddhists in Korea begin to adhere to a sect of Therevarda Buddhism, believing that their old ancestors achieved the bliss of being snuffed out from reality. Utilizing a corrupted version of the Buddhist Book as their evidence, they begin decrying the Confucian ancestor worship of the Kim family as foolishness.

Hitler discovers a book detailing the account of the Rapture and calculates that it is coming in the year 1666. He orders his entire mercenary band to read his newly written works proclaiming the coming of the end.

  • Knights Hospitaller: We have a population of around 50,000 (Colonists and 1% growth) and have a navy of ten ships. In New Rhodes, we begin building up our industry by offering grants for skilled colonists. Immigration speeds up to 1000 a year due to land grants. Due to our small size our population can only provide 500 soldiers though we make sure that they are highly trained. We approve of the activity of the Adelphinan canonesses in our colonies. in We have finished the restructuring and rearming of the military into a modern army trained in Iberian tactics. Due to the immense wave of immigration, New Rhodes is over-populated and crowded and so we begin a resettlement program, shifting colonists from New Rhodes to the other colonies. We call upon the Papal States to denounce the writings of Hitler in order to stop mass hysteria and chaos (Mod Response). The attack is a success though we begin to institute regular patrols and drills in case of raids from pirates. With expanded Papal funding and Burgundian investment we begin to restart expansion soon after the reorganisation of the military. Due to the logistical strain of the colonies, we decide to decentralise our government by allowing the colonies limited autonomy in their affairs with a council of colonists headed by an appointed governor being responsible for governing the colony. Seeing the success of the French land offers we offer these same deals to people who wish to move to our colonies.
    • Maryland-The colony of Maryland is small with around 16,500 colonists and 6000 native converts. We build a medical school in Maryland in order to combat new diseases while we also build a ship yard to help with trading. We resume expansion at a rate of 25 px and have fully colonised Broward county. We send missionaries north hoping to convert more of the natives while we also attempt to convert native leaders, we also focus on gaining more influence with the Seminoles in the north. The natives are slowly beginning to be assimilated. We halt expansion for two years to consolidate.
    • New Crete-It has a population of 4250, Andros Island is fully colonized though we halt expansion and consolidate.
    • Neues Deutschland: We settle in OTL Alabama in OTL Mobile county with a population of 1,750 colonists who are majority German. We start at a small size of 10 px and begin preparing the land for basic colonisation and expansion (3 years). We send an expedition of soldiers and missionaries to make peaceful contact with the natives and help convert the natives. We begin to try to make peaceful relations with the natives and prevent further conflict.
  • Pontus:We develop the ports of Tskhumi, Batumi and Trebizond, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi ánd Trebizond towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad and other western ports. King George sends monetary aid as a sign of good faith, but calms down his populace with his 'state of the union' speech, in which he says that while the Caliphate is heretic, peace is what keeps the nation going and makes it stable.
  • Papal States: The new standard edition of the Missal is promulgated by Pope Innocent VIII, and whilst it is officially called Missale Romanum Edition Typica, it becomes commonly known as the Innocentine Mass. The Papal Bull promulgating the new Missal, Divino aflatu, makes its use obligatory throughout the Latin-Rite Church, except for those usages of the ancient monastic orders, which can apply to the Holy See to continue their use. The Innocentine Mass is effectively a consolidation of the Mass in use in Rome. It is celebrated ad orientem, and -except for the Scripture readings and the homily, which are to be in the vernacular- is in Latin, with Innocent writing that "we do not deem it propitious at the present moment to permit the use of the vernacular for the proper of the Mass, as the universal use of the Latin tongue within the Rite enhances the unity of the faith and practice within the Latin Rite." The one departure from common Roman practice is that the Canon of the Mass is to be said audibly by the priest. The conservative faction from last year, now commonly referred to as the "Angelicum Faction" due to their connexion with the Angelicum university in Rome, applaud the Pope's new missal, pointing to its clear orthodoxy, and arguing that its obligatory nature will no doubt put an end to what they perceive to be heretical influences in the mass in various places. Even their opponents (increasngly called the Immaculata faction due to the Order's influence within it) accept the benefits of the new Missal, although some raise concerns that it might be more difficult to proseletyse with such a rigidly obligatory mass. In other news, the Prefect of the Inquisition condemns Hitler's book as gravely suspect of heresy, and in the accompanying explanatory declaration, writes that the book's discussion of a 'Rapture' is indicative of a Pre-Tribulational (dispensational) Premillenial theology which is "at odds with the prevailing theological opinion of the Church and cannot safely be taught without endangering souls." The document ends with a request that no Catholic prince allow the book to be printed. The Pope explicitly gives his approval to the document, a move which also gains the good graces of the Angelicum faction, since they see it as evidence of a move towards a tougher approach to heresy. In other news, the Pope asks the Hospitallers to consider granting the Adelphinian Order an administrative role in Neu Deutschland. Given the present administrative difficulties faced by the Knights, the Adelphinian canonesses, who have much experience in both governmental administration and missionary work, could help take a load from the Knights' already overburdened shoulders. The letter concludes with a heartfelt thanks to the Hospitallers for all the work they have done so far in spreading the Faith in the New World.
  • Holy Bulgarian Empire: Under a treaty based on better integrating religious and cultural brethen as well as end the separation of Serbians from two of their greatest cities, a mutual agreement is reached between the Bulgarian Tsar, and the Grand Prince of Serbia resulting in the integration of Serbia fully into the Empire adding its nearly 1.8 million people to the Empires total population as well as bringing Serbia together with the Bulgarians, and other South Slav or assimilated and accepted peoples in the empire for the first time in history. This is celebrated by the Tsar who declares that this unification of the Balkan Slavs into the empire is the start of a new era. He directly brings in the various nobles from across the empire and now rubberstamped by the Imperial Duma he brings into force the Acts of Union which brings re-organizes the empire somewhat equalizing the provinces due in part to the changing in demography of the Empire. This is due in particular to the assimilation/union of many Vlachs into Bulgar culture, as well as the spread of Bulgarian peoples in general. The Major Provinces are sepArated into Bulgaria Proper, Wallachia, Moldavia, Greece, and Serbia with the subdivisions restructured along a new land system which changes many of the no longer held Ducal lands making land ownership important but not as controlling or important as it used to be in the previous eras. The Tsar coloquially adopts the term "Belka" a bastardized derivative of two words in the Slavic languages and German. "Bel" and "Konig" meaning White Kingdom or Kingdom of White which is in reference to the architectual styles of many of the imperial cities to using bright white colors and the white stone. This brings a reference to a new title known as the United Kingdom of Great Belka with the Tsar and some of his high nobles adopting the term to refer to the Greater Balkan area under the Empires control. With the integration of the Serbian Principality the grand total population of the Empire stands at 8.89 million with one of the largest urban populations in Europe as well as the largest urban center in Europe (Vasiligrad). The Tsar heavily promotes the idea of unity under the empire and promotes several Serbians, Greeks, Moldavians and Vlachs to the Duma to give them some stake in the empires workings. The empire specifically begins to aim its dislike towards the Ottomans, the former conquerors of the whole of the balkans. Now under yet another Muslim Superpower the Tsar promotes extreme unity in the face of the potential of the Caliphates military capabilities which could be launched against the empire.
  • Abbasid Caliphate: Thanks to the work of Al-Ankhabut rescuing the senior scholars of Damascus, the Ulema under Salih raised an army against the personal guard of Al-Mansur. The Caliph managed to escape the city, and fled to Cairo where he raised his own army to try to retake Syria. The Sixth Fitna has begun. While the Emirates of Cyprus and Krete join with the Caliph and lend their navies to his assistance, the majority of people in Egypt do not accept his rule. The Pope of Alexandria stood up to Al-Mansur, saying "you are not welcome here", and Al-Mansur had him martyred on the spot. Nonetheless, the Caliph had some more cunning commanders under his banner, and towards the end of the year he managed to stop an invasion attempt from the Ulema at the Battle of Ismail. Although the Salih potentially has a larger army, they suffer from a smaller navy without the support of Cyprus and Krete, and Al-Mansur hopes to use this to his advantage. The Caliph reaches out to Bulgaria to buy mercenaries to assist him match the Ulema's army. At the same time, Salih reaches out to Georgia for fincancial support.
    • Holy Bulgarian Dip: The Tsar in order to foster some sort of peaceful co-existence over just over the Med sea agrees but also offers to purchase Naxos and Krete from the Abbasids as funding for their war effort as well as a full free year of mercenary troops. We also offer loans to the Abbasids to help their war funding.
    • Abbasid Dip: Al-Mansur thanks the Tsar for the loans, and will consider selling those islands if the war becomes more desparate, but for now they are too valuable strategically.
  • Gurkani: Firearm production is ramped up. The Sultan is very concerned of a spillover of the Caliphate's civil war into Gurkani, so he ends the dynastic union with the Abbasids, and sends the Abbasid nobles back to the Caliphate. Meanwhile, a possible colonization of East Africa is growing, with many nobles in the Sultanate hoping to create East African colonies. The recent Hindu aggression greatly concerns the Sultan, so the military stations of army of 50,000 on the borders of the Hindu Indian state. In addition, a naval fleet carrying Gurkani advisors are sent to the Bahmani Sultanate. The vassal in Sumatra continues to grow, and recent attempts at Malayan expansion has worried the Sultan. The Sultan attempts to increase the spread of Shia Islam in former Majapahit. Its vassal in Sumatra is given 30,000 of the latest Gurkani firearms. Military industrial complexes increase, the population surges.
  • Kingdom of England and Ireland: As we introduce the voluntary transportation system to Arcadia we start a campaign of persuasion. A report is written by 'colonists' stating about the fertility of the land, the abundant space and regularity of trade and that it is the promised land free of poverty. This leads to the start of an economic migration from England, Wales and Ireland as land is closed off in these countries leading to a growing poor. the rate of enclosure continues to remain high leading to people choosing to move abroad to the colonies in Arcadia with around 2,000 moving a year. Another 30 ships are constructed. These new 30 return to the premise of large and powerful using heavier guns. Colonial expansion is with New Gwynedd expanding 50px to the north and the New Netherlands expanding 50px to the south. Oxford and Cambridge continue competition while subsided by the Crown. We maintain trade with our colonies and Asia as we start trading goods with Asia and moving volunteers from Africa to Arcadia and bringing back tobacco, cotton and sugar largely. Avalon keeps working as whaling, fishing and fur trade continue to be the profit of the colony. The colonies starts to grow outside of population migration as the number of births in the colony grows with more established farming. The merger of the English and Irish crowns works well. In New Gwynedd and Western Arcadia the first slaves being released. The colony of New Netherlands make its money from fur trading and farming. The four field crop rotation system is almost universally used in England and starts its spread to Wales and Ireland. The mouldboard plow is used across England. Land reclamation efforts are started as an abundance of workers appears with land being drained off water. The first selective breeding is performed at Cambridge. These canals work to link some of countries rivers together as well as the start of coal, iron, lead, copper and tin mines which also start to grow as financing comes into place. Canal to link the River Eden to the South Tyne. Work in the colonies is dominated by mainly large scale farms and plantations with contract workers normally growing crops for profit under the guidance of the owner before after time they are released and normally start their own subsistence farm possibly in time setting their own plantation up. The English colony on William's isle is expanded with another few hundred settlers sent itself as does the fort with the settlers expanding inland to gain land for farming. The Kingdom of England has a population of 4 million and Ireland 1.1 million people. The road system is maintained by the Crown. The St Georges and St Johns Islands colonies maintain them self with their small population farming and acting as supply posts for travel to Africa and India with more volunteers being placed on them. The St George colony ends up being a transit hub for slaves while most ships pass St Johns Island on the way to India. Construction of Portsmouth castle is continued with the focus being moved to the main fortress being at the narrowest point next to the chain boom where multiple layers of heavy artillery are placed supported by thick stone and large cellars of ammunition and powder and surrounded by water on three sides. A number of other positions are placed to act as lookouts. Expansion of Portsmouth harbour is continued with more quays and warehouses being built.
  • Russia: Reconstruction continues. We expand 10px in Siberia, we restart weapon construction.

1595[]

In a strange series of coincidences, everyone with the surname "Maud" in Ireland are attacked by wolves (Maud event).

The appointed governors in the Hospitallers adopt more noble titles of their autonomous colonies. As some nobles intermarry with native Arcadian women, the rumor of  Acadindians being among the most beautiful in the world spreads to West Indies.

Many mixed Buddhist, Jainist and Nestorian minorities in India, particularly in tribal areas continue to see much concern with the persecution of minority religions by the Maharaja.

When did I persecute religious minorities other than the Muslims. I have never posted anything about Christianity. Only Islam is not tolerated but Sufi Islam is. All the posts are related to Hindu reform and Islam not one of them have shown persecution of Buddhists and Jains. There are Buddhist universities too. Also Tribals have different pagan (I don't know if it is a derogatory word) religions. The tribals worship nature.

I believe non-mod complaints are meant to go on the Talk Page. ~Cal

(Note: Mayan and Mexican refer to the cultural groups, Maian refers to the nation as a whole and its government.

  • Papal States: The Innocentine Mass is rolled out accross the Latin-Rite church, as copies of the new Missale Romanum are delivered to diocese around Europe. It is estimated that it will be approximately five years before every diocese and mission is using the new standardised mass, but after that point, every Latin-Rite mass in the world -aside from a few in the ancient monastic orders- will be entirely uniform, and conform to the highest standards of orthodoxy. Hitler's heresies are put down wherever they are found, and a man near Bologna found disseminating a pamphlet extolling Hitler's eschatological views is executed on the orders of clerics associated with the conservative Angelicum faction. The Pope writes to England, praising its king for outlawing slavery and following the spirit of the English Pope Adrian VI's encyclical Dilexit Deus. In other news, the Pope renews his calls for the Hospitallers to consider granting the Adelphinian Order an administrative role in Neu Deutschland. Given the present administrative difficulties faced by the Knights, the Adelphinian canonesses, who have much experience in both governmental administration and missionary work, could help take a load from the Knights' already overburdened shoulders.
  • Aryavarta: The country is divided into 15 provinces. The governors (Rajpal) of these provinces, the ministers (Mantri),the chief minister (Mukhya Mantri),the king (Maharaja), the head of the police (MahaKotpal) and the head of the army (Mukhya Senapati) constitute the Council of Ministers (Mantriparishad). There are 7 departments - State Records (Rashtra Abhilekha Vibhag) Accounts(Akshatpatal Vibhag), Military(Samrik Vibhag), Administrative Service (Prashasan Seva Vibhag), Police (Kotpal Vibhag), Postal Service (Rashtra Dak Seva Vibhag) and Rashtra Nirman Vibhag (National Development). These departments are answerable to the king and are housed in the Old Fort in Delhi. These departments are headed by ministers. The head of each province is a governor (Rajpal). The rules laid down in the Arthashastra for the recruitment of state officials is followed. Due to the recent tensions between the various Hindu communities. a materialistic atheistic philosophy, the Charvak philosophy starts gaining popularity in Gujarat and Rajputana (Rajasthan). The Charvaka Scholars set up a University in Girnar. On the other side of the country the Nyaya and Vaisheshik scholars set up a University in Ujjain for the furthering of intellectual thought and advancement of the six Vedangas. The university publishes papers on the research of Indian astronomers and medical practitioners. An astronomy department is created in the university. The secret police has intercepted messages between the Gurkani and the other Muslim nations calling for a jihad against the Hindus. The council decides that the state should be ready. The army is mobilized. The navy begins actively patrolling in the Bay of Bengal and the Gujarat coast. The army strength is increased to 700,000 men. These armed by the armory reserve with muskets and siege guns. Heavy bombards are stationed on the border. Guru Arjan Dev raises 10,000 Khalsa warriors. Rich Merchants are called to fund the government. Burgundy(GUY Response), Malaya (SIDEWINDER Response), and Thailand(MOD Response) are asked for assistance in case of war.
  • Note- Aryavarta had helped Thailand and Vietnam in establishing a Buddhist dynasty. Secondly we have never persecuted Buddhists or Jains. Hindu society considers them a part. Only the Muslims are seen as invaders.
  • The Empire was divided into four provinces, with the imperial capital at Pataliputra. The head of the provincial administration was the Kumara (royal prince), who governed the provinces as king's representative. The kumara was assisted by Mahamatyas and council of ministers. This organizational structure was reflected at the imperial level with the Emperor and his Mantriparishad (Council of Ministers). Historians theorise that the organisation of the Empire was in line with the extensive bureaucracy described by Kautilya in the Arthashastra: a sophisticated civil service governed everything from municipal hygiene to international trade. The expansion and defense of the empire was made possible by what appears to have been one of the largest armies in the world during the Iron Age. A vast espionage system collected intelligence for both internal and external security purposes.
  • Gurkani: The people are very concerned about Aryavarta's persecution of muslims, and the Sultan has broke off ties with it. The Sultan has recently began building the navy up further, expanding the fleet that the Abbasids rebuilt. They regularly take trips to our land in Sumarta, to further introduce the natives to Shia Islam. It is not about shoving the beliefs in their face, but rather about winning the locals trust. Another great deal of concern in the nation is the Abbasid civil war, and many people are afraid it might spillover into the Gurkani. The Gurkani elite are sheltering descendants of Delhi Sultanate nobles, and should a muslim revolt occur, the Gurkani might attempt to restore the Sultanate. Former Bengali nobles that were originally only supposed to be granted land in Gurkani to rule to prevent a sectarian war from breaking out in Bengal, are being raised to be the next rulers of Bengal should a muslim uprising occur.
  • Aryavarta Diplomacy: We tell the Gurkani not to shelter enemies of our countries. We are not persecuting Sufi Muslims. We also tell them not to sever our good relations. The Gurkani is warned. Any attempt to create a rebellion will result in a war.
    • Gurkani Diplomacy: Don't worry, a rebellion isn't being planned. However, your persecution of any non Sufi Muslim is of great concern to us.
  • Secondly, let me tell you a fact, from the 13th century onwards to the 18th century or for more than 500 years, the Muslims were the rulers. At the time of partition the Muslim population was around 15-20% this is including Bangladesh and Pakistan. What does this mean ? We are in the 16th century and Muslim rule in North India ended in 1520s. So no more than 10% of my population will be Muslim. These Muslims are scattered in North India and Bengal. And don't say that Bahmani is now majority Muslim. If Muslims don't convert quickly, so is for the Hindus. No more than 10% of the Bahmanis will be Muslim. Again the Bahmani established control over the south in the 1490s. There is no way that the Muslim population in the Indian subcontinent in the 1590s is more than 12.5 %. Also in the south, Hindu-Muslim relations aren't tense as the Muslims in South India are seen as merchants and not invaders. So the southern Muslim rulers have a non-rebelling population and they don't need to convert people.
  • Abbasid Caliphate: In the first phase of the Fitna, Al-Mansur pools together the majority of the navy to gather first at Salonika, then proceed for an all out invasion at Jaffna. Al-Akhabut, in a covert mission, managed to discover these plans and reported them to Salih, who ordered the much smaller navy of the Ulema to defend Jaffna at all costs. In the first few hours of the ensuing battle, the Ulema Admiral Ibn Ismail was mortally wounded by a grape shot. However, the sea captain Al-Nasser quickly assumed his position and kept the navy from falling apart. In the next day of fighting, Al-Nasser fell back into the cove, and as soon as the Cypriot navy was lured in, he let loose a barrage of cannons from the coastline. As soon as the Cypriot navy was thus caught off guard, Al-Nasser proceeded to first target the monitor ships, then execute a double-envelopment to crush the frigates, until the invaders were repulsed. Meanwhile, the Ulema's military on land, although still unable to break the Caliph's forces in Egypt, was nonetheless able to capture St Catherine's Monastery at the Battle of Sinai, thus as a ceremonial victory.

The King of England and Ireland with only one child and heir a daughter Catherine offers her to the heir of Scotland with the Isles of the Hebrides as a dowry and provided the King has no sons their offspring will have claim to both English and Scottish thrones.
    • Scottish Dip: He Agrees.
  • Holy Bulgarian Empire: While the empire re-organizes its provincial system as well as the various specifics in regards to this, the Emperor and his advisors specifically address the problem that stems from the multitude of ethnicities in the empire. While the direct population of Bulgarians remains large standing just under 7 million (this includes the multitude of Romanians which have been culturally absorbed) the Greeks, and the Serbians present a new challenge. While the Greeks are a small ethnicity they remain potent in the southern portions of their former homeland, and the Serbians consisting of both Serbians and Bosnians is not truly a united ethnic group. The previous work of the imperial bereaucracy has made an effective system of communication and has done a decent job in breaking down some of the linguistic barriers between the Bulgaro-Romainian the Bosnian and Serbian languages still remain somewhat distinct albeit more readily understood. Serbian scholars actively interested in the developing links between the langauges agree to help the Imperial Bereaucracy study this phenomena. The Tsar re-directs a significant amount of resources to the Ragusa Area, renaming it to Visegrad as the city becomes the primary port in the Adriatic and is the primary settlement location of Bulgarians in the city mostly young merchants and some veterans from the wars in Germany. The noticeable success of the city and its increase in wealth comes up shortly thereafter.
    • Principality of Slovenia: Internal work continues to be done connecting Ljubljana to Trieste as the area becomes more developed. It is also the site of much trade coming out of the HRE and into as well.
We send Muslims missionaries to Angola. Coastal cities are made into trading post in the Desert to help rise the pop. The Navy is worked on as Rabat is made a center of naval action, as Rabat is were most sailors are trained making a Rabat Naval school, that holds harsh rules, as Ali al Akbar is picked as the naval officer and begins to work on reaching the new world .The work on the army is worked on as people begin to be trained with fire arms. The idea of a New World is spread convicing some people to support the idea.We send a trade envoys, along with sending Imams to spread Islam. We send an envoy to the king of Zaire (Kongo) if he would he open up mosques in Muslim areas in Zaire as we send our high Imam to tell him about Islamic Unity. The spread of Islam in Zaire is less about shoving it down people belief but more of gaining trust of people by giving out food and things like that, after gaining trust of people we begin to spread Islam into Ziyi (Kongo).
  • Russia: Reconstruction continues (will be done by 1600). The military is improved and the last traitors are hanged. We expand 10px in Siberia. Trade with Georgia is renewed.

An expedition of 1500 royal troops from France settles in Northern Peru, and meets a mysterious native entirely dressed in gold. They report back they had found evidence of "L'Or" (The Land of Gold).

Seeing not as much centralization in the Catholic Church, a secret society of dog-worshipping gnostics gather in Southern Germany, known as the "Caninites" (idk, mutt event?).

Spread of horses in the plains of Arcadia are adopted by several tribes, completely changing their way of life, mostly the Souix and Comanche.

As the scientific method and similar ideas spread from the Middle East and Eastern Europe to the west, a new culture of art and philosophy begins to emerge in Northern Germany, casting out the stylistic mannerism of earlier eras of art (Baroque coming).

Hitler's works become popular among some Italian nobility who are captivated by the idea of the coming Rapture. The Doge of Venice cracks down on adherents to Hitler's predictions.

The government had largely ignored the organisation. The Bengal Hindu Sena is disbanded and dismantled. However the sense of enmity between the Hindus, Jains, Buddhists vs the Muslims remains strong. Due to the history of atrocities dealt to the non-Muslims by the Muslim invaders and the Delhi Sultans. The King issues a statement welcoming the Christians to Aryavarta. The TICI was formed in 1594 as a debating society. It has now become a council with various departments having people leading their fields as members. It is a private organisation funded by its members. It is associated with the University of Ujjain. The TICI publishes a book titled 'The Indian Society and Culture' which is published in 7 volumes and is translated into many major languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and French. A convoy of 10 ships each with representatives of the king are sent to the nations of Korea, Japan, China, England and Burgundy, carrying gifts and hoping for further cultural exchange (PLAYER RESPONSE PLEASE). Mangoes are now exported to the international market. Mango cultivation is encouraged. The 8-barreled volley gun now enters regular use. Experiments on Metal cylinder rockets are conducted by the University of Nalanda. The copper and lead reserves in Rajputana (Rajasthan) are heavily exploited. An orchard of 100,000 mango trees is built by the king in Magadh. Exports also consist of precious and semi-precious stones, ivory, cotton cloth, muslins, mallow cloth, silk cloth, silk yarn and medicinal products.
We send Muslims missionaries to Angola. Coastal cities are made into trading post in the Desert to help rise the pop. The Navy is worked on as Rabat is made a center of naval action, as Rabat is were most sailors are trained making a Rabat Naval school, that holds harsh rules, as Ali al Akbar is picked as the naval officer and begin to work on a strong navy. The work on the army is worked on as people begin to be trained with fire arms. The idea of a New World is spread convincing some people to support the idea.A Imam named Ali Basim begins to think of the idea of expanding the picking of the Sultan to the people in a way.
  • Malaya: We agree to assist Aryavarta should war break out. Laws on religion are loosened, allowing more tolerance to religion and conversion easier. As we agreed to fight alongside Aryavarta against Muslims, laws banning extremism are implemented. We send ships to China for cultural exchange, as well as gaining technology like advanced cannons and prototype gunpowder weapons similar to those from European origin. Tin mining begins to be more common, and is exported at ports to Europe and Asia. In terms of agriculture, rice and paddy fields become a common sight, while spice production is gaining the nation wealth from its exports to Europe.
    • Oman to Malaya: We offer to improve diplomatic relations with Malaya.
    • The Gurkani protests Malaya's willingness to fight Muslims, and points out that if they wage war with a Muslim state, the Muslims living in Malaya will revolt.
  • Oman: King Abdulla bin Numair dies at the age of 64 after having ruled for 37 years. He is succeeded by his son, Taamir al Barakat. As well as making a few minor reforms to the navy, Taamir argues that the island of Hormuz ought to belong to Oman, and finds agreement among the nobles. Although the claim is unfounded, there is no opposition to his mastery of logic and the wealth of historical documents produced on the subject. Meanwhile, the Arab-Indian Company begins to lose favor in the realm as the new generation of Omanis have no desire to be tied to foreign powers, and instead develop their own national identity, largely due to the work of Suleiman bin Mudhafar. There is a demand for the interests of the country to override the interests of outsiders, and some view this as a drift toward isolationism. Whatever the case, it leads Taamir al Barakat to send a fleet of light ships to the Indian Ocean to protect trade interests and wrestle control of sea routes from Oman's competitors. A permanent naval presence is established in the Strait of Hormuz. Also as a result of this, the Compact of Kolon-Thota becomes completely defunct in regards to Oman. The Omani population rises significantly this year, thanks in part to the end of the famine, which coincides unusually with the accession of the new king. Diplomatic relations are also improved with Aryavarta, and a direct trade route is established between the two states. Oman's economy prospers from unhindered trade with Gujarat and Indonesia.
    • Aryavarta:We would like to improve relations with Oman and establish direct trade routes.
    • Oman to Aryavarta: We accept your proposals.
    • Note: Gujarat and Sindh are parts of Aryavarta. They were fully annexed after gaining independence from the Bahmani.
    • I am aware of that; I wrote it in response to your diplomacy. Gujarat is one of your major trade provinces. -General
  • Papal States: Facing an increase in the popularity of the Hitlerian Rapture heresy, the Pope turns to the clerics of the conservative Angelicum faction, ordering that they suppress the heresy. The Dominican Order, which is closely aligned to the Angelicum clique, send a group of Inquisitors to the region. They immediately begin inquiries and assist the Doge of Venice in cracking down on those spreading the heresy, handing many guilty parties over to the secular arm for various punishments. Additionally, they send groups of Dominican preachers to the region to properly catechise the population on correct theology. They give public sermons and lectures, print pamphlets (given the Imprimatur by bishops aligned with the Angelicum group). News of a semi-pagan resurgence in Southern Germany of all places leads to the Pope ordering a similar crackdown in that region, and he writes to the Archbishop of Cologne for assistance in that undertaking. The news emboldens the Angelicum faction, who write to their conservative allies in Southern Germany and Switzerland, asking they take the lead in rooting out the 'Caninites'. Seeing the rise in heresies amongst Germans as a vindication of their views that the Church -especially the Northern Rite- has become too lax on heresies, the Angelicum group drafts a letter to the Pope asking him to investigate the Northern Church. The rival, more liberal [comparatively] 'Immaculata faction' watches on impotently as the Angelicum gains influence, since as they too are opposed to the heresies, they cannot argue against them. In other and tangentially-related news, the rollout of the Innocentine Mass continues. Missions continue in the New World, Japan, Korea, China, Southern Africa, and more missionaries from the Immaculata and other orders (as well as secular clergy) are sent there.
  • Pontus:We develop the ports of Tskhumi, Batumi and Trebizond, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi ánd Trebizond towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad and other western ports. King George sends monetary aid as a sign of good faith to the Caliphate.
With the conquest of the Mujarteen we continue expanding and begin constructing more ports.
  • Gurkani: Relations are reluctantly restored with Aryavarta. This year has been a difficult one for the Gurkani. Beginning this year, a Hermit Jew began a movement to voice that the Jews must return to Israel and await their Messiah. This was causing much problems, so the officials had him executed. His followers murdered a Gurkani noble in revenge. Thus the Gurkani had to crush their revolt. Then, the nation began facing unrest over restoring relations with Aryavarta. Many began to question whether they should allow their fellow muslims to be persecuted. For better news, the vassal located in Sumatra is quickly evangalising into Shia Islam. Also, a population boom is occuring, after the Sultan is encouraging the populace in the cities to have many children. Meanwhile, the Firearm designs continue to develop further, with the muskets becoming more complex and the Cannon and Bombards getting larger.
  • Abbasid Caliphate: The tide of the war is just starting to turn in favor of Salih. Admiral Reis Al-Nasser gathered the navy to push on against Salonika, and quickly overwhelmed the rest of Cyprus' navy. Landing parties, first in Cyprus and then in Krete, forced these nations to surrender to the triumphant commander, and restore them to rule under the Ulema. When Nasser landed on the island of Naxos, he discovered the people there were mostly isolated from the rest of the Muslim world since they were first colonized under Al-Najm I. They were oblivious that there was a war going on, but they were more than willing to swear loyalty to the Ulema. On the continent, the Ulema finished reorganizing the military after all the Abbasid nobles defected to the Caliph in Egypt. Salman Ash-Shamal was put in charge of this army, and by the end of the year he had crushed the Abbasid forces at the Second Battle of Ismail, and thus began to invade Egypt itself. Seeking more international support, Salih offers to sell part of Crimea north of the peninsula to the principality of Kiev, in exchange for a 30 year NAP. This offer is officially given by the Ottoman Empire, who actually controls Crimea. The Ottomans, by this time, have fully come in on the side of the Ulema and sent thousands of troops to help Salih invade Egypt.
    • Persian Mercenary Dip: A Gurkani Army of 5000 mercenaries offers Salih support in turn for good pay. These mercenaries make it clear they are not affiliated with the Gurkani royal family.
    • Ulema Dip: Salih accepts these troops and adds them to the coalition invasion forces.
    • Maghrib Dip: The Sultan gives Biyah to the Ulema and sends an army of 20,000 is sent to take Libya.
    • Kievan Diplomacy: We counter with an offer of a 25 year truce between the two nations in exchange for the lands north of the Crimean peninsula.
Many Africans move to Arcadia supported by the English as well. Another 20 ships are constructed. These new 20 return to the premise of large and powerful using heavier guns. The Kingdom of England has a population of 4 million and Ireland 1.2 million people. Construction of Portsmouth castle is continued expected to be finished in 8 years with more cannons being moved into block off a direct assault.. The marriage between the heir to the English throne and the heir to the Scottish throne occurs.
  • Cologne: This year, the Kolsch envoy in Burgundy is not only able to assist with peacemaking, as it has been doing for the past three years, but also work with the government of Burgundy on the question of a road system between the two countries. The talks have been generally successful, but Archbishop Aldrich hopes that he can get the government of Burgundy’s express approval. (Burgundy, please reply) Meanwhile, Archbishop Aldrich thanks Emperor Wilhelm of Prussia and the road network in the HRE and Prussia/Luxembourg/Bohemia begins to grow, very slowly. Most of the developed roads are near the outskirts of Cologne in in neighbouring duchies etc. In response to His Holiness the Pope and the heretic Caninites, the archbishop cracks down as requested, distributing pamphlets on the complete inadequacy and ridiculousness of such dog-related heresy, and having both priests and canonesses from Essen deliver similar lectures and sermons generally to the public. The general population of Cologne itself remains quite convinced that the “Caninite” heresy is simply ludicrous, but Archbishop Aldrich is careful nonetheless. Furthermore, despite feeling somewhat (internally) slighted by the Anglicum faction’s interest in the Northern Church, Aldrich invites some conservative members of the Anglicum faction to sit at the next Imperial Synod and write an article in the German Paper about unity. (Papal States, please reply) Finally, Archbishop Aldrich hears of the publication of Rapture by Hitler and asks the current Stelzner (descendant of the original printing press creator) to ban the publication of the heretical book all through Cologne and Essen. Arrich Stelzner makes a speech encouraging all countries using the Stelzner press to ban the publication of Rapture.
    • Essen: Adelphinian Canonesses in Tondo continue to encourage unity with the King of Tondo. The school and hospital are almost completed, and the people of Tondo are encouraged to be peaceful and devout. This works particularly well, given that many Tondoese people have become canonesses in search of greater peace, divinity, knowledge and strength. There are even a few Tondoese priests attached to the Order. Meanwhile, in the New World, the Adelphinian Canonesses thank the Knights Hospitaller for their blessing and generous support, and continue to evangelise and build upon the community there. Furthermore, given the Pope’s request that they take a great part in decentralising the government of the New World, specifically Neu Deutschland, the Adelphinian Canonesses come to the Knights Hospitaller with a proposal that a small daughter abbey of the Adelphinan Order accompany every colonialist on the Council (in each distinct section of land) in order to further reduce the strain of government on the small group of people. They are very experienced with working on the land and bringing peace, health and education to the people, and hope that the Knights will consider their plan. (Knights Hospitaller, please reply) Back home, Abbess Hadwig – first Abbess and Abbess-General of commoner descent – passes away whilst in the middle of writing a further letter of encouragement to a particular canoness in Tondo. She dies with a smile on her face and her half-finished letter is framed and hung upon a wall in the entrance to Essen Abbey. Elections for the new abbess begin.
    • Burgundian Dip: King Henri agrees to the road project, and begins putting aside funds to construct it.

The legend of the land of gold spreads from France to other European countries.

A Prussian physicist and astronomer declares the heliocentric model of the Solar System and that the orbits of planets are elliptical.

Out of interest, how much evidence do they present? Do they have evidence of a stellar parallax? That will determine how my reaction plays out. ~Cal

  • Knights Hospitaller: We have a population of around 55,000 (Colonists and 1% growth) and have a navy of ten ships. In New Rhodes, we begin building up our industry by offering grants for skilled colonists. Immigration speeds up to 1000 a year due to land grants. Due to our small size our population can only provide 550 soldiers though we make sure that they are highly trained. We accept the offer of Cologne and we tell them that we are in eternal gratitude for their help and promise that in the future they will be repaid. We are concerned with the adoption of noble titles in the colonies and we remind them that their position is a priviledge and not a right, and that instead of pursuing titles and wealth they should pursue happiness and prosperity for their people if they do so they shall find their gift in heaven. We actively discourage the adoption of the noble titles though we do not ban it. Instead of attempting to ban it, there are suggestions of creating an elite organisation to monitor them and purge corruption from our colonies.
    • Maryland: The colony of Maryland is small with around 20,000 colonists and 6000 native converts. We build a medical school in Maryland in order to combat new diseases while we also build a ship yard to help with trading. We expand 25 px into Lee county.
    • Neues Deutschland: We settle in OTL Alabama in OTL Mobile county with a population of 3,000 colonists who are majority German. We expand by 25 px (35 px total). We welcome the coming of the cannonesses from Cologne and they soon become an important part of the colony. We send an expedition of soldiers and missionaries to make peaceful contact with the natives and help convert the natives. We begin to try to make peaceful relations with the natives and prevent further conflict.
  • Korea: At the age of sixty-four, Emperor Kim Do abdicates and gives the throne to his twenty-three year old daughter Kim Sin-bi. After years of being unregulated, Theravada Buddhism, a small yet growing sect of Buddhism, is heavily regulated with its followers being heavily taxed. The members of the anti–Kim movement are purged and executed under treason. Kim Sin-bi continues to bolster the influence of her scholar court in order to counterbalance the proper court. Peasantry and serfs continue their transition from farming grains and to the cultivation of silkworms (which produce silk) and cash crops (principally tea leaves and cotton). Hwataedo is fully colonized, with a second settlement known as Haebuksan established. Ilbonshi breaches twenty-thousand inhabitants, of which two-thirds are of Korean ethnicity. Korean is promoted as a prestige language among their respective aristocrats, as well as a lingua franca between Korea and its subordinate dominions. Christianity continues to rapidly spread with a quarter of the population being Christian (mostly followers of Nestorianism). The Korean Nestorian Church refuses to become a sui iuris church and insists of retaining full autonomy. Confucianism, whilst declining and followers becoming less devout, is incorporated into Korean Nestorianism.
  • Pontus: We develop the ports of Tskhumi, Batumi and Trebizond, in order to sell gold, silver and iron. Ottoman goods are shipped through Tskhumi and Trebizond towards Vladimirgrad, Vasiligrad and other western ports. King George sends monetary aid as a sign of good faith to the Caliphate.
  • Abbasid Caliphate: The coalition forces under the Ulema makes its full invasion of Egypt. The land forces under Salman crushed the remaining Abbasid forces at the Battle of Fayyum and the Siege of Cairo. Meanwhile, Al-Nasser fully subjugated Cyprus and Krete once more, then moved south to besiege Damietta and cut off the remaining support for Egypt. While this was going on, Al-Mansur was quickly losing support from the people within Egypt, who were mostly Coptic and Amharic in population at this stage. During the summer, as most of Egypt was being overrun, Al-Mansur was at last assassianted by his guards. When the report of Al-Mansur's death reached Damascus, the Ulema deliberated for some time how to proceed, until it at last they conceeded on expounding the document known as the Kitaab Kabir: In this new version, a longer theological discussion explains how, after the death of the Prophet, the titles and authority of Muhammad was passed to Abu Bakr, his appointed successor, and not Ali the heir of his property. And so, during the Four Rightly-Guided Caliphs, each was chosen by the majority of those in the Ulema, consisting of the companions of the Prophet who had memorized the Holy Quran. But after the death of Ali, the last of the Rashidun Caliphs, the children of the accursed Abu Sufyan from the Umayyad clan rose up to unlawfully assume control of the Holy Office. Since then, generations had unnaturally passed this title as if by right of property down from one generation to another, resulting in the rule of many foolish, unfit and unholy men to assume leadership over the house of Islam; and God did not spare that generation of judgment, as had been seen in the Anarchy of Samarra, the Capture of Jerusalem, and the Burning of Baghdad. Now, at long last, the time has come to re-assume the Holy Office to those who are best suited for it. After this declaration was concluded, the Ulema began to vote on who should assume the office of the new government.
    • Gurkani Dip: The Gurkani proposes a confederation of the Abbasid affiliated ex majapahit states, Gurkani affiliated shia state in Sumatra, as the Oman affiliated Ibadi state to deal with the malaya threat.
  • Oman: Although Ibadism is the state religion of Oman, Sunni Islam has quickly grown to become a popular alternative due to outside pressures and migrations of Arabs from the Nejd region. The Grand Imam decides to send missionaries to convert the provinces of Nejd and Al-Hasa and cut to the root of the problem. Wishing to stay true to the vision of his father, King Taamir promotes Ibadism as well. Ibadi missionaries visit Malaya and Malacca this year, spreading the Ibadi faith to several coastal villages. In Madagascar, the native population is increasingly pushed out of their homelands to make way for Omani settlers, many of them migrating to Imerina. Al-Qamar is officially admitted as a state, composed of the provinces Vohemar, Mahajangha, Tawamasina, and Manakara, with the capital at Mahajangha. Dina Morgabin and Dina Arobi are also declared separate states.
    • Oman Diplomacy to Java: Oman offers a formal alliance with Java to protect this outpost of the Ibadi faith. (MOD RESPONSE).
    • Gurkani Dip: The Gurkani proposes a confederation of the Abbasid affiliated ex majapahit states, Gurkani affiliated shia state in Sumatra, as the Oman affiliated Ibadi state to deal with the malaya threat.
    • Oman to Gurkani: We remind you that Java is independent and not under the political influence of Oman. However, because you have brought this matter to us, we will pay closer attention to Malaya's actions in the future.
  • Gurkani: The firearm designs continue to develop. Gamrūn (OTL Bandar Abbas) serves as the naval port. The situation in Aryavarta is very concerning to the entire population of the Gurkani and many question why the Sultan does not intervene. The Sultan states that Aryavarta has simply too large of an army for the Gurkani to attempt to invade. What is even more controversial is that the Gurkani still has trade relations with Aryavarta, despite the Hindus persecuting muslims. Trade is increased with the Bahmanis. A population boom is occurring, due to the Sultan's urban growth attempt. More people in the cities are having children.
  • Holy Bulgarian Empire: The Tsar heavily begins to invest in the education of his son, specifically in the arts of governing and management of various polities of the empire. While this is undergone Tsar Vasili and his Son Kaloyan travel to Serbia arriving into the new Imperial Province with a well organize veteran army made up of some veterans from the Austrian succession war. With this he also organizes all the remaining veterans from the Serbian army during this period as well, and with much land in Serbia and Bosnia now lying open with no claimants due to new provincial land reform the Veterans are all paid out of the Imperial treasury for their services and are also given land within the province. some other veterans prefer to settle the wild frontiers in Moldavia being still not out of their youth and the potential to make a large sum acting as paid border guards or trade caravan protectors. Many of these veterans are noticeably happy to have their services further paid as many Bulgars in particular migrate to these lands in Serbia and Bosnia with nearly 4000 Bulgar veterans followed by nearly 3 times as many from their direct families who agree to settle in the area. The Empire shows signs still of positive population growth reaches 8.96 million and growing. The various scholars and linguists in the empire begin to further explore the origins of the divergence of the slavic langauges while simultaneously discovering the Old Slavonic language roots and beginning the full study of the old langauge. The Imperial economy begins to slow as the integration of Serbias differing system and bringing the Province up to speed requires much investment and work.
(Note: Mayan and Mexican refer to the cultural groups, Maian refers to the nation as a whole and its government.
  • Papal States: News of the new heliocentric cosmological model reach Rome. Unlike the heliocentrism of the Novo Almagast of 1540, which was primarily theologically and philosophically based, the new claim appears to use only evidence from the natural sciences. It is thus of less immediate interest to the Inquisition, who put it aside whilst they deal with the more pressing Hitlerian 'Rapture' and Caninite heresies. Clerics and prelates associated with the conservative Angelicum faction, however, see the new publication as heresy, and publish a pamphlet which quotes from the Inquisition's Prefectural Brief which condemned Novo Almagast. Facing public pressure from the Angelicum, Pope Innocent asks the Inquisition to look into the matter early next year. Work continues countering the Hitlerian and Caninite heresies and catechising the people in the affected regions with proper theology. Missions continue in Japan, Korea, China, Southern Africa, and all throughout the New World.

  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Guyana expands 50px west, Cape Charles, Avelskamp, and Nova Belgica expand by 50px each. Naval expansion and development continues. Progress is made on Burgundys portion of the HRE road network.
  • Abbasid Caliphate: With Al-Mansur II dead, the remaining members of the Abbasid family elected his son Al-Mansur III to succeed him as Caliph, more as a figurehead as their leadership was very disorganized. With all of Northern Egypt under occupation by the Ulema, the remnant of the Abbasid dynasty held out in Herekropolis with less than 2,000 followers in total. Meanwhile, in Damascus the Ulema finished the reorganization of the government. They abolished all use of heretitary nobility and monarchy in the Caliphate, replaced with a system of appointed Sultans by merit, and Emirs elected by popular vote. As for the Caliph himself, the Ulema created a separate committee known as the Wilayat Al-Qudds (Holy Office) of senior scholars specifically descendent from the Qurayish tribe to vote for a new Caliph among themselves. Unsurprisingly, Salih was voted unanimously as the new Caliph, the first non-Abbasid Caliph in 848 years. After marching triumphantly into Herekropolis without a single battle, Salman forced Al-Mansur III to surrender the office of Caliph allong with the Seal and Mantle of Muhammad. Hence forth, the Abbasid dynasty were completely abolished from the nation, and all official documents and coinage were doctored to match this new change of dynasty: from now on, The Rashidun Caliphate was declared as offiicially restored, and the Sixth Fitna had ended. The Caliph accepts Kiev's offer of 25-year NAP in exchange for selling part of Crimea. The Ottoman Empire fully accepts this change of administration, as does the vassals of Sumatra and Sunda, and the colonies of Lakhadshweep and Chittabong. The Caliph asks for all Muslim nations, particularly the vassal of Africa, to accept the new change of government, in light of the corruption and heresey among the unlawful heretitary Caliphs of the past, particularly in the last 30 years. The Ulema sends personal thanks in the form of exotic gifts to nations that helped them succeed in the war, particularly Persia, Turkey, and Georgia. Bulgaria, however, is looked at with great suspicion, as they supported the Abbasids during the Sixth Fitna.
    • Gurkani: The Gurkani Sultan congratulates the Rashidun on their victory, and says the Abbasids for years have tyranize Gurkani via their personal union as well as de militarization.
    • Bulgarian Dip: Due to the uneasiness of a new government we were unsure a victory against the abbasids would be within out favor. As it stands our only support came in the form of loans. We request to normalize relations with the Rashidun and hope to maintain our quiet and peaceful coexistence with the Caliphate as well as the keeping of our generations old agreement.
  • Oman: Oman again offers a formal alliance with Java to protect this outpost of the Ibadi faith. (MOD RESPONSE).
  • Gurkani: The Rashidun are congratulated for their glorious victory. The Sultan gives a speech, saying "For no longer will a tyrannical Caliphate tyrannize over our Sultanate." Meanwhile, demonstrations occur outside of the royal palace, begging for the Sultan to intervene in the Muslim persecutions in India, pointing out that many of them are Shia. The Sultan tells them that is simply not viable. He says the Aryavarta will crash on it's own if it must fall. Meanwhile, our fellow Shia state in Sumatra increasingly persianizes, with Persian style mosques being build, Persian style roads, while the cities are still being worked on. People in that state are afraid of what Malaya is doing recently. Protests happen over Malaya's willingness to fight Muslims in a war. They also protest them rebuilding Hindu temples and allying with Aryavarta. The Sultan of that state in Sumatra considers attempting to get Malaya's King to convert to Islam, as their populace is majority muslim. Meanwhile at home, the military stands at 100,000 strong.
  • Sultanate of the Maghreb: The Sultan Amid ibn Musa Al-Abbas begins to work on modernizing the army by requesting men from 17-36 to train in the army, as the navy is improved on to reach the new world and to defend trading ships. Urban centers begin to grow as trading centers and means of living begin to spread mostly in cities on the coast. The idea of a New World is spread convincing some people to support the idea. We send an invite to Mali to open up trade (MOD). The Sultan already gave Biyah to the Ulemah and the 10,000 troops walk into Libya seizing the port city as Benghazi is turned into the military HQ to push into Abbasid land.A Imam named Ali Basim begins to think of the idea of expanding the picking of the Sultan to the people in a way. We send a trade envoy, along with sending Imams to spread Islam.
  • Kingdom of England and Ireland: As we introduce the voluntary transportation system to Arcadia we start a campaign of persuasion. A report is written by 'colonists' stating about the fertility of the land, the abundant space and regularity of trade and that it is the promised land free of poverty. This leads to the start of an economic migration from England, Wales and Ireland as land is closed off in these countries leading to a growing poor. the rate of enclosure continues to remain high leading to people choosing to move abroad to the colonies in Arcadia with around 2,500 moving a year. Many Africans move to Arcadia supported by the English as well. Another 20 ships are constructed. These new 20 return to the premise of large and powerful using heavier guns. Selective breeding starts to grow in England. These canals work to link some of countries rivers together as well as the start of coal, iron, lead, copper and tin mines which also start to grow as financing comes into place. Canal to link the River Eden to the South Tyne is continued. The Kingdom of England has a population of four million and Ireland 1.2 million people. The road system is maintained by the Crown. Construction of Portsmouth castle is continued expected to be finished in eight years with more cannons being moved into block off a direct assault.. The marriage of Anne and the Scottish bloke leads to birth of a son Richard. As the population of the Kingdom of England has grown and Ireland has been integrated into the Kingdom a change in the system of national defence is made. A standing royal army of 3500 men is made who drill full time, while another 48,500 men are organised into the feudal military system. Ireland has it's nobles appointed Marshals with Ireland being broken down into a series of military regions while the grading is reassessed in England to provide more troops. Taking lessons learnt from wars in Germany the concept of the mounted knight is largely phased out with the main bulk of the forces being pike men or musketeers combined with light cavalry forces supported by a larger artillery section. Musketeers and pikes are held in shallow formations in the centre while cavalry hold the flanks and lighter more mobile artillery play a greater role in pitched battles.
  • Knights Hospitaller- The Grandmaster has died and we are now in the process of finding a new leader. We have a population of around 56,550 (Colonists and 1% growth) and have a navy of ten ships. In New Rhodes, we begin building up our industry by offering grants for skilled colonists. Immigration speeds up to 1000 a year due to land grants. Due to our small size our population can only provide 560 soldiers though we make sure that they are highly trained. We have finished the restructuring and rearming of the military into a modern army trained in Iberian tactics. With expanded Papal funding and Burgundian investment we begin to restart expansion soon after the reorganisation of the military. We are concerned with the adoption of noble titles in the colonies and we remind them that their position is a privilege and not a right, and that instead of pursuing titles and wealth they should pursue happiness and prosperity for their people if they do so they shall find their gift in heaven. We actively discourage the adoption of the noble titles though we do not ban it. We begin to think about an expedition into the lands of the Seminole to convert them and subdue them.
    • Maryland: The colony of Maryland is small with around 22,000 colonists and 6000 native converts. We build a medical school in Maryland in order to combat new diseases while we also build a ship yard to help with trading. We expand 25 px into Lee county(50 px). We increase our efforts in sending missionaries north hoping to convert more of the natives while we also attempt to convert native leaders, we also focus on gaining more influence with the Seminoles in the north and after many years we seem to be making significant progress. The natives have been almost completely assimilated into our society after decades of conversion and education.
    • New Crete: It has a population of 4250, Andros Island is fully colonized though we halt expansion and consolidate.
    • Neues Deutschland: We settle in OTL Alabama in OTL Mobile county with a population of 3,000 colonists who are majority German. We expand by 25 px (60 px total). We welcome the coming of the cannonesses from Cologne and they soon become an important part of the colony. We send an expedition of soldiers and missionaries to make peaceful contact with the natives and help convert the natives. We begin to try to make peaceful relations with the natives and prevent further conflict.
  • Russia: Reconstruction ends and expansion in Siberia continues. Construction of Moscow as a second capital begins.
(Note: Mayan and Mexican refer to the cultural groups, Maian refers to the nation as a whole and its government.
  • Cologne: Archbishop Aldrich, having spent a few years mourning the loss of Abbess Hadwig, comes down with a fever and is unable to achieve much. Two Popes have died during his reign. He has lived a long and eventful life. He watches the roads being built in Burgundy, the roads being built in the Holy Roman Empire, and smiles. Despite all this reputed heresy, which saddens him, he is able to go to Heaven having achieved something. This has been a long reign full of much familial strife and periods of slowness, but he has pushed through and the German Paper has become his greatest achievement. He sits down and writes a final article in the German Paper as he dies. It is incredibly well written, with all the last wisdom he can muster, and betrays a deep melancholy and longing for his family. It is a human longing, and the people love it. They gravitate to the Archbishop’s side once again as he dies, and he is remembered very fondly. As the elections for the new archbishop begin, the general public campaign against Caninites continues until there are very few heretics in Cologne and its surrounds. Arrich Stelzner prints a separate copy of Archbishop Aldrich’s Final Address and distributes it to the people for free.
    • Essen: The canonesses in 1597 elected another young sprightly commoner woman as abbess. She hails from outside of Cologne itself, as she originally came up through one of the daughter abbeys of the Order of Adelphina. Her name is Isengard Bauer, and she is the abbess first of her name. Abbess Isengard spends the first year of her tenure catching up on the general runnings of the place, and her obligations as Abbess-General to the entire Order. By 1598, however, she has sent her thanks to the Knights Hospitaller on behalf of the Adelphinian Canonesses in Neu Deutschland. A few canonesses in Neu Deutschland express their concerns that approaching natives with soldiers may not be very peaceful. Meanwhile, canonesses generally in Neu Deutschland get to work on attaching a school and infirmary to the abbey. Construction begins, with the help of newly recruited natives, but construction is slow. The small daughter abbeys attached to each of the other council members/colonists integrate themselves into the community and begin to provide advice to the councillors to ensure that the Hospitaller colonies run peacefully and effectively. Meanwhile in Tondo, the school and hospital are complete and Tondoese and German Adelphinian canonesses work hand in hand to teach the masses and heal the masses. The few Tondoese priests ask the abbess of the canonesses in Tondo if there is any chance the Tondoese people might be able to be fully immersed in the church but still marry. The abbess sends a message to the Abbess-General to research this issue and make a final decision. Meanwhile, a small group of Adelphinian Canonesses are curious so they go out into the Tondoese wilderness in search of the native or local customs.
  • Malaya: We acknowledge attempts from Ghurkani and Oman to spread more Islamic faith, and allow them to continue on the account that the population have religious freedom. Buddhism and Hinduism remain prominent in Malayan culture, and the King of Malaya announces that he will continue to practice secularism, as well as holds a public speech on how religion should not dictate Malayan way of life, as we are a multiracial nation. Forceful conversion and extremism will not be tolerated, and may come with severe penalty. We realise that the Muslim population is discontented with the conflict between Aryavarta and Ghurkani, and wish that both Muslims and Hindus realise that this is not going to escalate into religious discrimination. Mosques and Hindu temples will continue to operate as normal. We tell Ghurkani that the majority of Muslims in Malaya are Sunni, so they do not need to worry.
  • Gurkani Dip: We request that you allow some Shia imans into Malaya. This will help create some more diversity among your Muslim population.

1599[]

The Prussian person who wrote the De revolutionibis orbium celestium reveals himself to actually be a bishop named Ingolf Holtz.

France continues to expand in South America. The Philippines (Bahamas) are now fully French.

  • Kingdom of Burgundy: Guyana expands 50px west, Cape Charles, Avelskamp, and Nova Belgica expand by 50px each. Burgundian ships map in detail the otl Hudson Bay, which they call Heimans Bay, after the expeditions captain. A small outpost is established on Akimiski Island.
  • Rashidun Caliphate: Abdul Hamid Salih, first of the elected Caliphs, and father of his nation, worked tirelessly to rebuild the empire after the trrors and destruction of the Sixth Fitna. The new defunct Compact of Beyrut is greatly marginalized, now oversea trade from the port of Aden all the way to Sumatra and Busan are by far and away the most profitable. Many cities of the Caliphate were rebuilt and repopulated, bringing people back from the countriside where they fled during the conflict. Although the total death of the last 30 years reached as high as 2.8 million, overall the steady population growth of the Caliphate was mostly slowed down until now. As scientific and techonlogical improvements are made throughout the western wrold, the Caliphate at this point becomes not the adaptor, but the instigator of such discoveries, primarily through the centers of learning at Baghdad and Alexandria. Most importantly, however, is foreing policy. Caliph Salih thanks the African Sultan greatly for helping to topple the Abbasids from Power, but compels him to remove his armies from Benghazi. Instead, the Sultan is given a sizable stipend of gold as encouragment to instead explore for the New World. Islamic missionaries are ordanied and sent to various parts of Central Africa, Asia, and Southest Asia. The Ulema asks Pontus to shift from the influence of Russia to become a protectorate of the Rashidun Caliphate. The remaining Abbasid family are completely deposed from every position, and forced into exile from the nation. Where they went is at this point uncertain. Not wanting to be outdone by the Pope and the Ahl Al-Kitab, the Caliph pushes the Ulema to follow up the precedent set by the King of France, and gradually transition the slave trade into indentured servatide. This plan, however, is scheduled to be completed in 10 years.
    • Can we talk about how this country has been dead for nearly 1000 years? -General
    • We can, would make an interesting conversation :) -Nate
    • I mean theres no stopping nate from getting some descendant of the family (true or not is a different case that nate has to worry about late) so he could technically claim it -Feud
    • The Rashidun isnt a family; it refers to the time when the Caliphate was run by nondynastic, semi-elected holy men. The new Rashidun is a more formalized elected system.-Nate
  • Gurkani Sultanate: The population continues to grow. The military is at about 150,000 men. Gunpower technology continues to develop. Meanwhile, Aquaducts begin to be built to provide Gurkani running water, primitive toilets and the nobles private baths. Good Sanitation is recently being heavily looked up upon, with the nation being much cleaner. Meanwhile, public baths similar to that of OTL Ottomans open up. All of this being supplied via aqueducts.
    • Banten Emirate: While the Gurkani power over Banten is not great due to the distance, they are able to get a mosque build, a capital is being worked on, "New Isfahan" while the populace is learning farsi and adopting Persian script. A Banten Emir is appointed.
  • Russia: Expansion continues in Siberia expanding 25 px East. Work on Moscow continues. With ever increasing Islamic influence over Pontus we begin to send our own influence in the form of guns and money to Pontusian politicians and such. As an idea created by Admiral Alexei Petropotov, we begin to construct a canal between the Don and Volga rivers to improve trade between the Chagantai, the Gurkani, and others in Asia with eastern Europe via the quicker way of transportation by water.
  • Aryavarta: The works of Indian astronomers is compiled in a book by the University of Ujjain. The Patliputra University now trains more medical practitioners. Another university for medical sciences is opened in Lahore. An observatory is built near Ujjain and one is built in Udaipur. The Charvak philosophy gains popularity in the Gujarat area. The Mahabodhi Temple is renovated by the government. The government provides funds for the construction of Buddhist monasteries and the Jain temple at Mount Abu. The University of Ujjain conducts debates on the partially Heliocentri model described in Aryabhatiyabhasya. The University of Surat is established for research and study in Mathematics(Ganit Vigyan) and Physics (Bhautik Vigyan). Theories on reflection, refraction and mirrors is developed upon. A workshop of alchemists is created for the court. Panini's works are also researched upon. Malaya is asked for a formal alliance with Aryavarta to combat the Muslim threat. (PLAYER RESPONSE) Magadhan influence grows over Bengal and Orrisa leading to a mixing of languages and the start of a new language New Magadhi. A new port city of Ashoka Nagar is established on the Gujarat coast. A proper naval academy is established. A new city of Chanakyapuri is developed in Magadh on the banks of the Ganga only for the military. A new and larger military academy is constructed. Chanakyapuri has wide roads and a well laid out sewer system. Several grounds and a military university is established in collaboration with other universities for the development of military technologies. Metal Cylinder Rockets enter regular use. The army is demobilized but army tactics are changed to counter a sudden attack.
    • Note- The Muslims are not being discriminated by the state but by the people themselves. They are no more massacared as the Bengal Hindu Sena has been dismantled.
    • Gurkani Dip: The Gurkani praises the end of muslim persecution. However, Aryavarta is reminded by Gurkani that they no longer have any harsh relations. Aryavarta is also reminded a new Caliphate has taken power in former Abbasid land, so those policies on Aryavarta may have changed as well. Offer: we offer you great money, the blast furnace (which we got from korea a while ago) in exchange for 500 war elephants.
    • We accept the offer.
  • Papal States: The Inquisition promulgates a document early this year, which clears the heliocentrism of De revolutionibis orbium celestium of any doctrinal error, and which requests that no restrictions be placed on its publication or distribution for the Faith's sake. In the thorough document, the Prefect of the Inquisition quotes his predecessor who, in 1540, wrote in his letter condemning the theological heliocentrism of the Novo Almagast, saying: "if there were a true demonstration that the sun is at the center of the world and the earth in the third heaven, and that the sun does not circle the earth but the earth circles the sun, then one would have to proceed with great care in explaining the Scriptures that appear contrary, and say rather that we do not understand them than that what is demonstrated is false. But I will not believe that there is such a demonstration, until it is shown me." The Prefect then goes on to say that, according to the advice of all the most highly-regarded astronomers of the age, the observation of a stellar paralax by the Prussian astronomers is a "true demonstration" that the Earth orbits the Sun. Indeed, priest-astronomers hired by the Prefect were able to replicate the observations. In keeping, therefore, with the 1540 Prefectural Brief, the Prefect concludes that, according to the best science, the Earth and the other planets do indeed orbit around the Sun, and any passages in Scripture which appear -on face value- to contradict this newly-discovered fact must be read allegorically, or as being written in the common parlance of the time. [Before anyone says I'm being implausible, the above quote comes from the otl Cardinal Bellarmine, who was involved in the Galileo affair.] Pope Innocent VIII grants the Brief his approval, and it is promulgated. The conservative Angelicum faction see the publication of the brief as a defeat for conservative, 'orthodox' (in their eyes), theology, and step up efforts to fight the perecived encroachment of heresy within the Church. When the identity of the author is revealed to be a Northern-Rite bishop, the faction sees it as further evidence of the heterodoxy of the Northern Church. Their letter to the Pope is finished and will be delivered early next year. In other news, the Pope marks the passing of the Archbishop of Cologne. Missions in Japan, Korea, China, Southern Africa, and throughout the New World continue.
  • United Tsardom of Bulgaria: Coloquially known as Belka, The United Kingdom of the Balkans, or the Belkan Tsardom taking from the popular references to the Balkans unified under Bulgaria and its much more closely unified peoples, Tsar Aleksandar while still the holder of the Holy Tsar title, retires it into somewhat obscurity as he makes great strides towards further uniting the Provinces of the Empire into a more singular state. The Tsar also fully works on learning the modernized parts of the Slavonic language and declares this the True language of the land now keeping Records, and giving Church sermons in the now more modernized Slavonic becoming known as Jugoslavic to the first speakers. This language specifically takes off with the Tsar and his son learning, the Imperial Bereaucrats, and the Orthodoxy priests and patriarchs. This begins spurring many elements of the upper nobility claiming the language to represent a higher pretige in imperial society who also begin to adopt albeit slowly due to the early nature of the language. The Tsardoms Population reaches nearly 9 million flat out. Lots of intermarrying and mixing occurs in the shared borders of the Serbian and Bulgarian provinces. While the empire does maintain infrastrucure and pretty solid cohesiveness, in order to more effectively govern the Tsar begins to specifically combing through various historical sources and documents specifically to find various cities, or border disputes various provinces have with each other, and the status of various important cities in the Empire. This is to truly delineate various sepArations such as the Status of Visegrad and Montenegro, as well as the restructuring of the capital and various cities into their own districts within the empire. This all takes form in the Sarajevo Council where the high nobles, provincial governors, influential merchants, and finally the Tsar and his personal retinues are to sit and discuss these within the empire. Infrastructure building and provincial integration remains constant in Serbia as attempts to bring the highways all the way to the Bosnian border. This also occurs around Moldavia as the highway system reaches completion.

We send a trade envoy, along with sending Imams to spread Islam in West Africa mostly in Benin to win them over. • Oman: A trade fleet visits Aceh this year. Oman again offers a formal alliance with Java to protect this outpost of the Ibadi faith. (MOD RESPONSE please).
    • Java accepts. -scraw
  • Japan: Six long years have passed since the Great Battle of Kyoto ended with the decimation of both the Southern Daiymo who were burned alive in the Great Fire of Kyoto and the Northern Daiymo who met their end to the swords of the peasants. With the Loyalist victory, both the Shogun and the Emperor were restored to in Kyoto, and the peasants were awarded their own estates once again. Several problems arose, however, when the heirs of the daiymos secured the lands of the peasants who went away, thus the peasants revolted with some succeeding and others failing. The failed revolters who were not killed, however, escaped back to Kyoto where they were given sanctuary and began the rebuilding of Kyoto. The peasants however, were angry that the daiymos retook the land, and it was here that both the Shogun and the Emperor promised to restore land to the peasantry from the daiymo. At the same time, however, the Shogun promised to the daiymo that they would be able to keep their rule if they swore loyalty to him, and everyone else would die to the sword. This angered the peasants of the surrendered daiymos, so they revolted, and were defeated by the Shogun. In the midst of it all, the Shogun and the Emperor have an internal power struggle, and it is decided that the Shogun shall rebuild the Great Japanese Army while the Emperor rebuilds Kyoto. This year, the last phase of rebuildment for Kyoto and the Grand Japanese Army both occur, and shall be completed by next year, with the dawn of the new century where the final reunification campaign shall be launched.
  • Korea: Hearing of the ambitious plans of the Japanese court, the Empress Kim Sin-bi sends shipments of gold bullion to help with the plan. Serfdom is formally abolished and formally government-owned land in Manchuria is granted to these serfs, who know accept the status of peasantry. This has been met with a lot of controversy, but the Empress hopes this will speed up the settlement of Manchuria and in-turn legitimize rule in the region. Peasantry continue their transition from farming grains and to the cultivation of silkworms (which produce silk) and cash crops (principally tea leaves and cotton). Christianity continues to rapidly spread in face of the decline of Confucianism.
