The 1880 Burgundian Games were held in Dijon, Burgundy from 14–25 August 1880, and were the first edition of the Burgundian Games. The first ever sporting event encompassing the entire Burgundian empire, the 1880 Burgundian Games were first organized by representatives from Nova Belgica years prior, however, the inaugural games were delayed until after the conclusion of the War of the Rhine in Europe.

Main Events[]

In the rugby championship Avelskamp, Burgundy, Nova Belgica, and New Netherlands advanced to the finals, with Burgundy defeating Nova Belgica in the final round. In association football Burgundy, Nova Belgica, New Netherlands, and Patagonië advanced to the finals, with New Netherlands defeating Burgundy 1-0 in overtime. In the ice hockey competition Nova Belgica defeated Burgundy in a narrow victory.
