1720

So begins the year of our Lord 1720, you have one more hour to post in 1719. SkyGreen24 22:03, July 1st, 2017 (UTC)

Scholars of the Enlightenment in Italy begin applying the scientific method to gain greater understanding of chemistry and biology. They start with ignoring the works of beastearies and alchemy of the Middle Ages and work on developing these sciences based on classical texts. Some scholars in France, however, utilize the scientific method in an attempt to isolate the philosopher's stone.

A school of Makan Kafirs in Malaya develop the "Anguzi" magic for exorcism of incubus demons, after understanding it used to remove evil from women. This is the start of Makan mysticism.

The Japanese Shogun and Emperor both authorize sending envoys to Europe to facilitate learning of European governmental techniques which have proven good enough to govern colonial empires including some in Asia. Envoys are also sent to the Jin to establish formal diplomatic relations. Japan also is unsurprisingly unaffected by the cut off of bullion from china, having a fair share of their own.

  • Nunatsiaq: The Chipewyan Syllabic Alphabet has been completed and Guuti has begun introducing it in his Chiefdom and, through traders and diplomats, to others. The Western Slavey Tribe, on the west bank of the Slavey Lake, has agreed to become a vassal of the Chiefdom after it was severely weakened through raiding with the chiefdom's lake navy. Nunatsiaq explorers have boarded canoes to travel up the Deh-Cho river and make contact with northern Inuit tribes. They are expected to get to the arctic ocean in 1722. Using the Lake Navy, Guuti I expands his empire along the edges of the Great Slave lake and vassalizes several nearby tribes. Guuti orders a chronicle to be written of him in the new syllabic alphabet. Only 20 people know the alphabet so far. While constructing a building in Yellow Knife, a huge deposit of diamonds is discovered. They begin to be used as a currency and a way to bribe other tribes into submission as well as a material for arrowheads due to their sharp nature.
  • How did you establish an alphabet in like two to three years, -Feud
  • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor Iyasu grows old, and administrates the nation carefully in his final years. As all the princes had loaned their military under Theodore's control for the duration of the conquest of Egypt, Iyasu organizes the military as a central unit under the direct control of the Emperor, thereby removing the Princes' personal powers. He also orders the construction of a grand palace in Medina Jamil, situated right next to the monastery of the Ark of the Covenant, based on the Arab baroque style developed in the last century. Iyasu also keeps the Roman Crown given by the Roman Pope, but instead of wearing it he keeps it in the treasury of Medina Jamil. The reason being, it should never be seen as the Ethiopian emperor crowned by a Chalcedonian Pope. Iyasu also pushes for agricultural reforms, utilizing the Nile river-valley to nationalize economic output. Representatives of the Egyptian governor, on behalf of the Emperor meets the Belkan envoy at Damietta. They express the desire for the Kingdom of Egypt to continue the same trade as it had under the previous Sultanate. Pope John XV dies this year and an election of bishops at Alexandria elects the monk who is named Pope Matthew III. The Coptic church of the five diocese is centralized under the Holy See in Alexandria. Coptic Christianity is made the official religion over Egypt, while the Muslims are tolerated under severe discrimination. Pope Matthew would be open to the idea of uniting with the Catholic Church if they handled the Chacledonian heresy that has existed since the Fifth Century. In such a time, they would be free to hold a Council in Alexandria, for which the Coptic Pope would preside as it had been in ancient times. Domestically, Arab cuisine and culture in Egypt and Ethiopia is replaced with the Ethiopian food and music.
  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded and ports are constructed. The construction of the war fleet continues. The king, with the designs and guidance of his French advisers, orders the construction of a European style dock in Kaluahine, to house the Boudeuse and any other large ships that should arrive in the islands. With the king's permission Baret begins constructing a small, European-style house for himself within the capital city. With the help of some labors and basic tools, he constructs the first stone house on Hawaii, whitewashed with lime made from white coral fished from the sea. The Frenchmen also lend their expertise to the designs for the city, helping to finish the coral brick buildings, while also introducing the Hawaiians to wood siding techniques. The former military officer who stayed behind on the island, René de Froulay, continues to drill a group of Hawaiian warriors, which the king observes. The southern islands continue to be settled, with agriculture and trade booming, both with the native Polynesians and the infrequent European trade ship. Hawaiian traders en route to the Tu'i Tonga Empire successfully settle in Tokelau, to the north of Samoa. Similarly interest in the foreigners causes some to explore directly west from the southern islands in the direction the French vessels were generally traveling. They reach the a group of several small islands, where they construct camps, known as the Komohana Islands. From here they travel further west, reaching Tuvalu.
  • Great Jin: The imperial court begins to encourage overseas trade (due to the favourable balance of payments) to compensate for a drop in the silver supply, the main medium of medium-value transactions. Meanwhile to avoid a fiscal crisis, a crackdown on tax evasion begins, with commissioners being hired to penetrate through thickets of falsified land registers and coded account books. Internal commerce continues be promoted, facilitating it by maintaining canals and paved roadway. The government continues the state-directed augmentation of industrial complexes and shipyards devoted to producing armoury, weaponry, and other military items to complement the states' militaristic foreign policy. Due to the rising demand for manufactures and luxury goods (from both the domestic and foreign market), and the rise in food supply (due to the implementation of modern agricultural methods and techniques and usage of high-yield crops such as maize and potatoes), a division of labour is made. Many peasants and serfs shift from an agrarian lifestyle to work in the cultivation of cash crops (such as tea or cotton) and the the production of luxury goods (such as porcelain, silk, silk-based textiles). The grid system is implemented in all major settlements, in order to prevent population build-up due to urbanization. Major roads are paved and canals are expanded to prevent accumulating traffic, while the sewage system is expanded. Architecture deemed of poor taste and quality is revamped, while the imperial court discourages the production of arts and crafts that are not acceptable to traditional Confucian standards; including vividly-coloured non-white porcelain, and idealistic paintings (in-favour of realistic paintings). A crackdown on foot binding continues, with those with bound feet being encouraged to unbind them. Physicians are sent throughout all villages and towns, instructing of proper methods of bound foot-reversal, and implications of bound feet. Furthermore, the Empress dowager starts the compilation of the Siku Quanshu; with editors (who are promised official posts after they had transcribed a given number of words within a set time) collected and annotated over ten thousand manuscripts from the imperial collections and other libraries. However, ironically, she begins to implement literary inquisition as a method of silencing opposition. The accusation of individuals began with the monarch's own interpretation of the true meaning of the corresponding words. If the emperor decided these were derogatory or cynical towards the dynasty, persecution would commence. Another expedition is sent to former Haegajang, with experts contacting the natives and examining their culture and language (SKY PAPI RESPONSE). Relations with Giapan are reluctantly reestablished, but maritime patrols along the Korea strait and the Eastern Sea continue to counter perceived Giapanois militarism.
  • The Angu-Zia welcome the Dajin and wish to learn more about their language and culture as well.
  • Malaya: The King expresses interest in this new concept of "Enlightenment", but nothing is in the works yet. Several scholars try to identify the exorcism methods of the Anguzi magic, but do not make advancements yet. Self-established Makanist mystics begin to spread their concepts of magic healing into the community, much to further suspicion by intellectual institutes. The Princes have been enrolled into the University of Malaya, and will study a variety of subjects there. Expansion efforts in Borneo are closing in to their goal, and the total incorporation of North Borneo into Malaya will be accomplished in a few years. The National Library now boasts a total of 10,000 books, although a recent influx of Anguzi magical texts are ticking off the librarians.
  • Iberia: Unrest in Catalan lands begins to settle down, and an army of 5000 is sent to restore order to Barcelona. The presence of Iberian troops scatters the rebels into the countryside or underground, where they plot in silence. João II favors a policy of appeasing Catalonia by allowing them to keep most of their laws and customs. In agreement with Savoy, Sardinia's independence is finally recognized by treaty, bringing peace, but Iberia continues to maintain its claim to the two islands. With an end to internal conflict and the conflict with France, the kingdom is now free to focus on colonial affairs. In reaction to the wave of discoveries by French explorers in the Pacific, Iberia begins its own endeavors to chart the ocean, as well as strengthening existing trade routes to Asia. The explorer Alfonso de Pinedo is commissioned to lead the first expedition. Sailing from Nova Lusitânia, he discovers the Marquesas Islands, charting four of the southernmost islands in the archipelago. Afterwards, the crew sights Tuvalu, making contact with the natives. Unable to land, Pinedo finally reaches the Santa Cruz Islands (part of the Solomon Islands), where he remains for several months. During their stay, the Iberians have tense relations with the native islanders, which Pinedo describes as cannibalistic. They build a small settlement on Santo Isabel, from which they explore the surrounding islands, including Guadalcanal and Makira, the former becoming the site of a secondary settlement. In August, however, both settlements are abandoned and Alfonso de Pinedo decides to return to Nova Lusitânia, passing the Marshall Islands and Wake Island along the way. Meanwhile, the Galápagos Islands, a favorite haunt for pirates, are claimed as part of Nova Lusitânia.
  • Al-Afriqia State | Anarchic Society of the Kongo: After a successful coup d'etat against Aseel, his wife, their two children, as well as many high-class nobles of the monarchic class, the Al-Afriqia State is plunged into hysteria as the killer, Dhaakir el-Ghaffari, proclaims an era of no rules for this society and nation, labeling it the "ِىشقؤاهؤ ٍخؤهثفغ خب فاث ،خىلخ (Anarchic Society of the Kongo)". The cleansing that had ended in 1711, had ended in over 224,000 deaths, with the remaining population staying near 700,000. Dhaakir, in hopes to lead a final purge in the Kongo, begins the "؛ثقهخي خب ؛شسسهىل (Period of Passing)", in hopes of executing all of the members living in the state that had ties with King Aseel. Methods of death include the falling of a large boulder from the top of the royal palace to the ground (where the victim would be). The "ـعقغ خب [شفث (Jury of Fate)", a class of citizens known to have god-like powers and abilities, began to label the certain members of the society that were allied with Aseel during his final days, and so far, 25,000 deaths are reported. Numerous tribes have been born out of this time of chaos, and have begun to lay waste to the capital city of M'banza.
  • Russia: Rebuilding is 98% complete, with this the tsar authorizes trips to Arcadia. 200 settlers are sent to each are sent to Ostrov, Attu and Kiska Island. The Colonial Authority spreads pamphlets across the Empire advertising settlement in Arcadia and Siberia. The Grand Patriarch of Moscow sends envoys with gifts to the Pope of Cairo and the Ethiopian Empire, hoping for good relations. Tuvov is expanded 10 px into the Tuvov Peninsula. Naval experts for the tsar begin to research ships capable of breaking the ice during trips to Arcadia, and other fast long range sleek ships capable of ocean travel, to compete with the Iberians.
  • Angu-Zia Union: The Tingu Namton A'fao continues to protect the Sambia from their women while teaching select few from the Sambia, both male and female, the norms of the Angu and Zia. Trading with the Bilibil expands as the Bilibil start reaching further. The Dajin continue teaching the Angu their tongue as well as a peculiar thing named Hangul, which catches the attention of the Council. The Council decides on reaching out to the Fore, offering supplies, women and protection in exchange for their loyalty (vassalization offer).
    • Sambia: The tribes of Sambia begin to change their rituals in accordance to Tingu A'fao Koito's preaching and begin joining in on the Bilibil trade.
    • The Fore people accept. -scraw
  • France: In the year of our Lord 1720, France continues to experience internal prosperity. Francis I continues to expand his palace, installing a human zoo this year. The human zoo has American tribes, Asians, and African tribes. The construction of trade ships in the East Indies continues, with trade of spices to the west, as well as trade with Asia, increasing dramatically. French traders continue to cross the Pacific, occasionally trading with locals for supplies in Polynesia. Captain Louis-Antoine Véron returns to France and publishes his findings from Hawaii and the rest of Polynesia, fascinating the public and government alike. Véron is promoted and by the end of the year is placed at the head of an even larger expedition. The French government equips him with several ships, a large stockpile of arms and supplies, seeds and old world planets, and several specialists, including a linguist, botanists, and some missionaries. The expedition continues similarly to the first, stopping first at Tahiti before continuing north to Hawaii. Véron is once again welcomed by the king and treated as a special guest. With the king's permission the French begin exploring and studying the islands, recording more information about the wildlife and customs of the region. Véron proposes a trade pact with the Hawaiians, in the hopes that a formal agreement will someday later aid a French claim to the region, as well as establish relations with a potentially crucial ally. As part of the deal Véron offers the Hawaiians his cache of weaponry, including rifles, swords, ammunition, and a few cannons. He also begins construction of two forts, one on the southern tip of Hawaii near the kingdom's capital, and another outside the growing city of Honolulu, to guard two of the nation's most important harbors, as well as establish a French presence and location for future residency. Ultimately, however, Véron places the forts in the possession of the native Hawaiians. Meanwhile the linguist, Gaspard Ribault, attempts to record the native language, while also inadvertently creating a written form of the language. He works with the king and several other officials, teaching them French in the process. The seeds and plants brought by the Frenchmen are planted across the island, and they take kindly to the Hawaiian climate. After spending several months on the island Véron eventually departs taking with him a great deal of knowledge, and also a Polynesian navigator to aid him. He begins the next phase of his expedition; the exploration of the alleged southern continent. Following the favorable currents and winds heading to the west, Véron reaches Wake Island and heads south through the Marshall Islands. His Hawaiian navigator leads him to Majuro where there is already a Hawaiian camp, and they resupply there. He continues west and slightly south, reaching Papua New Guinea. He discovers that along the northeast coast of the island there is a fairly organized nation (the Angu-Zia Union), and attempts to initiate contact and trade with the locals. he doesn't stay long however, but continues following the coast until the Torres Strait, where he turns south toward another island. He soon finds that this island is much larger than any other in the area, following the coast until he reaches the island's southern tip, where he turns east. He finds another set of islands (New Zealand), however, the locals are much more hostile, and after circling around the islands he continues to Tahiti to resupply, before heading east back to civilization (in early 1721). Overseas, the French East India company continues to experience prosperity with African slaves from French Zaire and the port Luanda providing the large output of slave traffic. The or noir mines (OTL Minas Gerras) continues to expand providing an extremely large gold output. Or Noir becomes the largest city in the new world this year. In the East Indies the prominence of the monopoly on the spice trade continues to provide large economic output for the crown and the East India company.
  • The Angu-Zia greet the big ship men with pigs.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: In the two British Indian states the schools operated by the British continue to run while army training centres are maintained and the London Civil Service school is established to train British boys to become civil servants abroad educating them in various languages largely Hindi. British merchants take more a direct role in investment in the coastal regions while some Indians are brought over to the African colonies. England's non- Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement. There is a rise in the use of the seed drill throughout Britain. Agricultural revolution continues to work with the country continuing use of land reclamation, four field crop rotation and enclosures. The economic success is furthered by growing trading with other European nations offering loans and selling weapons which are produced in a growing London city. England has 6.5 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.6 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. The army now has 14,000 in England, 14,000 in Scotland, 10,000 in Scotland and 5000 in Wales and an additional 9000 troops are overseas with 7000 in Arcadia, 1000 in Haiti as well as 500 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. The fleet is divided with 150 ships stationed in Portsmouth and 150 ships stationed in Bristol. Trade with colonies in a triangular trade going through Africa, America and Europe is profitable. The King passes away this year leaving his 11 year old son as King, Walpole in the King's will is appointed to First Lord of the Treasury to rule the country as Parliament is united in greater control. This makes Robert Walpole effectively the first Prime Minister and he has a great amount of power over appointment of ministers as Parliament is the regent. Pinchbeck is created as an alloy for the first time by a clock maker.
    • British Arcadia: These Iroquois are respected and all no pushing into their land. Fearing the growing native issue more troops from Britain are moved over to Arcadia. All trade with natives south of Avalon and in Arcadia is ended due to there growing power. The 7000 troops in Arcadia are spread out with 1000 in New York, 3000 in Henry's land, 1000 in New Gwynedd and the remaining 2000 are divided between the remaining areas. In addition local militia forces do exist but they aren't standing and are spread out although they are armed. In New Essex there is another push 50 px to the west with new arriving colonists from England.
  • Kingdoms of Burgundy and Prussia: With peace returning to Northern Europe, the blockade of Scandinavia is lifted. The Prusso-Burgundian Crown begins using the two kingdoms' combined economic weight to influence the northern Imperial states. In the Pacific, Dutch explorers stumble upon an island they name "New Burgundy" OTL New Britain), claiming it for Burgundy. New Germany on Arcadia expands 50 px north. Maryland expands 50 px north.

1721

Another day, another collection of ASB "ideas" turn. You have one hour to post in 1720 if you haven't yet. SkyGreen24 22:13, July 2nd, 2017 (UTC)

  • Nunatsiaq: Explorers going along the De-Cho river meet the Sahtu Tribe that lives on the great bear lake. They introduce statues of Guuti I and start converting people to his cult, which has been termed Guutism. Guuti expands his chiefdom to the shores of the Tlicho Lake and begins building a fleet of boats to conquer the areas around there. A Dene inventor in Yellow Knife creates the wheel and it begins being put to use. Guuti uses his new supply of diamonds to bribe the peoples of the Buffalo forest into joining his chiefdom. A road begins to built from Yellow Knife to the Tlicho Lake. Yellow Knife's population grows and they begin using agriculture in some areas of the city. A large megalithic statue of Guuti is built at the center of the city. The Diamond deposit is turned into a full-on mine. Diplomats are sent to inuit tribes and a cultural exchange between the Dene and Inuit begin. Several Inuit tribes pledge their allegiance to the Chiefdom in exchange for food as inuit food sources have dried up due to the little ice age. This allows the chiefdom to gain parts of Nunavut and vassalization of several other Inuit tribes. Guuti I declares his Chiefdom the Guuti Empire and him as the emperor. He uses the frozen over areas of the arctic ocean to launch land invasions with his standing army and makes money off of destroying and raiding various Inuit villages. The Inuit population is greatly reduced. They are expected to crumple under pressure by 1730.
  • Papal States: Maria-Theresa Cornaro graduates the Immaculata University with a PhD in mathematics, and is immediately offered a professorship at the University of Bologna. Although they were reticent to allow a woman to study mathematics there, the Bolognese have regretted their decision ever since, given the high quality of Cornaro's mathematical output. She takes up the position, becoming the first woman professor in history (at a European university at least). Pope Urban VII, receiving the Coptic Pope Matthew III's letter, asks the Prefect of the Inquisition to devise a definition on the nature of Christ which would be acceptable to both Chalcedonian and non-Chalcedonian Christians. After several months, the Prefect and a group of hand-picked theologians comes up with this: "We confess the mystery of the Word of God made flesh who become truly man. We confess that He became incarnate for us, taking to himself a real body with a rational soul. He shared our humanity in all things except sin. We confess that our Lord and our God, our Saviour and the King of all, Jesus Christ, is perfect God as to His divinity and perfect man as to His humanity. In Him His divinity is united to His humanity. This Union is real, perfect, without blending or mingling, without confusion, without alteration, without division, without the least separation. He who is God eternal and indivisible, became visible in the flesh and took the form of servant. In him are united, in a real, perfect indivisible and inseparable way, divinity and humanity, and in him all their properties are present and active." The Pope, considering it orthodox, sends it to Coptic Pope Mark III with a note suggesting that the Copts and Catholics could both subscribe to such a description [NOTE: Two Coptic Popes and two Catholic Popes have both subscribed to this definition]. Urban continues by saying that if Mark agrees, then ecclesiological/organisational discussions for reunification could begin.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies and adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. The army continues convincing contracted servants. We continue colonial expansion in Northern Somalia, in the South and in the Malindi and Mombassa area.  Smallpox vaccines are introduced from Egypt and the population is slowly vaccinated. Colonisation steadily increase as medicine and weaponry becomes more widespread. Several libraries are built in Swahili.  Technological advances speed up as a result of the cultural and technological exchanges in the embassies.  With the war against Ethiopia ending, we wish for a resumption of relations; thus, we send a state gift including many wares to Ethiopia and also multiple merchants. As a sign of good will, Swahili is also willing to help Ethiopia in technological advancement and an establishment of a university in Ethiopia. In the madrassa of Mogasihu, the scholar Maofa develops a formula that connects trigonometry with imaginary numbers.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: Qamar is further developed.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
  • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor Iyasu dies, and is entombed with his ancestors in Medina Jamil to a magnificent funeral. The Pope Matthew III goes from Alexandria to the capital, and promptly leads the ceremony to crown his son Theodore as Emperor to succeed him. Pope Matthew is pleased with the Catholic proposal, and will defer a council to discuss the matter for 1725, over which the Pope of Alexandria will preside. Theodore, being a Great Leader, continues all the policies of his father. Having assumed all the military of the feudal princes, Theodore annexes all the Princes' lands to himself, uniting the whole empire as a single nation under his rule. Egypt goes under a process of transitioning into the feudal rule, first creating the nation as the Kingdom of Egypt in personal union with the Emperor. As a kingdom, the millet system under the Sultanate is removed and replaced with a series of Coptic nobility under the Emperor. In light of that, the Empire continues its agricultural reforms as well, centralizing and nationalizing the fertile regions of the Nile river valley. A series of canals are planned that will irregate more of Egypt and Ethiopia from the Nile. Ethiopia accepts Swahili's offer for a university, and asks to import Swahili scholars to plant the school in Gondar. The new Emperor tries to get people in Ethiopia to wear the Fezz, cause fezzes are cool. It seems unlikely to catch on.
  • Anarchic Society of the Kongo: Dhaakir el-Ghaffari, the killer of Aseel, is finally imprisoned for previously being a royal guard prior to him killing the Sultan. Dhaakir, being a polarized figure in Zayiyr, is finally found missing from his cell and subsequently establishes a northern settlement of his followers and the remaining military of Zayiyr. The Islamic Kingdom of Anziku is a theocratic state that believes that Dhaakir is the savior of Zayiyr, and controls OTL Tio, Loango. The Anarchic Society continues to descend into madness as the population begins to sharply increase due to a large influx in intercourse that occurs on the streets of the burning M'banza. Total deaths from both the Period of Passing and random murders stacks up to 76,000. The remaining population from the split stands at 370,000.
    • Islamic Kingdom of Anziku: Holy Father Dhaakir, leader of Anziku, begins his reign by forcing 10,000 citizens to build a wall dividing the once united state. A small famine consumes the 300,000 citizens, and results in a small starvation-related death cases. Holy Father Dhaakir proclaims the Kingdom to be the most powerful nation in all of Afriqia. A set of laws based off of the laws seen in the Quran and other Islamic societies.
  • Great Jin: A crackdown on land-tax evasion continues, with commissioners being hired to penetrate through thickets of falsified land registers and coded account books; confiscated properties are placed under government control. To facilitate a recovery in limited silver stocks, overseas trade is encouraged due to the disproportionately favourable balance of payments. The compilation of the Siku Quanshu continues; with editors (who are promised official posts after they had transcribed a given number of words within a set time) collected and annotated over ten thousand manuscripts from the imperial collections and other libraries. However, ironically, she begins to implement literary inquisition as a method of silencing opposition. The accusation of individuals began with the monarch's own interpretation of the true meaning of the corresponding words. If the emperor decided these were derogatory or cynical towards the dynasty, persecution would commence. Due to the fairly-centralized tribal societies of Haegajang adopting Hangul, a small fleet (three carrier vessels, one warship) consisting of a group of scholar-officials and interpreters are sent to aid them; and to examine their culture and language. Haegajang is reestablished as a small trading post, consisting of about a hundred colonists.
  • The Angu welcome the Dajin with birds of paradise and other gifts in order to soothe the wise big ship men.
  • Iberia: Alfonso de Pinedo reaches the coast of Maiam in January and returns from his voyage, spreading news of his discoveries to Iberia. There is much enthusiasm for his colonial ambitions in Nova Lusitânia, but less so in the mainland, so he travels to Iberia to gather support for a second expedition. Nova Lusitânia, Maranhão and Mêcicipi continue expansion along their river networks. Macáçar grows as a center of both East Indies and Pacific trade. Coinciding with the collapse of the Caliphate and rise of Ethiopia, a popular essay mentions the situation in Kongo, and uses it as an example of the evils of Islam and their disastrous effect on nations. This spurs renewed interest in converting the natives of Africa. With the Kongolese realm falling into ruin, Iberia begins to involve itself in their political struggles, naturally supporting the more "Christian" (or at least traditional non-Islamic) factions. They offer protection to what remains of the government, and alliance against the Anziku of the north. Meanwhile, Portuguese merchants buy thousands of slaves from Loango -- most were sold into slavery after fleeing Kongo proper -- and bring them to the New World.
  • Ququququ: The Tingu Namton A'fao continues to protect the Sambia from their women while teaching select few from the Sambia, both male and female, the norms of the Angu and Zia. Trading with the Bilibil expands as the Bilibil start reaching further. The Dajin continue teaching the Ququququ their tongue as well as a peculiar thing named Hangul, which catches the attention of the Council. The Angu-Zia rename themselves Ququququ in accordance with Koito's proposal of a simpler name for the unified tribes.
    • Sambia: The Sambia tribes are slowly becoming more and more integrated into Angu-Zia customs and culture and are slowly accepting the Hangul script.
    • Fore: The Fore, who the Namton A'fao has forbidden eating their deceased slowly notice less Kuru issue as they accept the mummification of their ancestors, imitating the Hamtai tribe of the

United Kingdom of Great Britain: In the two British Indian states the schools operated by the British continue to run while army training centres are maintained and the London Civil Service school is established to train British boys to become civil servants abroad educating them in various languages largely Hindi.

In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the south into OTL Florida with new arriving colonists from England.
  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded and ports are constructed. The construction of the war fleet continues. We welcome Véron back to the Hawaiian Islands, and gladly accept his trade agreement. Construction of the forts began with French help continues, as does the renovation of the capital and other major cities.
  • Saxony: The Bandits that had been accumulated are released on the Nation under the Command of a Saxon General. The bandit army is 10,000 strong. But, considering the fact the Bandits are just trying to carve out a homeland after Russia turned their backs on them. Instead of stealing from the Local People they just raid grain and gold stores of rich nobles and distribute the money and grain they can spate to the local commoners to buy their loyalty almost and to draw more into their ranks. They are also rather professional after being re-drilled and trained by Saxony along with their experience from the Russian civil war. Meanwhile, the Saxon army undergoes massive reworks using the information about the Russian civil war and reworks their army to be more combat effective.
  • France: In the year of our Lord 1721, France continues to experience internal prosperity. Captain Louis-Antoine Véron returns to France this year after another successful voyage, bringing information about the Pacific and Australia.
  • Russia: Rebuilding is over, and the tsar militarily begins to look back to the Khanate, for round two, and also west to Poland. Out east the RTK begins to finance Russian missions in the East Asia region. Russian fur traders begin to travel to Japan, namely Hokkaido and western Honshu. The Population of Siberia begins to grow. RTK missions also see a great expansion of Tuvov 15 px into The Peninsula.

NOTE: It's America Day so we're giving people an extra day to post, feel free to use this to post what you couldn't and annoy the mods about the privileged American players (don't actually do the latter) SkyGreen24 21:17, July 4th, 2017 (UTC)

Maria-Theresa Cornaro, the first female professor of a European university, is under scrutiny due to an alleged relationship with Pope Urban VII. The Pope himself is accused of having taken her as a concubine and using his secular power to ensure she enrolls and finishes the University of Bologna. This rumour soon spreads throughout Italy and the rest of Europe.

The Asmat people grow in great prominence in West Papua, famed for their wood carving.

A particularly harsh winter in North America freezes over many lakes in the plains and Canada.

The Patriarch of Mar Thoma, Patriarch of Orthodox Nestorianism in the Mongol Khanate, issues decrees in favor of Trinitarian theology and condemns idolatry, to combat rampant animism across native Mongols in the region.

  • Guuti Empire: The Guuti Empire experiences mass desertion from its armies and mass conversion to Guutism as a way of "getting out" of the bad winter. The settlement of Yellow Knife grows and new ways of replanting specific seeds for maximum output(early agriculture). The reduced Guuti armies "requisition" food from non-Dene areas of the empire. Mass rebellions are experienced. Guuti I gets a life-threatening illness from the cold and falls sick, jeopardizing the empire as its hold on people was mostly built around him. Nunas Guuti, or Nunas I, Guuti's eldest child and daughter, is next in line for the throne and has killed all the other heirs to ensure she will become the leader. She acts as Guuti's regent and consolidates her hold on the Devotees of Guuti and the military, creating a rigid hierarchy of officers and promotions based off of skill, not family. Cannibalism becomes widespread in the areas of the empire near Great Bear Lake as the people need to survive. Most of the victims are Inuits and those who have died from the cold. Nunas outlaws cannibalism in accordance to the laws of Guutism and begins to build a mythology around the now ill king.
  • France: Fort is built in New Britain to better facilitate transpacific trade. Its name is corrupted from Ququ to Fort Queer.
    • I think it's a little early for people to be building permanent settlements like forts in Oceania. France, Iberia, Britain, and Burgundy all have wealthy colonies of their own, so the motivation is not there. It's also really hard to maintain a fort on a remote island like that, which is why in OTL most European attempts to establish settlements failed until the time of Captain Cook, and then some. -General
    • I understand were you are coming from, but this fort is meant to be like OTL Manila facilitating transpacific trade. For transpacific trade a fort is needed around that area. Realistically, New Britain is close to the French West Indies so extremely easy to maintain. -oct
  • Papal States: Pope Urban strenuously denies the allegations of impropriety with Professor Cornaro, as does she. In order to put any rumours to rest, Cornaro submits to a physical examination by doctors (one Jew, one Scandinavian 'Protestant' who was in Rome visiting), who both show she is still physically a virgin. The Pope also points out that she was enrolled at the university whilst he was still in Iberia. Furthermore, the Chancellor of the University of Bologna writes a public letter which blames the scurrilous rumour on those who oppose the idea of women receiving advanced education and gaining positions of authority, an ideology which is incompatible with Pope Cornelius II's encyclical Mulieres honore on the dignity of women. Moving on to less scurrilous matters, Pope Urban is greatly pleased at the Coptic Pope Mark's acceptance of the declaration of last year. He asks him for clarification on what the council will be: does Mark wish to have a full Ecumenical Council which includes the Catholic Church? Or is the council for the Coptic Church? In other news, with Pope Urban's native Iberia saying it wants to do more to spread Christianity in Africa, the Pope writes to Iberia requesting funding and protection for the Southern Africa Missions. The Papal Legate to the Mongol Khanate is pleased with the Nestorian move towards more orthodox theology, and reiterates Rome's offer for the Nestorian Church to rejoin communion with the Catholic Church as an autonomous sui iuris church (similar to the Church of the Northern Rite, and the Sakhan Church of the East) [Mod Response Please]. Missions continue in the New World, in China-Korea, Japan, Lan Xang, and Southern Africa.
    • Iberian Diplomacy: Iberia agrees to fund and protect the missions.
  • Saxony: Still supporting the Pope and Christian Church zealously Saxony instructs their judge to call a Imperial Court hearing to rule on the validity of this rumor and to if the rumor is proved false then to ban the spreading of it lest the gossipers tongue be cut out. Meanwhile, they continue their expedition in Poland and also begin to increase their military size in preparation for further expansion. In the meantime the Kingdom of Thrugia-Saxony is declared, claims Thurgia, Saxony, Messin, Nassau, and the Holy Roman Emperor is asked to crown him.
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Papal Envoy to Saxony thanks the King for his perpetual fidelity to Holy Church and to the See of St Peter. He informs the king that an independent examination by Jewish and Scandinavian Protestant doctors has proved conclusively that Professor Cornaro is still physically a virgin, which should thus put the obscene and horrendous rumour to rest.
    • Saxon Update: With the rumor proven false anyone who continues to spread the rumors will have their young cut out lords include within Saxon land.
    • HREmperor Dip: Emperor William declines, stating that such a move could antagonize Austria (which is still and archduchy), and that the ascension of states to new kingdoms should first be approved by the Diet and the Court.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies and adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. The army continues convincing contracted servants. We continue colonial expansion in Northern Somalia, in the South and in the Malindi and Mombassa area.  The population is slowly vaccinated. Colonisation steadily increase as medicine and weaponry becomes more widespread. Several libraries are built in Swahili.  Technological advances speed up as a result of the cultural and technological exchanges in the embassies.  We send several scholars and agricultural experts, as well as merchants to help construct an university in Gonder. With the caliphate destroyed, the clergy resumes on its plan to print Swahili language Qurans. With the free academic atmosphere in Swahili, many philosophers, artists and scholars indulge themselves in their work without fear of governmental intervention.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: Qamar is further developed.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
  • Kingdoms of Burgundy and Prussia: New Germany expands 50 px north along the OTL Alabama River. Maryland expands 50 px north. A Dutch ship lands at OTL Kimbe, on the island of New Burgundy (OTL New Britain), and decide to call the area New Utrecht. Due to the distance from Singapore, no colony is established. The Laurentian colony of Patagonië expands 50 px north, along the coast. An envoy is sent to Giapan, offering to help it with its military modernization (mod response, please).
  • Russia: The tsar tastes cake for the first time, and begins a sugar craze. Other nobles and higher ups also see the possibility of colonization of Indonesia. The commandant of the Eastern Trade fleet sends five ships with 200 men armed with guns food, and water melted from Siberian snow into many barrels. They launch from Port Sibir and create a tiny remote outpost on Papua called Novyy Ural'sk (Sorong, Indonesia). Tuvov is expanded 5 px into Arcadia.
  • That is the thinnest excuse I've ever seen. -Feud
    • 'I' intend for this to be a sort of El Dorado for chocolate, since there is little in the west, and the tsar's sugar high, the colony will pack up and leave for Arcadia. And no, I don't intend to colonize Indonesia.
  • Anarchic Society of the Kongo: 100,000 deaths are reported from the anarchy by the end of the year, with the population seeing a sharp increase back to its normal levels throughout the year after citizens of the Islamic Kingdom arrive back, with 500,000 citizens remaining alive.
    • Islamic Kingdom of Anziku: Citizens of the Kingdom begin to "hop" across the border back to the Kongo due to the large amount of untouched farms in the outer regions. A few citizens that had crossed from Kongo begin to cause anarchy inside the the largest city of Uyokka, which causes general chaos to engulf the entire nation as citizens join in the burning of buildings.
  • Jin dynasty: There is growing discontent against Empress dowager Lee Young-sam, with many scholar-officials and aristocrats citing a suspicious rise in government corruption, amidst her attempts to quell dissent through literary inquisition and a crackdown on land-tax evasion. With the removal of pseudo-absolutist policies, court politics becomes increasingly factionalized. Orthodox Confucianism continues to be patronized, with the Sixteen Maxims being enforced. A crackdown on foot binding continues, with those with bound feet being encouraged to unbind them. Physicians are sent throughout all villages and towns, instructing of proper methods of bound foot-reversal, and implications of bound feet. The compilation of the Siku Quanshu continues; with editors (who are promised official posts after they had transcribed a given number of words within a set time) collected and annotated over ten thousand manuscripts from the imperial collections and other libraries. Commerce continues to be promoted, facilitating it by building canals and paving roads. Restrictions barring merchants from participating in imperial examination and garnering political influence. The government continues the state-directed augmentation of industrial complexes and shipyards devoted to producing armoury, weaponry, and other military items to complement the states' militaristic foreign policy. The port of Nangang continues to be settled with a hundred colonists, mainly from Fujian and Guangdong. Due to perceived Russian militarization, the ports of Port Sibir, North Shore, and Gorod-Vostok are blockaded with fifteen warships each (mainly of the geobukseon and panokseon-class).
    • RTK leader Lavr Giorgiyovich offers a deal. Russia would promise that any militarization would be for fighting savages in Arcadia (Giorgiyovich was getting the idea of Chinese style tribute in Novorossiya), Russia would also promise no warships would sail off the coast of Chinese water. The RTK and not Russia would pay (yuck) tribute in the terms for furs. In return China would not interfere with Russian north Pacific Operations, and allow Russian traders to buy and sell wherever they pleased across China's chosen trade ports, and China's tributaries.
    • China agrees.
  • Ethiopian Empire: Emperor Theodore II reforms the structure of the government once more. As the Princes' lands have been fully assumed to the power of the Emperor, Theodore gains the full status as an absolute monarch over the Empire across East Africa. The administration of Ethiopia is returned to the way it was prior to the Arab-Ethiopian War, giving governors or "Ras" over Tigray, Axum, and Adulis. In the north, the Kingdom of Egypt begins to be fully annexed as a fourth province in the Empire. The Amharic language is standardized again, this time by modern linguistic experts, to put it on the same level of improvement to that of MSA. To that end, Amharic is made the official language of the nation, with Ge'ez still used for church liturgy in some areas. In order to support the Treaty of Cairo, Ethiopia sends much financial support to Arabia. Meanwhile, Pope Matthew prepares for the Council of Alexandria soon. This he plans to be an ecumenical council of the universal church, including both bishops of Africa under the Seat of the Apostle Mark and bishops of Europe following the Seat of the Apostle Peter, including the Roman Pope. Matthew himself will preside over the council, as is the right of the Pope of Alexandria since ancient times. The purpose of this council is to decide the acceptance of Rome's declaration of faith, and discuss how this affects the union of the churches.
  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded and ports are constructed. The construction of the war fleet continues. The renovation of Kaluahine is complete, including the construction of a European-style dock to facilitate the Boudeuse and any other larger ship that should arrive on the islands. The forts outside the capital and Honolulu are also completed, and are equipped with cannons and stockpiles of supplies. The king's European advisers, noting the advantages of Honolulu's natural harbor, recommends the king have the city expanded as well, and construction of another dock begins. Hawaii's riflemen continue to be drilled and trained, primarily by René de Froulay and other advisers. Gaspard Ribault finishes a book on the Hawaiian language, including the creation of a written alphabet using the Latin script. The king begins receiving tutoring in European/world history and geopolitics, which personally fascinates him. Expansion in the southern islands and the rest of Polynesia continues, with the Hawaiians using the technology they recently acquired to further their influence in the south. In particular, on neighboring Bora Bora, following the Boudeuse incident, Kamanawa finds himself in a position of great influence over the island. He offers military support to a local chief named Puni, who has ambitions of uniting the island under his rule, and in exchange essentially becomes a Hawaiian puppet. An alliance is cemented with the marriages of Puni to a relative of Kamanawa, and Kamanawa to Puni's sister.
  • Malaya: Makanist practitioners of Anguzi magic are not recognized as true Makanist by the Malayan branch of the Universal House of Justice, and are excommunicated for increasingly violent "healing" methods that involve mutilation and laceration of limbs. After extensive analysis, scholars conclude the most effect Anguzi magic has is just "of the mind". The healing methods also do not correlate with the "wellness system" that had already been mapped out years ago. Agricultural activities continue in Sabah. The expansion effort has finally reached the east coast of Borneo, effectively claiming the entirety of North Borneo under Malayan administration. Local tribes, although a minority, are left largely undisturbed. Development is expected to extend within the rainforest within the next few decades. The Princes have graduated from the University of Malaya, carrying a Degree of Achievement in Law and Biology respectively. The Royal Guard and Royal Cavalry are revamped with newer arms and equipment.
  • Belkan Empire: The tsar continues investing into the education of both his sons intending for them to both rule or be part of the government in some capacity. Tsar Peter specifically wants to delineate second sons or second members of the empire as grand administrators and have them help the tsar keep control. While the empire is generally stable the more freedom and rights based movement out of Croatia begins to gather momentum as enlightenment thought right from nearby Italy spreads into Belka. Some forms of Federalism and Republicanism are seen and the province begins to be slowly but surely affected by this. The Economy remains in a stable state and thanks to the acceptance of Ethiopia the trade routes remain open and profitable. Specifically with the gold trade which various cultural effects and high grade trade goods are purchased or traded out specifically with gold which comes in spades out of Ethiopia. This allows the various gold and silver mines throughout the empire to start slacking once again as they do not have to provice so much bullion for the empire. The Navy continues to undergo its streamlining production process and 20 more ships are replaced this year leaving about half the fleet having been replaced or upgraded. The Army remains prominent in keeping training and discipline in totality, however, some forced placements of noble sons into the officer corps dilutes the talent as they are given the more prestigious positions right under the tsar's nose. The population continues to grow.
A new sewer system is constructed in Bristol. The fleet is divided with 150 ships stationed in Portsmouth and 150 ships stationed in Bristol. Trade with colonies in a triangular trade going through Africa, America and Europe is profitable. Robert Walpole continues to hold power over Parliament and the young King William. Moll Flanders is published. The Brown Bess Musket enters service into the British army with a plan for all soldiers to have it by the end of the decade.
In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the south into OTL Florida with new arriving colonists from England.

    • Fore: The Fore, who the Namton A'fao has forbidden eating their deceased slowly notice less Kuru issue as they accept the mummification of their ancestors, imitating the Hamtai tribe of the Ququququ union.
  • Comancheria: Chief Ulaantana of the Greater Commanche State has decided to halt expansion for now after the defeat by the Navajo tribes. He has begun to develop the various settlements of Comancheria into towns and, in a few years, maybe cities. He adopts agriculture from his colonial neighbors in order to speed up food production. He also begins forming a state religion by unifying the different beliefs of the tribal shamans in the area.

One hour for 1722 SkyGreen24 22:20, July 5th 2017 (UTC)

The disease in the Guuti state miraculously vanishes at the voice of King Guuti, causing some local shamans to proclaim him the son of Agloolik. Meanwhile, a group of cannibalist Inuits to the south attack Guuti to take advantage of their weakness, led by the acclaimed sorceror Adlartok.

The Thuggee cult grows in more power across Maharasthra, and begin worshiping Kali alone as their god to sacrifice to, leading to kidnappings from both British India and South India.

The Enlightenment philosophy in northern Italy and Switzerland begins applying the scientific method to history and philosophy, criticizing traditional medieval views of history to see more of a power struggle between kings and peasants.

A "Counter-Enlightenment" begins to emerge in northern German states, but its exact ideals are not solidifeid at this time.

The Pope, whose proposal has been accepted by the Nestorians, is under scrutiny once more. Although "proof" has been delivered about the virginity of Cornaro, rumours spread that their relationships became more physical as they both succumbed to the pressure of the allegations. Whatever the truth might be, cardinals and other respected members of the Catholic Church use this as a claim that education and art should return under the wing of the clergy, in order to ensure its purity and righteousness.

  • Anarchic Society of the Kongo | Anarchic Society of the Kongo and Anziku | Kingdom of the Kongo: Dhaakir, Leader of the Holy Islamic Kingdom of Anziku, was found murdered next to the wall between the Kongo and Anziku. The death brings about a final year of chaos within the Kongo and Anziku regions, with the final estimated death count being near 400,000 by the end of the general purge. The remaining population of the nation, 300,000 in total, begins to clean up the damage caused from the era of hysteria. Of course, crimes and murders continue to occur, but at a slower and relatively smaller rate. Rajaa el-Kaba, the last remaining noble in all of the Kongo, begins to lead the nation once more. Much like with Dhaakir, the remaining citizens follow his direction and proclaim him a higher being and a figure that was "chosen by God to lead us". The wall between the Kongo and Anziku is finally removed, and a set of laws is set in place, ending the once Anarchic nation. With the end of the once chaotic region and the return to peacefulness and prosperity that once existed prior to Sultan Jalaal ruling the land, people celebrate throughout the end of the year, and proclaim the date 12/07/1723 as the date in which they were officially free of the destruction and chaos that once plagued them for numerous decades.
  • Comancheria: The Comanche Riders begin training in using guns that they stole from the Europeans. One rider, Nanusta, becomes a master sharpshooter and begins teaching other riders how to shoot. Chief Ulaantana begins federalizing his power, entrusting some of it into subchieftains to greater represent the tribes of Comancheria. Ula, the head shaman of Ulaantana's new state religion, makes trips to all areas of the empire in an attempt to combine the various animist religions into the new state one.  Ula writes a book in Iberian about the new religion and the exploits of the Comanches and begins spreading it in the natives in Spanish Arcadia to gain simpathizers and to romanticize the Comanches. In the capital city, a police force is instituted to keep order. Scholars begin adopting a modified version of the Roman script to use in their books.
    • Just an FYI the Comanche should have one major city "their capital" thats in the low ten thousands. -Feud
    • How does this Comanche shaman know Maya, Spanish (Portuguese I hope), French, and English, and have the capability to spread these books to the European colonies in Arcadia? And how can the Comanche independently adopt the Mayan script, a language that uses elaborate hieroglyphs (this should make it incompatible with the Comanche language) and has little influence in the Great Plains? -General
      • All good points. She is a very well travelled shaman. I'll remove a couple languages.
  • 'Guuti Empire': As Adlartok and his band of pagan marauders reached the settlement of Yellowknife, a statue of Guuti fell on them(it may or may not have been pushed down by Guuti soldiers under the order of Nunas) and killed them. This is shown as a sign of Guuti's might and many join devotees of Guuti. Guuti dies towards the end of the year. Nunas and her shamans put a spin on this to say that Guuti gave his life to heal the empire. A vast mourning ceremony is held in which many people attend. The lakes begin to thaw, correlating with the idea that Guuti gave his life for his people. The royal family of the empire is showered with gifts and tributes from various areas of the empire as a way of "repaying" Guuti for giving his life to save them. Nunas also unveils a cave painting "painted by the gods" which describes Guuti's exploits when he was young. They involve him slaying the beast of winter, saving the sun, and being the son of Agloolik, the local god.
  • Ethiopian Empire: After solidifying his rule and completing his reforms to the government, Emperor Theodore begins a tour of the Empire from across Ethiopia and up through Egypt and Libya. Every city in east Africa participates in the annual Coptic festivals and diversity fairs that once gave them such joy before the Muslim conquest. Everywhere he goes, the Emperor is hailed as the one lord and savior of the lands, given the utmost respect by all. The Amharic language is fully standardized, and is now taught as the official language in schools across Egypt and East Africa. Theodore uses these various forces, along with his universal programs for irigations and canals, to centralize the culture of Ethiopia into a single national identity, irregardless of the Tigray, Amharic, Coptic, and Arab peoples living in the region. Pope Matthew continues to prepare for the upcoming Ecumenical Council, overviewing the united declaration of faith for solving the Chalcedonian heresy.
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Pope sends some advisors to assist with the preparations for the 1725 Ecumenical Council, and His Holiness sends a letter thanking Matthew for his offer to preside at it and approving of the decision [OOC: just a historical note though, no Coptic Pope ever presided at any OTL ecumenical council]. Pope Urban also kindly and humbly requests that the Copts stop referring to Chalcedon as a 'heresy', as it is clear from our joint acceptance of the declaration that the differences that emerged from Chalcedon (Chalcedonian Christianity vs Coptic Miaphysitism) are due more to misunderstandings and prejudices of the time, rather than true doctrinal disagreement. Thus the Pope will not refer to true Coptic Miaphysitism as heretical, and the Copts should not refer to true Chalcedonianism as heretical, since the joint acceptance of the declaration shows their compatibility when understood properly.
  • Jin dynasty: A crackdown on foot binding continues, with those with bound feet being encouraged to unbind them. Empress Dowager Lee Young-sam contracts a seemingly-terminal illness, and reluctantly instates her son Kim Geun as the heir apparent, who will ascend to the throne should she perish.
  • Papal States: The Pope is intensely pleased that the Nestorians have accepted the Catholic offer of union. He appoints the Nestorian Patriarch to the honour of the Cardinalate, and by making an amendment to Canon Law, permits a representative of his to act in his stead in a conclave. The Pope also revives the ancient practice of sending a consecrated Host -consecrated by himself in the Mass of thanksgiving for the news- as a symbol of their communion. In other, less happy news, the Pope is distressed by the continued vicious rumours circulating about himself and Professor Cornaro. The latter, after making a public statement as to her innocence of the charges, steps down from her professorship at Bologna, and retreats to an Adelphinian priory in the extreme North of the country. The Pope, and indeed the Prefect of the Inquisition, both write publically how outrageous it is that people are so distressed at the thought of a woman of intellect gaining some position that they must resort to calumnies and deception to bring her down. The Pope is confused by those who say that education should remain under the clergy, since a) the Church runs most universities and schools anyway, and 2) there have always been lay professors and university students, otherwise there would never be enough physicians or lawyers or natural scientists. Missions continue everywhere.
    • Belkan Dip: Ecumenical Patriarch Constantos Stoev requests entry into the Ecumenical Council of 1725 in an effort to solve issues brought on by the Orthodox and Catholics.
    • Papal Dip: Reiterating the Council of Cologne's offer for the Orthodox to re-enter communion through reunification, the Pope is more than happy to grant the Orthodox request.
An university is constructed in Gonder at the request of Ethiopia. Thousands of copies of Swahili language Qurans are published as common people and priests are now able to read and interpret the Quran.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: Qamar is further developed.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
  • Belkan Empire: The army continues to see sprinklings of corruption as nobles continue to weasel their way into the officer corps. While some of them are adept others are generally mediocre or inept as military officers. This causes some resentment from the military men which worked their way through the ranks legitimately and were not given their posts. While this is the case the Army still remains relatively functional. The Economy remains a powerful driving force and the increased settlement and and development in Moldavia, Croatia, and Transylvania has seen the resources of the region become more exploitable as well as profitable. The tsar personally increases funding for the road systems specifically hoping to fix the highway systems which remain destroyed or in disrepair from the Succession war decades prior. This begins to more connect the northern frontier cities specifically the city of Visegrad in Transylvania now becoming the center of the Province. The trade through Ethiopia and the Middle East remains in high demand and as it flows through Belkan goods make a killing through this trade. The tsar does begins to invest heavily into the higher education hoping to push the envelope of development and intelligence in the empire.
  • Kingdom of Saxony: With the increased amount of spending on the Saxon military the Saxon king looks to find new ways to bring in increased income to pay for the new army and to pay for continued infrastructural development. Thus mass increases of funding to wool, dye, and cloth production facilities allows for the increase of these facilities size and number of employees along with upgrades in equipment. Thus monopolizing the clothes production and bring in huge amounts of wealth to the Saxon King. He thus reinvests a portion of this money into increasing the Kingdom's infrastructure building new roads and canals across the nation branching out from Leipzig and Dresden allowing for the flow of goods all around their territory from Saxony proper in the East all the way to Nassau in the West. Meanwhile, the recently expanded and re-equipped Saxon army of 25,000 now marches into Poland to test their new equipment and along with the Russian (Bandit) Expedition of 10,000 lay siege to the city of Krakow and its Garrison of 2500.
  • Ququququ:The Tingu Namton A'fao continues to protect the Sambia from their women while teaching select few from the Sambia, both male and female, the norms of the Angu and Zia. Trading with the Bilibil expands as the Bilibil start reaching further. The Dajin continue teaching the Ququququ their tongue as well as a peculiar thing named Hangul, which catches the attention of the Council. The Ququququ as a whole are slowly becoming more literate with the introduction of Hangul, however all tribes adjust it to their own languages and dialects, which causes confusion amongst the Union members.
    • Sambia: The Sambia tribes are slowly becoming more and more integrated into Angu-Zia customs and culture and are slowly accepting the Hangul script.
    • Fore: The Fore, who the Namton A'fao has forbidden eating their deceased slowly notice less Kuru issue as they accept the mummification of their ancestors, imitating the Hamtai tribe of the Ququququ union.

New turn, one hour for 1723 SkyGreen24 22:30, July 6th, 2017 (UTC)

An Italian merchant named Marco Tomaso becomes the Dread Pirate Roberts, operating mainly in the South China Sea

Militant Republicans influenced by the elder Russian civil war veteran Zhukov move to Sibenik in Croatia and into the Rhineland

The leader of the Italian league dies and the election is inconclusive leading to the league instead electing a Congress which stands as a coalition government in Italy. This becomes a general hub of Enlightenment philosophy, as more writers there begin applying the scientific method to economic and social concepts, emphasizing efficiency in society.

The "Counter Enlightenment", also known as Neo-Scholasticism, takes more root in northern and central Germany. Based in the philosophies of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Scholastics see organized religion as fundemental to the growth of science and society. This becomes more popular among the clergy and military, while sharply criticizing modern art and republicanism, using the vast deaths in Russia as an example of the danger of liberalism.

The Rowzi gets much more rowdy, expanding south.

The Polish Army deploys to Krakow surrounding the Saxon force with their superior force of 60,000. They demand the army leaves or it will be summarily destroyed.

  • 'Guuti Empire': Nunas begins rebuilding the settlement of Yellowknife as the fishing industries come back. Nunas' powerful Cult of Guuti grows and its practices become more distinct from local shaman cults. The cult continues slowly replacing Dene oral history with history that features Guuti prominently and replaces various local spirits with Guuti in stories. The Cult constructs several boats to continue raiding towns along the coast of Great Slave Lake in order to collect revenue. A local witch doctor has brewed a special potion called "Guuti's Blood" that will make warriors more effective in battle. In reality it includes a batch of powerful stimulants, hallucinogens, and a natural equivalent of PCP. One shaman who gets really intoxicated off of Guuti's Blood sputters advice from Guuti from "beyond the grave" that they must use seeds from trees to plant and cultivate their own crops to get more food. A few people believe this and begin putting this technique into practice.
  • Comancheria: Chief Ulaantana begins with the cultural assimilation of nearby tribes, instituting Comanche written in a modified Roman script as a mandatory language. The sharpshooter corps grows as more and more Comanches are taught how to use guns effectively. They are deployed onto tribes east of Comancheria and are very successful. Comancheria expands 10 px to the east. Comanches near the Iberian border get small pox and other diseases that they are not accustomed to. Various witchdoctors and shamans begin studying the disease to come up with a cure or preventative potion. They are expected to be finished by 1730.
  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Recovery continues from the Second Arab-Ethiopian War, with projects ordered by Sultan Umar ibn Al-Jaffar taking place all over the state. The projects focus on relief, and to improve living throughout the more rural areas of the nation, as well as the areas damaged from the war. After the dust has settled followed the war, the population is now found to be 43 million, which as expected, continues to rise. Although on the different sides of the war, we send out diplomats to secure possible trade agreements and ten year non-aggression pacts with the Shahdom of Iran and the Ethiopian Empire, in hopes to putting past the Second Arab-Ethiopian War and moving on as allies (Mod). The economy continues to boost the more we extract natural resources. The millet system continues to prove its worth as stabilization and peace has swept across the Sultanate.
    • Iran agrees. -Natemod
  • France: In the year of our Lord 1724, France continues to experience internal prosperity. Francis I continues to expand his palace, installing a human zoo this year. The human zoo has American tribes, Asians, and African tribes. Overseas, the French East India company continues to experience prosperity with African slaves from French Zaire and the ports of Namibe, Luanda, and Lobito providing the large output of slave traffic. The or noir mines (OTL Minas Gerras) continues to expand providing an extremely large gold output. Or Noir becomes the largest city in the new world this year. In the East Indies the prominence of the monopoly on the spice trade continues to provide large economic output for the crown and the east India company. Fort Queer continues to expand. The Cardinal Borja, Bishop of Bordeaux becomes a major advocate for the counter enlightment. We request to buy Cambdina from Ziare (Mod Respose).
  • Russia: Seeing an opportunity, Tsar Peter decides to launch an invasion of Poland with 130,000 men, mainly veterans still looking for work, quickly overrunning large ports of Eastern Poland. Tsar Peter's demands are made: return Lithuania or face destruction to superior Russian experience and weaponry. (Mod Response). In the uncharted island the crew begins searching for a tasty sweet and begin to search through the jungle. The men fall by desise and hostile animals and tribesmen. Tuvov expands 5 px.

The compilation of the Siku Quanshu is finally completed, with six thousand manuscripts from imperial collections and libraries being collected. A crackdown on foot binding continues, with those with bound feet being encouraged to unbind them. Physicians are sent throughout all villages and towns, instructing of proper methods of bound foot-reversal, and implications of bound feet. Upon acquiring his position, he repeals his mother's crackdown on heterodox beliefs, and begins promoting the silhak movement, which advocates for a more rationalistic and humanistic form of Confucianism. He appoints various proponents of the movement into high positions in the government, and pursues a policy of equal treatment to reduce court factionalization. The period of literary inquisition ends, with the Emperor sending monetary compensation to purged authors and their families. Meanwhile, he begins instituting various reforms, encouraging gifted commoners to participate in civil service whilst vastly-reducing military tax to lift the financial burden on the commoner class (but mitigating the loss by taxing businesses and firms, which are burgeoning due to commercialization and lack of restrictions against their growth). However, he maintains a policy of militarization, constructing shipyards, arsenals, and industrial facilities dedicated to producing armaments. A labour dividend becomes increasingly pronounced, resulting from a heightened demand for commercial goods (mainly cash crops and luxury-items), from both the domestic and foreign market, coupled with freed labour following advances in agriculture. A hundred colonists are sent to the port of Nangang for settlement, which is designated as the capital of the Haegajang colonies. A smaller trading post named Nanxi is established in the island of New Britain. A shipyard and a municipal hall is constructed, establishing a permanent presence in Nangang and consolidating its territorial legitimacy.
Smaller mosques gain in popularity.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: After extensive cultural and economic integration, we begin efforts to politically integrate Qamar.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
    • Swahili Dip: We wish to establish formal diplomatic relations with Ethiopia and construct an embassy in Gonder and Alexandria.
Renovations continue in Honolulu, as well as other major cities. Hawaii's riflemen continue to be drilled and trained, primarily by René de Froulay and other advisers. Gaspard Ribault tutors the king and a few other nobles in writing, and the king orders the training of scribes to record Hawaiian history and legends. The king also continues receiving tutoring in European/world history and geopolitics, which personally fascinates him. Expansion in the southern islands and the rest of Polynesia continues, with the Hawaiians using the technology they recently acquired to further their influence in the south. The alliance of Kamanawa and Puni of Bora Bora comes to dominate the island, and with Hawaiian assistance, Puni successfully unites the island's two rival clans. He declares himself King of Bora Bora.
  • Saxony: The Saxon army surrenders in full and pays ten pounds of gold and 20 pounds of silver to the Poles as payment for any damages caused during the Saxon crusade into Poland.
    • Fore: The Fore, who the Namton A'fao has forbidden eating their deceased, slowly notice less Kuru issue as they accept the mummification of their ancestors, imitating the Hamtai tribe of the Ququququ union.
A new sewer system is constructed in Bristol. Robert Walpole continues to hold power over Parliament and the young King William. Moll Flanders is published. The Brown Bess Musket enters service into the British army with a plan for all soldiers to have it by the end of the decade. The first grenadiers idea is proposed to the army and Captain Micheal Fallon is tasked to investigate and set up a trial company for the 1st Regiment of the Foot guards.
In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the west crossing into OTL Alabama as settlements develop on both sides of the river.
  • Papal States: Neo-scholasticism gains a significant following in the clergy and academia of the Papal States, and the Immaculata Order also, surprisingly, becomes quite attached to it, and begin exporting it to teir various schools and colleges around the world. They like its combination of traditional theological values with respect for the scientific method when it comes to the natural sciences. Preparations continue for the Ecumenical Council next year, with Pope Urban VII appointing his special Legate to act as his personal representative and grant the Coucil legitimacy. Travel plans are made for a very large number of bishops, religious superiors, and theologians from Italy and indeed from all of Europe. The Latin and Northern Patriarchs will be attending the Council personally. Missions continue everywhere.

1725

Another day another complaint. One hour for 1724 SkyGreen24 22:07, July 7th, 2017 (UTC)

Neoscholasticism begins spreading the message of Philosophia ancilla theologiae est  (Philosophy is the servant of theology) once more across Europe as it slowly solidifies its foothold in Northern Germany. Also starts appearing in Scandinavia and the Lowlands.

The Ecumenical Council of Alexandria is opened in Alexandria. Large numbers of bishops, abbots, abbesses, and theologians converge on the city.

Enlightenment philosophy spreads into the Alsace, where French alchemists continue to work on compounding the Philosopher's Stone.

African states generally don't fancy selling land to France at this time.

Marco Tomas leads his pirates to loot ships trading between China and Europe.

The Polish Tsar escorts the Saxon troops to the Border with Prussia where a small Prussian force receives the Saxon troops escorting the Saxon withdrawal.  The Polish forces move to counter Russia with their full military force for the fate of Lithuania

  • Comancheria: The main "city" in Comancheria is currently implementing Iberian Agricutlure. Comanche Sharpshooters raid the northern areas of the Iberian Colony and requisition guns, food and maps. A few Comanches become immune to European diseases and samples of their blood are studied by Comanche witchdoctors to try to come up with a vaccine/cure to smallpox. Chief Ulaantana institutes a form of democracy in his city to deal with growing, more educated populations. Comanches also raid a church in the Iberian Colony and steal a bible. One, who knows bits of Spanish, begins reading it and converts to Christianity. He starts his own small sect of Christians in Comancheria.
  • Just no. This is going too far too quick. Also your first strike. SkyGreen24 15:33, July 8th, 2017 (UTC)
  • 'Guuti': Agriculture becomes slightly more popular in Yellowknife after those who adopted it last year did better. Nunas siezes the farms as property of the devotees of Guuti. The Devotees of Guuti takes control of more and more of the tribal workings.  Guutist missonaries go near the Great Bear Lake and convert the local peoples to Guutism. Guutism becomes more pronounced and absorbed local Dene Mythology. Guuti is inserted into various myths and replaces various mythical heroes.
  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Modernization of military and naval technology continues. Recovery projects from the last year that were ordered by Sultan Umar ibn Al-Jaffar continue, and the full restoration of the state is expected in 1727. Any remaining ships within the Mediterranean which are still stationed there during the Second Arab-Ethiopian War are finally ordered home. The military is finally re-organized and re-established after a draft is ordered, with 550,000 able-bodied men beginning to undergo training for the position of Soldier, Military Police or Royal Guard, with only the top 2000 soldiers during training being allowed to choose the position of Royal Guard. Patriotism inside the Sultanate begins to increase as propagandized literature is written explaining how one day, the Sultanate of Arabia will become the most powerful nation in the world and will re-unite the middle east under its central control to properly ensure its survival in the modern era and beyond. We begin to look towards our European and Asian neighbors to possibly establish relations. We begin promoting the image of the Jaffarid Clan in Azerbaijan, Shirvan, Circassia, Akhlat, and Ganja in hopes of vassalizing the nations in the future.
  • Ethiopian Empire: All the reforms of Emperor Theodore continues, taking direct control of the nation as absolute monarch. The agricultural projects continue to irrigate Ethiopia and Nubia. The linguistic reforms spreads Amharic as the universal language. Cultural projects such as local fairs and holidays strengthen the national identity. The military is expanded in order to protect the nation. Baroque art of the Arab style are adapted to construct new buildings and monuments. The history of Ethiopia continues to be written. Pope Matthew presides over the Council of Alexandria with the combined bishops of the Catholic and Coptic Churches, and observors of the Orthodox church. The Pope is hopeful to create a common faith with the Catholics based on the previous works towards a declaration of christology.
  • Jin dynasty: Due to its symbol as the motherland of the Korean people, Liaoning east of the Liao river, encompassing the Liaodong peninsula, is separated and administered as part of the Korea province. The silhak movement (which advocates for humanism and rationalism) gains momentum, aided by the end of political repression of heterodox sects and political stability. Amidst his efforts to reduce court factionalization, newly-crowned Emperor Kim Geun (known as the Qianlong Emperor) begins implementing three major reforms. He begins promoting the printing industry, transitioning from the usage of moveable types to printing presses, with relaxed censorship laws (due to the end of literary inquisition), causes a renaissance in publications. Accompanied by this is the promotion of literacy, with an edict being decreed requiring all households to have at least one literate member (typically the eldest son). Hangul continues to be used as the ruby script, to facilitate the learning of the more complicated Hanzi script. The printing of newspapers is revived, while key Confucianist texts such as the Four Books and the Five Classics are freely-distributed. He also begins to launch a campaign to promote agriculture, manufacturing pluviometres and water gauges to aid productivity, and encouraging the further adoption of New World crop varieties (mainly sweet potatoes and maize) in places where wheat or wet-rice cultivation is not feasible. After viewing the state of traditional villages, the Emperor launches the modernization of architecture, with houses required to be built with stone bricks (in-place of wood) and clay tiles (in-place of thatch roofing). He also constructs bathhouses, spas, and latrines, teaching basic hygiene and sanitation. He maintains a policy of militarization, constructing shipyards, arsenals, and industrial facilities dedicated to producing armaments. A labour dividend becomes increasingly pronounced, resulting from a heightened demand for commercial goods (mainly cash crops and luxury-items), from both the domestic and foreign market, coupled with freed labour following advances in agriculture. More settlers are sent to southern colonies, with presence in Nangang (encompassing port of Jayapura) and Nanxi (based in New Britain) being expanded to bolster territorial legitimacy.
    • Sakha: The Khan begins adopting Korean and Chinese architecture, paving paths, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively. He also standardizes Sakhan orthography (using Hangul as the script).
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Papal Nuncio to the Great Jin gives the newly-crowned Emperor precious gifts and hopes that His Imperial and Most August Majesty will continue his forebears' role in protecting the Church in China and Korea.
    • Sino–Korean diplomacy: The Emperor bans Catholicism and declares it an evil practice :^^^) welcomes the gifts, upholding his predecessors' pledge to protect Christian missionaries and converts residing and operating within the borders of China and Korea.
  • Papal States: The Catholic delegation arrives in Alexandria for the ecumenical council. Pope Urban VII is somewhat bored in Rome, however receives near-constant updates on the happenings, both from his official legate, and from his various other brother-bishops and acquaintances. He uses his time to promote Neo-scholasticism. Missions continue.
  • Ququququ: The Tribal Union's raiders are, as previously stated, known in the wider area. However, the contact with the Kaluli tribe gives the Council an idea to contact them in order to strike a deal of protections in exchange for spreading the gardens of the Kaluli through the Ququququ lands. However, after coming into contact with some Kaluli members, Namton A'fao learns about the Kaluli creation myth. The Council decides to come forward to the Kaluli presenting Namton A'fao Koito as Nafa Alan Kalu (meaning Good Big Man) and offer them protection, similary to during the time hena madaliaki when everything alə bano ane. (Vassalization request)
    • Sambia: The Sambia continue becoming more incoroporated into Ququququ culture and Bilibil trade.
    • Fore: As the Fore begin recovering their numbers they are more and more grateful to the Ququququ for leading them from the path of death and incorporate Ququququ aspects into their daily life while joining in on the Bilibil trade.
    • Kaluli agrees -Nate
  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded and ports are constructed. The construction of the war fleet continues. Pierre Baret, known in Hawaiian as ʻOlohana, permanently moves to Lahaina on Maui to personally oversee renovations and modernization on the island, after having been appointed Kiaʻaina (royal governor) in 1722. Settlement in the southern islands continues, especially in Pukapuka and the surrounding islands, where traders stop en route to the Tu'i Tonga Empire. Settlers and traders continue to head west, following the route taken by Véron and other foreigners, leading to Majuro being more heavily visited, as well as other islands in the OTL Marshall Islands. Contact is established with Pohnpei, leading to increased trade further west of Hema Pae 'Aina. Hawaii's riflemen continue to be drilled and trained, primarily by René de Froulay and other advisers. Gaspard Ribault's tutoring of the king and a few other nobles in writing continues, as does the training of scribes to record Hawaiian history and legends. The king also continues receiving tutoring in European/world history and geopolitics. Expansion in the southern islands and the rest of Polynesia continues, with the Hawaiians using the technology they recently acquired to further their influence in the south.

Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies and adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. Popular imams and preachers start religious revival movements.

  • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
  • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
  • Swahili Diplomacy to Ethiopia: We wish to establish formal diplomatic relations with Ethiopia and construct an embassy in Gonder and Alexandria.
  • Belkan Empire: The Czar properly watches the brewing war between Russia and Poland and the Vlach Garrisons are put on high alert migrating the nearly 15,000 man force to the border forts and readying the rest of the army to respond if the conflict escalates out of control. The empire ethnically becomes more centralized as the Belkan culture stands as the unified south slavic culture over the region. While some small numbers of Greeks, Muslim Turkish slaves, as well as some small numbers of albanians and the hungarians which remain in transylvania remain minorities their influence on the empire proper has become negligible. However this year around the Bulgarian Tobacco plantations the Turkish slaves revolt, However, being near the largest concentration of Belkan military force, the slaves are rounded back up and the ring leaders executed. However, this showcases some of the innate problems with slavery and the plantations operating under such are considered broken assets by the Czar and his Duma which begin to seriously consider liquidation of the slave plantations and integrating the Turks into Belkan society. The Czar begins very openly considering abdication in favor of his son Vladimir who at this point has also had children of his own. Ferdinand and Boris. The gross excesses of the Absolute monarchs lifestyle begins to chafe against the upper echelons of nobility and the extreme lower classes. The Belkan army continues to resent the various appointees to officer posts and very quiet discontent begins to reign in the army. However the removal of several prominent generals and field marshalls prevents open issues from erupting.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: Gujarat and Sindh continue as vassals of Britain while the London Civil Service schools puts our more educated men who go onto serve in India speaking the local dialects. In the Indian army at regimental level they speak the local dialect including the British officers while above regimental level they speak English. There are both Muslim and British officers throughout the army ranks. Emissaries are sent to neighbouring Indian states to enhance trade and alliances while small groups of soldiers are sent from the army of Islamic India not in formal uniform are sent to clash with the Thuggee cult. Robert Walpole continues to hold power over Parliament while King William is almost of age. The Brown Bess musket continues to be put into service and trained with while Colonel Boris Johnson is told to start the introduction of Grenadier Guards across the army.
    • British Arcadia: The colonies are given more governance with the creation of the East Avalon 1st Regiment in the British Army. The 7000 troops in Arcadia are spread out with 1000 in New York, 3000 in Henry's land, 1000 in New Gwynedd and the remaining 2000 are divided between the remaining areas. In addition local militia forces do exist but they aren't standing and are spread out although they are armed. In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the west crossing into OTL Alabama as settlements develop on both sides of the rive Stout. The colonies are at 2.1 million people.
  • Iberia: With the New World colonies now well-established and serious West African colonization outside the slave trade proving unprofitable, the imperialist João II looks east to expand his empire. A great expedition is sent to India, commanded by Jacó do Sequeira, in order to secure the coveted port of Goa. Jacó sails into Goa with a fleet of 23 ships and offers the ruler protection from his threatening neighbors (such as the Maratha states, Nagpur, and Karnad) if the Iberians are granted preferential trading rights in the city. (Mod Response) Jacó makes it clear that he won't be leaving until some sort of agreement is made, and implies that the situation will escalate if they refuse. Missionaries in Timor, active since 1675, establish a village in central Timor, using it to direct their efforts into the interior. Iberian merchants settle Dili in East Timor, opening trade with the prominent Mota Ain (Motael) kingdom and their tributaries, comprising a region known as Likusaen. Iberia claims Santa Apolónia (Réunion/Dina Morgabin), unaware of Omani settlements on the island. Following the death of Guálter de Sá, the Parnaíba "colony" in northern Brazil is abandoned and returned to France, although keeping a plurality of Iberian settlers. Maranhão begins a surge of expansion along the branches of the Amazon, eastward into the interior, and north into Arawak territory, which is claimed as part of the Aruaque colony. A fortified outpost called Fort Henrique is built on the Yazoo River near OTL Vicksburg. The Natchez, having merged with several smaller tribes, occupy the stretch of river north of the fort, making Fort Henrique the northernmost point of actual control. A regiment of infantry is transported to Nova Astúrias to guard Passagem do Norte from Comanche and Navajo raids.

NOTICE FOR TRIBAL PLAYERS: Technological advancing of your nation is supposed to be slow unless a developed country directly funds your process of advancing technologically. Also, a notice tho anyone trying to start using guns as a tribal nation. It's going to be limited and any tribal nation using guns will be incredibly dependent on a nation that can produce guns for a long time. SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 09:53, July 9th, 2017 (UTC)

  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded and ports are constructed. The construction of the war fleet continues. Véron briefly stops in Hawaii while on his third voyage of exploration in 1725, bringing with him another stockpile of French goods and weapons, as well as numerous French people. He departs north claiming to be charting the coastline of a nearby continent, known as Arcadia. The king gifts the explorer a great deal of supplies and navigators, hoping to see him on his return voyage, however, Véron never makes it to Hawaii island again. In early 1726 the king receives word that Véron stopped on Kauai after a storm damaged one of his ships. After a number of quarrels the locals allegedly stole one of the French longboats. Frustrated, Véron attempted to kidnap the King of Kauai, Kaumualii, and was killed in the process, along with a few French marines. Angered by the death of his ally and friend, the king prepares for war. Sensing that he is outnumbered and outgunned by the more technologically superior Hawaiians, Kaumualii surrenders to Kamehameha. The terms of the surrender dictate that Kaumualii will swear fealty to Kamehameha and become a Hawaiian vassal, however Kaumualii will be allowed to rule Kauai, essentially as a governor, under Kamehameha's rule. A feast is held on Kauai to formally end any hostilities, attended by several Hawaiian chiefs and nobles. Some of the local nobility, however, angered by the surrender of the kingdom, form a conspiracy to murder Kaumualii. The plot is discovered and stopped, but not before Pierre Baret ʻOlohana, Governor of Maui, is mistakenly killed. Baret's death shocks the king and causes him to distrust Kauai, but for now accepts the peaceful unification of Hawaii.
  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Modernization of military and naval technology continues. Recovery projects from the last year that were ordered by Sultan Umar ibn Al-Jaffar continue, and the full restoration of the state is expected to be finalized next year. The 550,000 able-bodied men that began training last year continue their training, and with the full re-organization of the military still underway, 15 divisions are to be ordered of the men whom will be placed within the Military prime, while five divisions will be selected for the Military police and one division being placed as the Royal Guard of the Sultan. With increasing patriotism occurring in the Traditionalists-based citizens and the increasing approval of the younger citizens in Arabia, a short literary boom occurs, with scriptures being written telling how Sultan Umar and the Jaffarid Clan will bring the Middle East back to its powerful roots of the caliphate is had been for the past millennium. We also continue to increase our influence in other Middle Eastern countries and promote pro-Jaffarid groups within other nations. Re-organization of the states inside the Near East are finished, with the most populated states being Babylonia, Assyrian Union and Jerusalem. We work on promoting the image of Arabia in the Shahdom of Iran, and propose a free trade with Iran, Azerbaijan, Shirvan, Circassia, Akhlat, and Ganja (Mod). The economy continues to boost as time passes.
    • All except Circassia accept trade. -Natemod
  • Kingdoms of Burgundy and Prussia: New Germany expands 50 px north along the OTL Alabama River, officially named "Knights River". Maryland expands 50 px north into the interior of OTL Florida. A fort is established at OTL Kimbe, New Britain, called Willemstad. Another fort is established nearby on the island of New Texel (OTL Kavieng, New Ireland), and a third at the site of OTL Madang, Papua New Guinea, called Schoutenbeurg after the expeditions leader. The group of islands is marked as the "Schouten Islands".
    • Ququququ Diplomacy: As the Ququququ notice another group of big ship men, dubbed Baina Ma Emo (Big Ship Men), a group of emissaries travel with pigs and sago to greet the newcomers.
      • Burgundian Dip: the emissaries are met and greeted by Burgundian East India Company representatives, who are under orders to treat them as foreign dignitaries.
  • Cologne: Archbishop Wulfrich, weary, welcomes the status quo peace with Scandinavia in 1719 and takes a minute of rest on his bed. This seems to have tired him out so much, however, that he never recovers and never leaves his bed after that fateful minute. In the following years, he gradually declines in health and Cologne is left generally in stasis, with some of Cologne’s administrative functions being carried out by Vicar-General Wikbold VI and other functions being carried out by Abbess Anniken. This results in a significant amount of internalisation and furthering of knowledge at Cologne’s Universities, and general diversion of funds away from war and into betterment of Kolsch and Essenian people. When the Enlightenment peaks and the Counter-Englightenment or Neoscholasticism arrives, the University of Cologne creates several councils to study the ideals of each. Given the Neoscholastic respect for both scientific ideals and matters of faith, the University of Cologne recommends Neoscholasticism for all German HRE states, purely to avoid the damaging behaviours at both extremes – Neoscholasticism, the Kolsch scholars explain, does not suffer from the perils of extreme liberalism. By the time of 1725, Archbishop Wulfrich has finally passed away and a new Archbishop is elected. His name is Ludwich van Florian and his first act as Archbishop is to travel to the Ecumenical Council in Alexandria. Although Abbess Anniken is too elderly to attend at such a distance, Archbishop Ludwich is accompanied by the Prioress Ilona representing the great Abbess.
    • Essen: Abbess Anniken has watched the successful graduation of many women Bachelors of Canon Law from the University of Bologna and supported it thoroughly since its inception, and is both thankful and very pleased with its results – not only with women in the Church but also with laywomen. In the process of writing her Papers on Women, she became an advocate for all women having the opportunity to receive an education. Given Professor Maria-Theresa Cornaro’s absolutely groundbreaking achievements, Abbess Anniken is horrified at the scandal that ensues (and personally somewhat distressed by the ordeal the good Professor must have gone through). She welcomes the Professor herself to the relevant Adelphinian priory and deliberately begins to encourage young canonesses and other young women showing mathematical talent to join the particular priority to learn from the best. The silver mines in Essen have done particularly well over the past 17 years, and Essenian people find themselves solidly propped up by their fortunes – not too little and not too much, but just living the pious, simple and bare life they have always been, and effectively using the revenue to fund the charitable activities of Adelphinian Canonesses worldwide. Meanwhile in Burgunian and Hospitaller Arcadia, and New Essen, the Canonesses continue to follow the Burgundians into new territory and finally make progress befriending the coastal natives in Burgundian Arcadia. Here, they begin a similar integrated education program (like the one with the Seminole people in Hospitaller Arcadia, from many years ago) and work very hard to overcome the racial differences stirred by many Europeans over many years, one small step at a time. The teal habit of the Adephinian Canonesses begins to become a symbol of peace and reconciliation. Some Seminole canonesses report that Seminole people refer to them as the River-Women, who are constantly reliable and neutral and peaceful – in other words, they are steady as the beating drum. Missions continue to similar effect in Giapan and Tondo. The new habits commissioned for Tondoese canonesses have become particularly useful for venturing throughout the native lands through integrating with the locals and without disturbing anything. It also makes the canonesses more comfortable, and some Tondoese canonesses returning to Essen make these remarks – as a result, some Essenian canonesses are inspired to wear the Tondoese habits (which are more lightweight and flexible) generally. This causes a small fashion revolution amongst Essenian canonesses, but this soon turns to vague hilarity when the German canonesses realise the Tondoese habits are not warm enough for German winters. One Essenian canoness writes a book on it, called the Sisterhood of the Travelling Tondoese Habits. Although it is mostly fluff and short stories, it is immediately a hit (at least in Cologne).
  • Iberia: A census is held in Iberia. It determines the population of continental Iberia to be 12.4 million, and that the majority (at least 75%) speak Portuguese, either as a first or second language. Parts of Aragon, Catalonia, Valencia, the Balearic Isles, Sardinia, Corsica, Madeira, the Azores, the Canaries, Cape Verde, and Iberian Morocco were excluded from this census for various reasons, so it's likely that the actual figure is higher. The settlement at Dili becomes a base for Iberian operations in the Lesser Sunda Islands. Maranhão continues expansion along the branches of the Amazon into OTL Maranhão, Tocantis, and Amazonas, while Nova Lusitânia expands along the Rio Napo to the Amazon. Jacó do Sequeira awaits a response from the ruler of Goa (see last turn).
    • Mêcicipi: Despite the numerous native wars plaguing northern Mêcicipi, the southern part of Mêcicipi has experienced relative prosperity since the colony was founded in 1549. The settlements have had the time to grow into proper cities with agriculture to support a population in the tens of thousands. The largest cities are: São João, at the site of OTL New Orleans; Bayuque near Baton Rouge; Fort Marialva at Biloxi; Porto de Manuel and Natchez. This year, Iberian explorers, missionaries, and fur trappers travel upriver, entering OTL Illinois, which is named Alta Mêcicipi. This also marks the first contact with the greater Iroquois tribes.

    • South Indian Diplomacy: We offer an alliance and trading pact to Iberia.
The history of Ethiopia is finished this year, chronicling the whole civilization since the beginning of the 15th century. The Council of Alexandria is still presided by Pope Matthew working for a union of faiths. International trade resumes, accepting preaceful relations with the Jaffarids and Swahili. We ask to trade with European nations.
    • South Indian Diplomacy: South India offers a trading pact and would like to maintain warm relations with the Ethiopian Empire. (PS South India needs a Coptic minority).
  • South India: The agricultural crisis had come to an end in 1722. By the time two million people had lost their lives as a result of the crisis. The old King had died in 1721 and was replaced by his youngest son, King Nageshwar Rao I of Mysore. An able administrator Nageshwar Rao I commenced a systematic purge killing most of the army officers and severely weakening the army. He went on to establish a large number of granaries in the country and established ranches and dairy farms. He set up a separate tribunal to investigate corruption in the army and another separate tribunal for the navy. A large amount of funds were diverted to the upkeep of the navy. Slowly the army was revived. The naval invasion forces of the army were transferred to the navy. The South Indian Navy now stands at 800 ships and 40,000 men including 30,000 strong amphibious invasion force. The army was slowly revived and the Army academy shifted and attached to the Naval Academy in Kollam. Kollam continues to grow and becomes the 2nd largest city in South India. The army currently stands at 60,000 unprofessional troops. Another 40,000 professional troops are being trained and training will be complete by 1728. These 40,000 troops under the First Army will consist of the Baluchistan Scouts and will have units armed with Mysorean Rockets.
    • OOC Person: Now maybe I am wrong and being premature but just checking you understand that you can call them a professional army and say they're trained but they don't gain the European line infantry algo bonus. They still count as unprofessional forces in the algo.
    • This is correct until you have extended contact with European military force the advances to you are not there. -Feud
Another 10,000 professional soldiers are trained to add to our army. The military finishes its reforms with an overhauled organisation. Military bases, barracks and forts are built in the border to Rowzi.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: We continue to politically integrate Qamar.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
  • Comancheria: Comanches send a messenger to Iberian colonies to make peace in exchange for a more steady supply of guns and modern equipment. Chief Ulaantana also allows Iberians to go through comancheria as long as they do not have weapons. Iberian Diplomacy Please. The Chief also begins training his horsemen into better fighter using Iberian military techniques.
  • Guuti Empire : Nunas begins instituting a tax on the people who have begun to adopt agriculture so she can collect the excess food and use it for her armies. Her warriors raid a northern Inuit town and and find a large amount of Caribou. They take a few caribou home and begins using them as pets. One shaman also begins studying the stars, thinking that they are actually a massive cave painting made by the gods. This quickly spreads and more shamans begin studying the stars. Nunas monitors this closely to see what they come up with. She has one of the devotees study the stars and come up with a counter-answer if they come up with something that could hurt the integrity of the Guuti Family.
  • Bengal Empire: With basically mimicking the same concepts used for the last several years, our army and agriculture become much stronger and more stable than previously. Madhya and Uttar are brought up to modern standards when it comes to the empire's middle-class citizens. Madhya is influenced greatly with 100's of Islamic missionaries spreading Islam across the region. Madhya continues to have a small yet growing Islamic minority in the region. Meanwhile, in Uttar, housing grows significantly with thousands of pristine homes being built replacing the former ones that were either damaged or were in a poorer state of condition. Pumpkin growing becomes quite popular and a breed of pumpkin has been developed for the taste of its seeds as that was the intentional purpose. This variety of pumpkin picks up in popularity and its seeds are used to be roasted and salted to be served in packaging for eating while one-third of the seeds are used for regrowing the pumpkin. The pumpkin is named Burdaganian Pumpkins for its origin in the crop fields of Burdagan. The Military Revolution continues with the school of Burdagan Yard being supported by the government through high investments. A gun is being designed for better accuracy and to be able to launch bullets at high speeds. A bullet is also being developed for this gone to have a cone shaped top to it to increase the speed to higher amounts and to also be much more effective during war campaigns then bullets already being used. The Pandestrian Mosque gains a high level of popularity and becomes a religious hub. This increases the amount of economic growth for the city. A new town is being established on an area spanning six miles along the Orrison Shores to be a thriving port city by its developer. 32,000 people are recruited in total this year into the military. Investments in military and infrastructure are made and both are increased by 9%. A new law act is made to limit debt in the nation by outlawing loans by private companies but this excludes the banking system leaving the banks minimally affected by this change but leaving some businesses that hand out loans to people's companies bankrupt. For student's that have limited funds for universities, the government has started a new program enacted by he emperor to pay off 30% of a student's tuition cost. Also, more universities are built in the nation to be public ones and to have lower and more affordable costs to attend. Another act was also founded to hand out scholarships to the most gifted of students as a way to make life easier for the children of the future. Economic growth continues leading to the nation to have an overwhelming level f prosperity leaving some surplus amounts in the budgets causing greater levels of funding pushed into the education and health system. troops begin to be trained along all of the nation's borders as a way to prepare against any attacks.
    • Modern guns in game are currently not designed for this nor is the design for such even close to available before the mid 1800's -Feud

  • Belkan Empire: The Czar officially adopts a new flag for the empire signifying the four main regions of Belka. Bulgaria, Serbia, Vlachia, and Croatia. The Flag is received positively and is put into common use relatively quickly. The Decadence of the Czar continues however this time as a result of his investment into architecture and massive projects. One such Project is the massive Bridge over the Straits of Vasili. This bridge is to be a manually operated drawbridge drawn by Horses or potentially Oxen which is to serve as a quick crossing of the straits as well as being able to be open up for naval traffic such as warships and merchant ships which will operate on a schedule. The Economy does begin to slow as the titanic projects which have been initiated by the Czar and his Duma begins to draw from the economy. The Banking system however sees a large boom as the scale of loans taken out by the Imperial Crown sees large dividends flow by via the loan payments. The Military manages to cease more appointments to officer posts for the time being as the Czar specifically prohibits it due to requests by various field marshalls and generals. An Influential Corporal is noted to have spearheaded the movement who remains anonymous in order to avoid prosecution by angered nobles. The Enlightenment movements spreads like wildfire in Croatia and many Belkan intellectuals congregate in Zadar, Sibenik, and Zagreb as well as it becomming an almost magnetic settlement point due to the near unparalleled freedoms which the Ban of Croatia has implemented compared to the rest of the empire. Czar Petar himself is impressed with this and how well society runs in this method and does nothing to stop it. His Son Valdimir however secretly plans to level Croatian freedom when he takes power. The Croatian principality (province) is notable the second most productive and wealthy in the empire behind Bulgaria proper having outpaced the longer integrated Vlach and Serb region by large margins. The Enlightenment ideas begin to propagate through various venues in croatia but also begin to slightly expand into other cities such as Vasiligrad, Tarnovo, Sofiya, and even slightly in Belgrad.
  • Ququququ: The Tribal Union's raiders are, as previously stated, known in the wider area. After contacting the Kaluli, the Ququququ begin expanding their Unions riches by copying the Kaluli agricultural knowledge throughout their lands.
    • Kaluli: The Kaluli, now protected fully from raiders begin helping the Ququququ expand their gardens.
The Army of Islamic India conducts formal drills in southern Gujarat training in formations of line and square. Emissaries are sent to neighbouring Indian states to enhance trade and alliances while small groups of soldiers are sent from the army of Islamic India not in formal uniform are sent to clash with the Thuggee cult provoking conflict. England's non- Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement. The seed drill is now universally adopted in Britain. There is an increase in the mining of coal at seams starting at the sea. Robert Walpole continues to hold power over Parliament while King William is almost of age. The Brown Bess musket continues to be put into service and starts introducing in the Army of Islamic India and trained with while Colonel Boris Johnson continues the founding of Grenadier companies.
    • British Arcadia: The 7000 troops in Arcadia are spread out with 1000 in New York, 3000 in Henry's land, 1000 in New Gwynedd and the remaining 2000 are divided between the remaining areas. In addition local militia forces do exist but they aren't standing and are spread out although they are armed. In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the west crossing into OTL Alabama as settlements develop on both sides of the rive Stout. The sale of furs, sugar, tobacco, coffee, bananas and other cash crops continue to bring in good money. The colonies are at 2.1 million people.
  • Russia: Seeing the superior Polish troops, Tsar Pyotr retreats, and begins heavily investing in the armed forces. The aging Tsar chooses his son Pyotr to become Pyotr II.

1727

As always, one hour for 1726 SupremeSensualSamrāṭSky 22:23, July 9th, 2017 (UTC)

Enlightenment and Neo-scholasticism both spread throughout Europe in varying degrees, the former being more popular with the nobility and bourgeois, while the latter attaining popularity among the clergy.

Jan Pawlak, a Polish mathematician currently residing publishes a dissertation on the propagation of sound, while also entering and winning a Prize Problem competition on the best way to place masts on a boat. (Basically, this'll be ATL Euler, so prepare for a lot of math stuff.)

Another movement, reminiscent of Diogenes of Sinope, appears in the modern day Sinope in the Ionian region. The Neo-cynics, living in barrels and breaking norms wherever they may be, soon gain popularity in Sinope and soon the movement has followers around the whole Aegean sea.

  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Modernization of military and naval technology continues. Recovery projects from the last two years that were ordered by Sultan Umar ibn Al-Jaffar are finally completed, and the state is officially finished being re-constructed. Training of our military is finalized this year, with 550,000 troops graduating and 500,000 of them being placed in the general Military, 48,000 being placed within the Military Police, and 2000 being placed within the Royal Guard. Another draft is created but only limits the able-bodied men that got selected to be on alert to be called into duty, not automatically sent in with the first divisions. The draft ends with a total of 350,000 selected. The free trade deals that we had created with Iran, Azerbaijan, Shirvan, Akhlat, and Ganja in the past year proves a great decision as the economy boosts.
  • France: In the year of our Lord 1727, France continues to experience internal prosperity. The Cardinal Borja, Bishop of Bordeaux becomes a major advocate for the counter enlightenment.
    • Papal Diplomacy: The Papal Nuncio to France praises the promotion of the Neo-scholastic Counter Enlightenment, however expresses his concern at the existence of so-called 'Human Zoos'. The Nuncio states that the existence of such institutions treats foreign people as dumb animals, which is something explicitly condemned in the famous 1541 encyclical Dilexit Deus
  • 'Guuti Empire': Membership in Guutism begins to decline. In response, Nunas creates the K'aotzi or Pagan Tax, where people who do not pledge their allegiance to Guuti or use him in their myths get taxed food by the Guuti Warriors. A new class emerges, the Zout, who have adopted an early form of agriculture. Due to their gardens getting bigger, they hire out non-Zout tribesmen to work areas of the farm in exchange for getting food. Some Zout also begin breeding Caribou and one tastes Caribou milk and starts using it. This is widely considered gross by other Zout, but will become commonplace by 1730.
  • Kingdom of Saxony: With the failure of the Polish expedition the Saxon Army now turned its sights on Anhalt as the Saxon numbers had be replenished by new recruits, and mercenaries well they also got in more equipment and training. The first attack during the siege of Anhalt cities was repulsed but barely and more will be attacking soon.
    • HREmperor Dip: Emperor William sends a message to Saxony, suggesting it'd be wise of the state to cease its aggressive campaign against Anhalt.
  • Comancheria: Chief Ulaantana dies, and his successor, Chief Wosbiku takes over. He takes a more peaceful approach to the Iberians and sends an emissary on horseback to them laiden with gifts to ask them to be allies in exchange for guns and not conquering Comancheria. In return, Comanches would protect Iberian traders and fight Iberia's enemies. IBERIA RESPONSE PLEASE
    • Iberian Diplomacy: While Iberia favors peace with the Comanche, and appreciates their conciliatory approach, they are not in favor of providing them the means to conduct more raids on Iberian colonies, with Comanche attacks still fresh in the minds of colonists. Instead, a treaty is proposed between King João II and Chief Wosbiku under these terms: Comancheria will recognize Iberia's colonial claims, and Iberia will respect Comanche territory beyond these claims. Both nations will make peace, cease raids on each other's territory, and agree to help each other against their mutual enemies (such as the Navajo). An approximate map of the borders of Comancheria by this treaty: http://www.forttours.com/images/9000.jpg
Trade is accepted with South India, hoping to extend further economy in the Indian Ocean. However, as we have no navy, we cannot send any merchants to you. The Coptic Pope Matthew III works to finish the Council of Alexandria.
  • In Savoy, Grand Duke Ferrand passes away. After a traditional period of mourning and paying respects, the eldest son of the Grand Duke, Michel, is crowned Grand Duke in a festive ceremony. Having been a notable patron of and advocate for the Hôta-Licèu and its Enlightenment ways, Michel is seen by many as a "Enlightened ruler," or a man who respects the forthcoming knowledge that is being pouring out of the Hôta-Licèu and other Enlightenment institutions from across Europe. This does cause some slight tension among the minority of Neo-Scholastic clerics who object to some of the more deist elements of the Enlightenment, but Grand Duke Michel is convinced that the majority of the population is on his side - at least, his fellow nobles and the merchant class are. With Valais (Wallis) and Sardinia under Savoyard protection, the Grand Duchy's international prestige has been on the rise recently - especially with the respective Syndicalist and Iberian threats relatively diminished for the time being. On the colonial front, Ribiera di Còmte, both the territory and the city (the latter of which is commonly known simply as Ribiera) continues to prosper and bring funds ino Savoy's treasury, as the mining exports of Or Noir are increasingly shipped through our ports.
  • Persia: The land of Persia is worked on as the Sha Al Faris works on expanding trade into India and the Jaffarid state. While the happens attepmes are made tothe Maghreb to buy some of their warships and a military allaince, this call for a military allaince is called to the Jaffarid state (MOD). THe city of Tehran is picked the capital as most trade hubs are sit up around it. The military is re organized as generals are picked for loyalty and and effectiveness. We ask the Jaffarid and the Maghreb for new military gear and in return they would pay them. (MOD)
    • Maghreb agrees - Nate
    • Jaffarid Diplomacy: We agree to the military alliance and the selling of weaponry.
  • Jin dynasty: The silhak movement (which advocates for humanism and rationalism) gains momentum, aided by the end of political repression of heterodox sects and political stability. Amidst his efforts to reduce court factionalization, newly-crowned Emperor Kim Geun (known as the Qianlong Emperor) begins implementing three major reforms. He continues to promote the printing industry, transitioning from the usage of moveable types to printing presses, with relaxed censorship laws (due to the end of literary inquisition), causes a renaissance in publications. Literacy continues to spread, with Hangul being a ruby script to complement Hanzi. Key Confucianist texts such as the Four Books and the Five Classics are freely-distributed. Pluviometres and water gauges are manufactured to maximize agricultural productivity, and the further adoption of New World crop varieties (mainly sweet potatoes and maize) in places where wheat or wet-rice cultivation is not feasible is encouraged. The architectural modernization campaign continues, with houses required to be built with stone bricks (in-place of wood) and clay tiles (in-place of thatch roofing). Bathhouses, spas, and latrines are constructed while basic hygiene and sanitation are taught. The policy of militarization continues to be pursued, with shipyards, arsenals, and industrial facilities dedicated to producing armaments being built. A labour dividend becomes increasingly pronounced, resulting from a heightened demand for commercial goods (mainly cash crops and luxury-items), from both the domestic and foreign market, coupled with freed labour following advances in agriculture. Milk-tea continues to gain popularity, with more chains of Lady Lin tea being built in Kaifeng, Nanjing, Shenzhen, and Fuzhou. The official recipe is changed, omitting tatar milk concentrate, and using concentrated milk (made by boiling the milk to make it denser and adding cane sugar) instead. More settlers are sent to the Haegajang colonies (the ports of Nangang [Jayapura] and Nanxi [New Britain]), with sailors patrolling the island meeting Russian, French, and Dutch settlements. A second shipyard is built to further cement colonial presence, and to consolidate territorial legitimacy, a thousand colonists are sent.
    • Sakha: The Khan continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving paths, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively.
  • Papal States: The Pope continues to receive near-constant updates on the goings-on of the Council in Alexandria. Meanwhile, in the States and around Europe, the Pope and the Immaculata Order do their best to promote Neo-scholasticism. A prominent Immaculata priest, Father Richard Kant, writes a work entitled La metifisica dei costumi (The Metaphysics of Morals), which is an immediate classic in the Neo-scholastic community. The book begins by emphasisng the importance of the Faith for all morals, ethics, and philosphy. Then it goes on to review Thomistic Scholasticism, praising the Scientific Method and noting its origins in Mediaeval philosophy. Then he discusses the negative aspects of republicanism and libertarianism, and instead propounds the benefits of what he terms 'monarchic corporatism'; whereby there is a monarch who is assisted by  all aspects of society in a form of college, parliament, or diet. As examples, he gives the Church, with its Bishops assisted by the presbytry and laity; and the Holy Roman Empire, with its Emperor and Diet representing the states, the guilds, and the Church. And to emphasise the wrong-headedness of republicanism and libertarianism, Father Kant notes the examples of Russia recently, and of course, of the disastrous, ill-fated Roman Republic. Missions continue in the New World, Giapan, Korea-China, Lan Xang, and Southern Africa.
    •  Sicilian diplomacy: We ask that the Papal States consider an alliance with the Sicilian kingdom to act as a counterweight to the Italian League, which is an existential threat to both of our nations.
  • Kingdom of Sicily: Talk of Enlightenment spreads through the streets of Naples and Syracuse, bringing with it new ideas to the kingdom; efforts funded by the Papacy also allow neo-scholasticism to make some ground. The king of Sicily, seeking to dissolve its rival the Italian League, calls for Austria (MOD RESPONSE) and the Papal States to form an alliance to counteract Italian power; the Papal States are informed that the Italian menace is an existential threat to both of our nations on the Italian peninsula, while Austria is promised Italy's Venetian lands.
    • Sicily OOC: So, I'd like a few clarifications on Sicily's current situation. After reading up on the Sicily page (which I don't think has been updatred in a long time), it says that Sicily currently has colonies in the New World and maintains an alliance with Iberia (along with good relations with France). Which of these are still true, and which is old info? Do I still have these colonies? Am I still allied to Iberia? Thanks. ~Orange
  • Ququququ: The Tribal Union's raiders are, as previously stated, known in the wider area. After contacting the Kaluli, the Ququququ begin expanding their Unions riches by copying the Kaluli agricultural knowledge throughout their lands. The Ququququ begin implementing the Kaluli creation myth into their traditional stories.
    • Kaluli: The Kaluli, now protected fully from raiders begin helping the Ququququ expand their gardens.
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: There is the obvious spread of all those ideas from Europe which are taken in by the nobility and clergy. Gujarat and Sindh continue as vassals of Britain while the London Civil Service schools puts our more educated men who go onto serve in India speaking the local dialects. In the Indian army at regimental level they speak the local dialect including the British officers while above regimental level they speak English. Through indirect taxes upon Gujarat and Sindh this makes good money for the company. There are both Muslim and British officers throughout the army ranks. Robert Walpole continues to hold power over Parliament while King William is now of age. New men are hired to act as travelling school teachers staying in one place for around a year and then moving along covering some of the villages. It is hoped within a decade to have increased the literacy and numeracy of the people. They are taught their letters and then some prayers in addition to basic functions. This teaching is given to all children in the village.
In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the south west crossing into OTL Alabama as settlements develop on both sides of the river Stout. The sale of furs, sugar, tobacco, coffee, bananas and other cash crops continue to bring in good money. The colonies are at 2.1 million people.
  • Kingdoms of Burgundy and Prussia: New Germany expands 50 px along the Knights River (OTL Alabama River). Maryland expands 50 px north into OTL Florida. The colony of Patagonië expands 50 px north along the coast. In Burgundy a man by the name of Peter Burmman, while working for the Burgundian Royal Navy, discovers documents pertaining to the experiments of sheathing a ship's hull (specifically the galleon Sovereign of the Seas) with copper below the waterline, protecting it from rot and wood borers. Presenting it to the Royal Navy's designers, it's found that sheathing ships with copper is now more feasible than the time of the original experiments. Orders are sent out for redesigning Burgundys next generation of ships-of-the-line to account for copper sheathing, deciding the delay in construction is worth the added effectiveness.

Neocynicism spreads further throughout Europe, gathering many adherents in barrells across the land. Many Neocynicists are jailed for their acts of public obscenity, however this does not affect the movement too much.

Jan Pawlak begins publishing more research, and applies for several teaching positions in Berlin, Oxford, Zadar and Bologna, while he works on deciding which if any to accept, or to stay in Poland.

Scholasticism takes hold in Central Italy to the support of the Pope, and also appears in France with support of the King. In France, however, both Enlightenment and Scholastic scholars are more eccentric in their hunt for the philosopher's stone.

A unusually strong Typhoon hits the Indonesian islands greatly ruining trade, with dozens of ships from every nation in the area being lost. It also causes some terrestrial damage specifically in the eastern indonesian islands specifically wiping out all of the forts and trade posts established in New Guinea as well as general knowledge of the region. Only very few chinese captains retain the knowledge.

  • Sultanate of Cyprus: Hoping to turn his island into a trade hub in the Mediterranean Sea, Sultan Jalil send an official proclamation, saying that the trade tax would be abolished for foreign merchants. This would mean that the state would not impose any kind of monetary restriction on trades or goods. With this, he hope of that traders from all Europe, Africa and the Middle East will come to his country. This new decision was heavily criticized by both local merchants and religious conservatives, who fear the impact foreigners would bring to the island (the mercants for the lost of profits and the conservatives for the immoral ideas and dubious influence the foreigners would bring). But the Sultan is, so far, convinced of the greatness of this new edict. He also order the construction of a new harbor Kyrenia for military use. To celebrate the ten years since the end of the Second Arab-Ethiopian War, Jalil send his son and heir, Farid ibn Jalil Abdur-Rashid, on a pilgrimage to Cairo to meet with the Caliph.
    • Sicilian diplomacy: We reach out to the Cypriot Sultanate and send our merchants to increase trade there. We hope to encourage further bilateral trade relations between Cyprus and Sicily, and to discourage trade with the Italian League.
  • Papal States: The Council continues. Father Kant's book grows ever-more successful. Sicily's offer of an alliance is accepted. Missions continue. Also, the University of Bologna asks Jan Pawlak to take up a position at the university.
  • Kingdom of Sicily: Austria is once again offered an alliance against the Italian League, with the promise of Italy's Venetian lands. (MOD RESPONSE) We also propose to Belka to negotiate a trade pact, which will tariff trade goods coming in and out of the Strait of Otranto. (BELKA RESPONSE) We also propose to our ally (I think) Iberia that we purchase the Maltese archipelago for 100,000 ducats. (IBERIA RESPONSE)
In other news, as the Enlightenment continues to spread throughout the kingdom, Naples becomes the intellectual hub of the country; construction of the University of Naples begins, to which we invite Jan Pawlak to teach at.
    • Sicily OOC: So, I'd like a few clarifications on Sicily's current situation. After reading up on the Sicily page (which I don't think has been updated in a long time), it says that Sicily currently has colonies in the New World and maintains an alliance with Iberia (along with good relations with France). Which of these are still true, and which is old info? Do I still have these colonies? Am I still allied to Iberia? Thanks. ~Orange
    • Austria accepts alliance secretly. -Natemod
    • General/Iberia OOC: Both are still true. You have colonies in Tobago and St. Croix (they were sponsored by Iberia) and an alliance with Iberia. Also FYI, despite its name, the Kingdom of Sicily is ruled by an elected figure called the Prince-General. The nation page is pretty accurate.
    • OOC mod: Only thing that is off is potentially population. Sicily lost a city to the League in the last war amounting to about 750,000 people. Population MAY be a little lower than it says on the page.
    • Belkan Dip: Belka will agree to trade on the condition that all dissuading on Italian League trade needs to stop. The League operates under the umbrella of Belka and so does its trade agreements which are protected and backed up by Belkas navy and own trade power.
The Pope of Alexandria continues to lead the Council, hoping to affirm the doctrinal unity for the proposed common communion, but otherwise siding with the Orthodox churches. In Cairo, envoys of Emperor Theodore work to improve relations with the Caliph as his state exists within the city.
  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Modernization of military and naval technology continues. We continue promoting the image of the Jaffarid Clan in Azerbaijan, Shirvan, Akhlat, and Ganja. We show the governance of Circassia our full acceptance of their nation-wide Orthodox Christianity, with Sultan Umar making a statement describing how although he believes Islam is the true word of God, he sees all religions and cultures as equal within the Near East. We propose a free trade agreement with the Maghreb (Mod). The economy continues to grow. We deploy a new military program, which increases the creation of weaponry and other military equipment.
  • "Free" trade isn't really a thing atm, so let's call it a preferential trade agreement to which Maghreb says yes -Sky
  • Persia: The land of Persia is worked on as the Sha Al Faris works on expanding trade into India and the Jaffarid state. The city of Tehran is picked the capital as most trade hubs are sit up around it. The military is re organized as generals are picked for loyalty and and effectiveness With the new military gear from the mid east we begin to work on copying them into a Persian fore. Horse men from mostly the North East of the nation are picked to join special assault units " Al Farsi", they are sent to the Sha to give Ba'yah to him in Theran and are given high stature in the army after completing harsh military training. A religious foundation is found by an ayatollah named Masud in the city of Theran, this group finds a large support in the city of Theran,North East and South West of the nation. The ships from the maghreb are improve and study to be copied, the navy is worked on to have 50 warships in peace time and up to 300 ships ready for war. Traders are sent to India and S.E. Asia as they begin to work as trying to have Iran be seen as the gate to the East and West (in trade).
  • Comancheria: Chief Wosbiku agrees to the treaty with the Iberians and decrees that no Comanches should attack Iberia. Wosbiku also sends a couple riders over to take on a joint expedition into Navajo territory with Iberian explorers. The Chief also asks that Iberia send them agricultural equipment and offers Iberia native slaves from other tribes in exchange for guns at some point. IBERIA RESPONSE PLEASE.
  • Guuti Empire: One Guutist begins drawing comical cave paintings. These attract lots of people from all over and Nunas takes control, making the artist tax food from people in exchange for seeing their paintings. The population of Caribou in yellowknife grows as more people breed them. One Guuti warrior breeds an especially fat caribou and begins riding it. He gains popularity and joins the devotees of Guuti, preaching Guutism while showing people tricks on his fat reindeer.
  • Poland: King Wladyslaw VI is 17, he ordered his military commanders to convene in the capital of Krakow a grand military parade would be called. The commanders were there to learn of a top secret code being commissioned called the Krakow code it was set to be commissioned by the end of the decade. Others news from the King’s parade Emissaries have been sent to Belka to improve relations. Also Fortress is being built in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Finally, the Polish Government has increased Defense spending to around 10% of the national budget the King proclaimed it would be spent on making the Polish army the most well trained in Europe along with being the most well trained. Finally on the political front, Poland Lithuania is instituting a Parliament for the first time in 50 years. Civil Unrest under The current king's father is considered the man reason for the reinstution of parliamentary proceedings.
  • Jin dynasty: To relief some strain in administration, Manchuria north of the Amur River is split-off as an autonomous commandery, with the few non-assimilated Manchus migrating there. Nivkhgu and the northern half of Haedo is similarly split-off as a separate province. A group of scholars specializing in linguistics begin to draw comparisons between the Dravidian languages of southern India and the Koreanic languages (Korean dialects and Jeju), arranging up a table of sound correspondences and possible cognates to prove the notion of their common origin. The silhak movement (which advocates for humanism and rationalism) gains momentum, aided by the end of repression of heterodox sects and political stability. However, this starts a minor reactionary movement among some intellectuals, who reject the movement in-favour of orthodox beliefs. The Qianlong Emperor (personal name Kim Geun) continues to promote the printing industry, transitioning from the usage of moveable types to printing presses, with relaxed censorship laws (due to the end of literary inquisition), causes a renaissance in publications. With typhoon affecting Haegajang and eastern Indonesia, the settlement of Nanxi is abandoned and its inhabitants are diverted into the thriving port of Nangang [Jayapura] instead. Due to the colonialization efforts proving rather futile and non-profiteable, the Emperor decides to halt further territorial expansion but decides to send more emissaries to the Angu peoples and peripheral tribes in-order to enrich the knowledge of their culture.
    • Sakha: The Khan continues to adopt Korean and Chinese architecture, paving paths, and replacing wood and thatch roofing with stone bricks and clay tiles, respectively.
  • Malaya: With damages incurred from the storm, the development of eastern Sabah is halted momentarily. As the expansion force completed its goal of expanding across North Borneo, they are hailed as the "Makers of Sabah" by the populace there. Cartographers are now tasked with mapping out the borders of Malaya, and scouting out the coastline of Borneo to see if it is worth expanding south. New of the Enlightenment reach Malayan scholars, who express their interest in contributing in what they see as "an upcoming age of knowledge and science". The settlement of Sandakan in Sabah receives trade from Tondo, and is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years. The Princes become more active in national affairs after returning from a journey to Europe, having seen the advancement of the nations there and inspired to help develop Malaya to such an instance. Anguzi magic has been largely criticized by scholars, but are countered with master practitioners stating that mortals do not understand the ways of Anguzi. Thus, the topic of the effectiveness of Anguzi magic reaches a stalemate.
  • Belkan Empire: The empire continues to experience moderate economic slowdown from the various projects undertaken by Czar Petar who now in his old age begins to delegate the day to day of the country to his son Vladimire. Vladimir is known to be an extravagent spender and holds great disdain for commoners. Czar Petar however is constantly forced to check his sons tyrannical attitude hoping to prevent his son from ruining the good name of the family. The Bridge over the Straits of Vasili begins construction and is expected to be complete in a decade due to Czar Petars meticulous method for allowing his architects and engineers to build the bridge as they see fit rather than continually interfere. The Military suffers yet another blow as Field Marshall Kamarov, hero of the Russian Civil war dies. However his son Markos Kamarov takes up the mantle with blessing of the Czar and proves to be a competent albeit young commander at age 19. His Peers are relatively unimpressed until he outshines all his peers and comrades at the annual Belkan war games near Sofiya. Czar Petar cautiously accepts the Polish envoys hoping to increase relations as well as prevent major issues between the two powers as well as hopefully re-establish slavic comraderie once again. The economy while on somewhat shaky ground due to the gross spending of the Czar on various projects however the Banks prevent further loans to the imperial crown and the government hoping to curtail the severity of the loans and such. The Belkan navy deposits an envoy escorted by 10,000 troops from the Aegean Garrison on the island of Krete requesting their movement into the empire. They are promised their local systems will be left alone and Krete will be made a province in its own right to prevent another provincial government from overturning the policies put out by the late Caliphate and Belka (MOD)
    • Principality of Ionia: The Principality suffers a catastrophe this year as the Grand Prince dies with no heirs and no designated successor. However, the Greeks having been immigrating for years, as well as the most recent large influx, have seen some very high level nobility. This brings the nobility to convene a council presided over by a representative of the Belkan empire. The council is short sweet and to the point as Constantine Anagnous to take the throne as grand prince of Ionia. He specifically continues some previous movements to bring back the various major cities. With Ionia now boasting a population of just over two million the cities such as Nicaea, Smyrna, Izmir and others have now rebuilt significantly. Large amounts of food are purchased from Belka in attempts to more or less fill the gaps unable to be filled by the lacking agricultural lands in Ionia. Specifically the Grand Prince goes out of his way to fix the agricultural discrepancies by developing fertile coastal regions.

  • Hawaii: Infrastructure on the island of Hawaii continues to be improved with the additional funds from the king's tax. In particular agricultural land is expanded and ports are constructed. The construction of the war fleet continues.
Aroud 30,000 soldiers are stationed in Sofala. The Madrassah of Mogadishu sends a delegation to Europe after receiving copies of Pawlak's research papers. A new major madrassah is founded in Mtwara. The Swahili printing industry booms following the popularisation of religious texts, some localised.

    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
  • France: In the year of our Lord 1728, France continues to experience internal prosperity. Francis I continues to expand his palace, hiding the human zoo from the public view. The Cardinal Borja, Bishop of Bordeaux becomes a major advocate for the counter enlightenment. (The italics mean I might remove it later, gotta talk to Oct first -sky)
  • Russia: The Tsar sends military observers to Belka, Scandinavia, Prussia, and France. Tuvov is expanded 5 px. Contact with Nova Uralsk is lost. Tsar Pyotr commissions the old royal palace as the University of Novgorod. Many Russian intellectuals flock to the capital. It's a minority, but one or two possible bring enlightenment ideas.
  • Iberia: The first settlers are sent to Santa Apolónia (Réunion), where they encounter Omani settlements and trade with them. Maranhão continues expansion along the branches of the Amazon into OTL Maranhão, Tocantis, and Amazonas, while Nova Lusitânia expands along the Rio Napo to the Amazon. Regular expeditions along the Mississippi begin. Mêcicipi expands upriver.

  • United Kingdom of Great Britain: There is the obvious spread of all those ideas from Europe which are taken in by the nobility and clergy. The London Civil service school continues to take boys in free of charge provided they repay with service in India for the company. Promotion is fair enough for both British men and locals. The grammar schools in India set people up to take jobs in the company. Through indirect taxes upon Gujarat and Sindh this makes good money for the company. There are both Muslim and British officers throughout the army ranks. The Army of Islamic India conducts formal drills in southern Gujarat training in formations of line and square. Emissaries are sent to neighbouring Indian states of Malwa and Kandesh offering protection from Thuggee fighters (Mod response) simply for the benefit of all of India.  England's non- Arcadian colonies continue to receive a steady settlement. The seed drill is now universally adopted in Britain. There is an increase in the mining of coal at seams starting at the sea. Agricultural revolution continues to work with the country continuing use of land reclamation, four field crop rotation and enclosures. • Bengal Empire: Our nation continues to spend money on its military causing more militaristic achievements. Many Universities open across the nation providing classes for the study of science and business. Make India Great Again has proven to be a success and continues to be a large milestone. This pushes for moe urban development and the most modern standards of living while also developing the inland regions. A Naval Training Facility is constructed along the shores of Orissa training our Naval Troops in the best styles and with the best techniques and teaching of the modern age. A harbor is purchased to reserve 230 of our ships and is named Ivory Harbor. 320,000 troops march towards the west preparing for an attack against the remaining states of Northern India with the intentions of uniting the region once and for all. We continue to explore Papua and study the region's culture while shedding light on the tribal life and ways of living with the Kuwai being very generous to offer some of the explorer's jewelry and a variety of other gifts. With high levels of gratitude from these people we establish free trade with the leader of the Tribal peoples and offer them elephants and horses which are sent over in small amounts just for teaching and educational purposes to help develop the tribal peoples and support their ambitions of further development. The effects of the Typhoon were damaging but could've been worst leading to many papers and mappings plus illustrations being lost. This does not halt our ambitions though and a month later 23 ships are sent back to find the men of the expedition and are successful but leave us still pushed back. the Tribal people's continue to be an asset to us on the island and with the help of a group of tribal women, we manage to regain basic information on the coastal region but continue to search for the Muyu people as the Typhoon had damaged the papers to find our way into the jungle and relocate the tribe.  We offer the MAharasthra and Rajasthan States to join the Empire for the better of their states and offer protection of their security and heritage and promise growth or face unavoidable invasion (MOD Response).

Jan Pawlak decides to stay in Krakow, however, wishes for the Krakow university to be more in contact with other universities, including the Russian one(s).

In their hunt for the philosopher's stone, numerous followers of enlightenment begin using alchemy.

Neocynics are know reaching all of Europe, although their barrels in the north seem a bit more warm than the southern ones. Although much smaller than the other two mainstream movements in Europe, it does have support partially from both Enlightenment supporters and Neoscholasticists, however it also faces criticism from both.

Expansion in the southern islands and the rest of Polynesia continues, with the Hawaiians using the technology they recently acquired to further their influence in the south. Backed by the Hawaiian military, Puni of Bora Bora manages to subjugate the islands of Raiatea, Tahaa and Maupiti, incorporating them into the Kingdom of Bora Bora.
  • Poland: King Wladyslaw is 18, the Polish Sejm is in session. Jan Pawlak is named head of the university of Krakow's school of Mathematics and given a large budget substituted by the state and the University. The King sends an alliance offer the French King and Offers an Alliance and trade(Player Response) to Balka in exchange for relinquishing Poland's claim on Balkas throne.(Player Response). The Krakow code is coming along nicely. Wladyslaw sends spies across the border to infiltrate Prussian Government and social structure along with having them join the military to learn of Prussian plans.  Finally the Polish Army counties to to train at a breakneck pace practicing bayonet fighting and marksmanship along with strict discipline. They are on there way to becoming the best trained force in Europe. They begin constructing a great fortress in Lithuania to protect it.
  • Infiltration isn't a possibility for you atm -Sky
  • Sicily: We reiterate our offer to Iberia to purchase the Maltese archipelago or 100,000 ducats. Back in Naples, construction of the University of Naples continues. Meanwhile, in a move that is raising some eyebrows, the Prince-General of Sicily visits Venice, claiming to be finding inspiration for the Unniversity of Naples' architecture and art; unfortunately, he is attacked by an alleged (by the Prince-General and Sicilian press) Italian nationalist. The Prince-General returns home shortly after this. While Italian diplomats accuse the Prince-General of setting up a false-flag operation, the Sicilian government uses this incident to justify military actions: a buildup of Sicilian forces on the Italian border, Sicilian navies patrol the waters around its territory, and a general mass recruitment of more soldiers and sailors (along with more shipbuilding) occur. More military tech research occurs, and Sicily alerts its allies: Iberia, the Papal States, and Austria, to be ready at a moment's notice. (SECRET) Spies are sent to the Italian League to infiltrate their government, sabotage military exercises, and stir up anti-League nationalism amongst their populace (encouraging the people to rise up and throw out Slavic [Belkan] influence). (END SECRET)
  • As stated in Poland's turn, spies are kind of an iffy situation, so they're basically striked out most of the time. The rest of your turn is just a bit messy I guess, but I'm not going to do anything bcs I don't really know how to respond. Very unique thought process, kudos. -Sky
  • I agree. Spies and assassinations of foreigners are generally not allowed, but killing your own guy...I suppose that's allowed ~Cal
  • Another thing, Italian nationalism isn't a thing and won't be a thing for at least 100 years. Same goes for provoking Belka in that diplo post. Note however that Sicily DOES in fact have another claim on the Italian League if you wish to go to war for it. -Sky
    • Sicily OOC: I'm not sure if this requires an RNG, but (this is a secret, shhh) this is indeed a false-flag operation on the part of the Sicilians. If I can't do this, just literally cross the whole diplomatic-breakdown-thing out. Same goes for the spying, which I admit might be somewhat of a stretch.
    • Sicilian diplomacy: The following message are sent to the following powers:
      • To Iberia: Be ready to support the Sicilians in the event of a war, or risk losing your ally and influence on the Italian peninsula.
      • To the Papal State: Should Italian aggression continue, be ready to at last end this menace once and for all.
      • To Austria (secret): Prepare your troops. Should tensions boil over and we win the war, Venetia is yours.
      • To Belka: We denounce the attack as an agressive move by your expansionist little protectorate. Beware.
      • Iberia to Sicily (secret): Sicily has our support, just as we have supported you in the past against the Italian League and Belka. We would not seek to break this alliance, as it aligns with our goal of reducing Belkan influence in the Mediterranean. However, we don't agree to sell Malta, because the Count of Malta has expressed his concerns that the island would be used as a bargaining chip should Belka capture it from Sicily.
      • Belkan Dip: Sicily will stand down or face the consequences. LEAVE THE LEAGUE ALONE.
  • 'Guuti Empire': A shaman, high on Guuti's Blood, begins writing down a cave painting of thousands of strange symbols. After this, he dies. His children and colleagues visit the painting and begin deciphering it. The Caribou rider trains a few of his friends to also ride caribou. They soon open up a hut in Yellowknife where they teach people on Caribou riding lessons. One witch doctor begins making a brew that will help disinfect wounds. Nunas selects her heir and begins training him in Guutism and leadership.
  • Sultanate of Cyprus: With the new influx of European merchants (mainly from Italy and the Belkan Empire), many local merchants began to complain about the supposite favoritism of the Sultan toward foreign traders. In order to appease those complains, the Sultan announce a series of new administrative reforms for the government. Those reforms will create Mujtamae (Societies), which will act like ministries and federal organizations (with members chosen by the Sultan, of course). One of those will be the Mujtamae Altijara (Trade Society), were foreign traders will have to register and pay a small registration fee (no registration will be needed for local merchants). However, those reforms will only be implemented next year. This year, the Sultan focus on buildin new ships for his fleet, and attempt to finish the massive harbor in Kyrenia he started last year. Sultan Jalil also send a letter to Czar Petar of the Belkan Empire, asking to hire naval engineers to modernize the Cypriot fleets and to work at the Mujtamae Albahriu (Naval Society), which will be part of the reforms for next year. (PLAYER RESPONSE NEEDED).
  • Jaffarid Sultanate: Modernization of military and naval technology continues. Another 50,000 troops are added to the Military. We cut Circassia's ability to see any holy sites within the Sultanate unless they become our vassal. We also relay that if they do not accept the vassalization of their state, that we will simply invade, enslave their entire population, and then vassalize the nation anyway (Mod). Sultan Umar ibn Al-Jaffar, age 34, finally selects whom will secede him as Sultan, and selects his first nephew Ebrahim Hatim El-Jaffar, whom is currently six. Ebrahim, after turning 18 and completing his first pilgrimage, will become the new Sultan of Arabia. This is expected to occur in 1741. More military bases and forts are constructed in Hejaz, Southern Jerusalem, Northern Levant, and Assyria. We continue trading within India, buying spices and stuff.
    • Sultanate of Oman: With the Yaruba Dynasty still in power, Abdul bin Sultan, the current Imam of Oman, brings together cultural projects that are used to hopefully stop a civil war. After the collapse of the Rashidun and the inability to obtain independence through the Treaty of Cairo, many younger nationalists and older traditionalists began fighting each other in the streets of Muscat. The military was able to break up the conflict, but tensions remain higher between the sides. The population is currently at one million, with the military standing around at a mere 1000.

    • Circassia is shooken by Arabia's treatment here, and sends their pilgrims to Pontus instead
  • Comancheria: Comanche riders make expeditions northward to get Pawnee natives to join in with the Comanches (MOD RESPONSE). They do this in secret so Iberians won't know that they broke their treaty. Comanche horse riders also make an expedition to the Iroquois in hope of an anti-colonial alliance (MOD RESPONSE).  Chief Wosbiku begins training his warriors in ways to counteract gun warfare.
    • Iroquois secretly accepts an alliance.
    • Pawnee are sworn enemies of Comanche and scalp the riders. -Nate
    • Papal Dip: Some Immaculata missionaries approach the Comanche and ask for permission to spread the Faith.
      • Comancheria: My last act as the Comanche player will to say that they are allowed.
  • Maghreb: Sultan Amin Bin Aiyo ascends the throne of the Maghreb. He commissions several Berber explorers to travel to OTL Angola to establish a trading post there. A Kazir takes a trip to the Italian League and learns about the enlightenment, bringing various ideas from it to Maghreb. This starts a reformist Muslim movement, which seeks to minimize the role of islam in the sciences and to minimize Muslim influence over society. The Berber language becomes more popular and Berber Nationalism begins to grow. Some intellectuals in Fez begin wanting to separate Berber identity from Arab identity and develop their own culture. The Kazir of Fez visits the Swiss Confederacy and picks up the idea of Syndicalism, taking it back with him. It gains popularity among Barbary pirates as it reflects their lifestyle. Amin expands 10 px on the coast of West Africa, making contact with and vassalizing local tribes.
    • Tajammanid Emirate: The Emir creates a missionary training center and begins sending Muslim missionaries out to OTL Patagonia (MOD RESPONSE). The main city, Tajamman, becomes more developed and art and architecture flourish there.
    • Arawaka: The Kazir of Arawaka builds several mosques and begins introducing Islamic architecture to the native peoples.
    • Emirate of Al Maqadas: The Emir outlaws piracy and slavery unless it is directly licensed by him. The remaining pirates begin selling the slaves as indentured servants. He cites a chapter in the Q'uran about treating your neighbor equally as his excuse. His ships are set out to capture slave traders and pirates that then voluntarily work for the Emir or go back to Africa. He sends Muslim missionaries to the west and south.
  • Persia: The land of Persia is worked on as the Sha Al Faris works on expanding trade into India and the Jaffarid state. The city of Tehran is picked the capital as most trade hubs are sit up around it. The military is re organized as generals are picked for loyalty and and effectiveness. With the new military gear from the mid east we begin to work on copying them into a Persian form. Horse men from mostly the North East of the nation are picked to join special assault units " Al Farsi", they are sent to the Sha to give Ba'yah to him in Theran and are given high stature in the army after completing harsh military training. A religious foundation is found by an ayatollah named Masud in the city of Theran, this group finds a large support in the city of Theran,North East and South West of the nation, This foundation begins to gain more support as youth from mostly middle class families begin to follow the new organisation. The ships from the maghreb are improve and study to be copied, the navy is worked on to have 50 warships in peace time and up to 300 ships ready for war. Traders are sent to India and S.E. Asia as they begin to work as trying to have Iran be seen as the gate to the East and West (in trade). The government begins to work on creating waterways, creating man made rivers and organizing ways of farming to help improve the population.
  • Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot:Our king dies of old Age (he is realy old) and Paulo Augustino Diltwa Succeseeds him and becomes new king of Mzerka. He directly call for modernisation and a new age of contact and inovation to begin a boom.We Also ask the Iberians and Vatican for aid(Player response) to help our Country. We also keep mining gold and we for the first time set a flag on our fleet.Paulo Begins to looks for plans for reforms and we ask Iberia if its posible if we could have more trading relations with other states. We also keep improving our tech mostly iron works and boats. We also Send Explorers to all over the coast circa 100 men to explore. The army also is forced to do a oath to their king.
    • Iberian Diplomacy: Iberia agrees, and continues assisting Mzerka in developing their state and military.
    • Papal Diplomacy: Many members of the Curia in Rome have fond memories of Paul Augustino from his education here as a child and young man. They petition the Pope to send a decent financial package to the new King, and the Pope agrees, sending him a personal letter as well as a large sum of gold.
    • Mzerkan Diplomacy:We thank both Iberia and The papal states and we invite both of your power to the Royal Palace of Mzer to talk about the relation between our states and our new monarchs.
  • Papal States: The Ecumenical Council in Alexandria is going well. The Catholic delegation feels there is basic agreement with the Orthodox and Copts, and that once some minor misunderstandings have been sorted out, there will be a conclusion and full reunification of Christendom. Neo-scholasticism continues to be promoted in universities and in the schools run by the religious orders, as well as parish schools. Father Kant's book remains immensely popular amongst Neo-scholastics, and many copies are sent to France, Northern Germany, and other parts of Europe. After the 'Cornaro Scandal', only a small number of women, all nuns and canonesses, continue to take univerity degrees, and those that do do so in theology and laws. Sicily is asked to try and de-escalate tensions with Italy, with the Pope offering to mediate. Missions continue in the New World, China, Japan, Lan Xang, Southern Africa.
    • Belkan Dip: The Belkans greatly appreciate the papal decision to mediate and hope sicily will take this offer and back down. However what is the papal states stance should Sicily not back down?
    • Papal Dip: The Papacy will not take military action unless either it or Sicily are attacked by the Italians (or anyone else, for that matter), following the Just War principles of St Thomas Aquinas.
As the beliefs and practices of the Ququququ and their allies become more and more similar, the Ququququ officially introduce the Sambia, Fore and Kaluli as members of the Ququququ union. Namton A'fao Koito, along with the Council, announces that they have analysed the beliefs of all tribes and have come to the conclusion that all members of the Ququququ, and possibly even other tribes on this land, are quite possibly related to each other, and therefore should unite for the common good.
    • Bilabil: With the help of numerous Ququququ workers the Bilibil rebuild their trade canoes and restore some homes, while new ones are built on the coast of the Ququququ union.
  • Belkan Empire: Seeing Sicily's acts of aggression as a front to reduce the league by a heavy factor Czar Petar stalls all payments on larger projects and reinvests them into the military. The Entire Navy is deployed with nearly 300 ships in squadrons deploys in patrols along the Sicilian coast blockading it in its entirely as well as leaving the Belkan coasts defended. This prevents an army landing by any other power without the algos to defeat my navy. The Army is gathered together and the entire force of 60,000 is brought together under the Younger Field Marshall Kamarov who also goes out of his way to raise the massive garrison regiments of the Belkan army manning every fort. The Belkan army specifically raises nearly 150,000 non professional troops to guard important locations. The Strategic forts on Gallipoli are manned as is the Strategic fort at Trieste with nearly 30,000 men a piece (not from the Professional army) Following this the Belkan unprofessional forces man every major city or fort on the border with Austria as well as Hungary with nearly 20,000 men apiece. With only a few passes to march through the Austrians or Hungarians would have to blatantly concentrate allowing the Belkan armies a very clear time frame to remobilize to counter their offensive measures. For locations that do not have forts new forts are constructed (these are just general forts not strat forts) to prevent undue invasion and other issues. Another 100,000 men are raised and 20,000 begin to be trained in professional tactics and very clearly the other 80,000 remaining of Belkas manpower is to act as a strategic reserve. While this is underway, the Czar himself visits Ionia and speaks to their new grand prince giving them a task. The Ionians are to bring their army to bear along side their belkan comrades These forces are raised with 46,000 troops raised from the Greek nation. While the war is somewhat dubious it is seen as a potential to train the army against a direct force in preparation for future wars against potential Muslim aggressors. This force is sent marshaled alongside the Belkan army giving it an effective strength of 106,000 troops. However, the 46,000-man strong army is split off and send to man Trento the Capital of the Italian league and prevent a unwanted agressor from the north. With the betrayal of Poland nearly a century ago in the mind of Kamarov, having studied the war extensively, he does not rule out that friendly austria or Hungary will not turn on Belka and strike from the north. The remaining 60,000 troops from Belka are deployed to Abruzzo with a nearby evacuation force in case it the issue does not go to plan. Hoping to quickly solidify alliances Belka accepts the Polish deal and offers them an alliance ignoring previous disputes out of necessity. Russia is also approached and requested to help in the case of the war going sour and help with the Defense of Belka rather than any direct combat operations. this is in due consideration for Russian losses during the civil war. (Orwell). With the confirmations of the age old russian alliance as well as the new confirmation with poland the Belkans begin training 80,000 russian troops in the concepts of Belkas shock doctrine and bringing the Russians completely up to par as a Belkan ally emerging into the modern military age. Sadly with such a recent annexation of Krete the Belkan forces deployed here (roughly 10,000) begin to fortify Krete, specifically fortifying its cities as well as building new forts around the island. Rhodes citadel is also consequently modernized.
    • British Dip: We offer an alliance with Belka in which if either is at war with Iberia the other is bound to support.
    • Belkan Dip: We agree due to the strategic need of said alliance
    • Poland agrees to the alliance
    • Russia sends 80,000 troops in need of training.
    • Maghrebi Dip: Maghreb would like to offer an alliance with Belkas to secure our interests in the Mediterranean and work against Iberia and Sicily.
  • Swahili: We continue our agriculture policies and adapt more plants to the Swahili climate. The army continues convincing contracted servants. We continue colonial expansion in Northern Somalia, in the South and in the Malindi and Mombassa area. . Colonisation steadily increase as medicine and weaponry becomes more widespread. Several libraries are built in Swahili.  Technological advances speed up as a result of the cultural and technological exchanges in the embassies. The standing army practices marksmanship and bayonet training as they become more disciplined. The socket bayonet is adopted. Local militias are trained to act as a major reserve force in a war. Development in the Madrassah of Mtwara continues as it focuses itself to natural sciences.
    • Sultanate of Qamar: We continue to politically integrate Qamar.
    • Lakshadweep: The island of Lakshadweep is further developed.
    • Olungu: Olungu expands and is further developed.
  • Russia: Tuvov is expanded 5 px (ADD IT GENERAL). General Nikolai Vladimir travels to Belka to observe the war. The army continues modernization. The Russian Black Sea Fleet is send to the location of the Belkan Med fleet to join them. The Russian economy is partially set to war. The Republic still haunting the Tsar, declares Martial Law in the southern provinces. The taste of Chinese tea consumes the minds of many traders, who begin to travel to china frequently with ever larger ships. Eastern Traders bring other things on their trade ships, Orthodox missionaries begin to travel in small numbers. Some fur traders in northern Chinese trade ports begin to also see silk and some seek for Russian domination over the clothing industry. This however only get some idiots booted from China for good, who move their operations to selling in Japan.
  • Iberia: Predicting a conflict in Italy, 20,000 troops are sent to Sicily to support them in case of war. The first grenadier regiments are trained this year. Training will continue for the next few years. Maranhão and Mêcicipi continue expansion.
The Army of Islamic India moves 30,000 men into Malwa to conducts patrols and raids on the outlaws to end lawlessness promoted by Thugee. A policy of payment for information leading to the arrest of criminals is started while food is provided by the company to villages in areas most affected by violence and patrols. There is an increase in the mining of coal at seams starting at the sea. Agricultural revolution continues to work with the country continuing use of land reclamation, four field crop rotation and enclosures. England has 6.5 million people and inside of that London has a population of 0.8 million, Wales has 0.6 million Ireland has 1.6 million people and Scotland 0.9 million people. The army undergoes a shifting of forces to the south of England with 35,000 in England, 3000 in Ireland and Scotland each and 2000 in Wales while an additional 9000 troops are overseas with 5000 in Arcadia, 2000 in English Maiam, 1000 in Haiti as well as 500 in St George, St Helena, New Canterbury and Bay of Kost. The fleet is divided with 150 ships stationed in Portsmouth and 150 ships stationed in Bristol. Trade with colonies in a triangular trade going through Africa, America and Europe is profitable. Robert Walpole continues to hold power over Parliament while King William is now of age. The traveling teachers continues to be implemented as they move to more villages to teach more children. The Brown Bess musket continues to be put into service and starts introducing in the Army of Islamic India and trained with while Colonel Boris Johnson finishes introducing Grenadiers to the army and is given command of a regiment in England. The roads and the canals are given maintenance to ensure the transport network of Britain is in good shape.
    • British Arcadia: The 5000 British troops in Arcadia are spread out with 1000 in New York, 2000 in Henry's land, 1000 in New Gwynedd and the remaining 1000 are divided between the remaining areas. In addition local militia forces do exist but they aren't standing and are spread out although they are armed. In New Essex there is a push 50 px to the west crossing into OTL Alabama as settlements develop on both sides of the river Stout. The sale of furs, sugar, tobacco, coffee, bananas and other cash crops continue to bring in good money. There is a militia of 21,000 citizens who are while unprofessional do have weapons and supplies. The colonies are at 2.1 million people.
    • Saxony: This year Anhalt finally falls and a messenger from Bamburg is killed by Saxon troops and a message is planted on his body by the side  of the road. The message reads, “To the Lord of the Fief of Wurzburg. Saxon ambition has peaked and we must destroy them before they destroy us. We must gather more States to our cause. -Bishop of Bamburg.” The Saxon army fresh from battle in Anhalt quickly marched south and staged itself just north of Bamburg.
    • Bengal Empire: Our empire continues to rule over the majority of Northern India and making the region "Great Again". Our development of coastal regions continue. Due to some uncertainties with the Diplomacy sent to the Rajasthan and Maharasthra States, we instead request an alliance and await there response. Mosques are opened up across the nation in order to attract more islamic followers in magnificent styles and forms. A large Mosque is ordered to be built in Orissa. It will be the size spanning 20 Hectares and stand 280 feet tall and be the main center of Muslim culture in the region. Workers begin to be hired and construction on the superstructure begins. It will be named Isalāmēra mukuṭa and be the largest structure in the Empire. Our military continues to develop and weaponry also modernizes further. We decide to back off our invasion attempts for now. Ivory Harbor continues to serve as a large asset to the Bengali Military and Navy. Influence over the Kuwai continue and we support them in their most recent war conflict with the Aru people. We teach the tribes about islam and further our agenda of spreading our culture around the region. We also with the success of Bengali and Burmese literature books now have a Bengali and Burmese speaking population. A large shipment of guns are sent over to help train tribal men how to fight. We also send over seemstress and clothing designers to the island to assist in making appropiate clothing in the people's liking. With a less of a language barrier in place, we were able to share them designs of new housing that one of the Tribal people had claimed to be the impossible. But we continued to show them these and the first semi modern houses are built. To the workers on the expedition it just looked like well made large shacks but to them, it was fit for a king. Our support of the Kuwai continue and we begin designing a crown for the leader of the people. Designs for uniforms for the Kuwai begin with the help of the leader of the people to see what he thinks is best fitting. With the support of helping the Kuwai conquer the Aru, we notice an establishment of a greater society in Indonesian Papua. Development of these peoples continue. Banten adopts our agricultural techniques and we open a school for training a military for the territory so it could be more self sustaining. This also includes 30 ships being sent over to gaurd the island and serve for the now developing army and future navy.
