1986 World Cup[]

The 1986 World Cup was awarded to Argentina and Uruguay in a joint bid. Mainly investments were made in Uruguay specifically in the cities of Durango, Montevideo, and Maldano, and the Argentine city of Atlantea. Many 1978 WC sites were renovated and renewed. This WC brought many tourists to the nations, and Montevideo has firmly established itself as a top tourist destination for Europeans, Asians, and North Americans.

Argentina comes from down 2 -1 at the half to score in the 89th min on a Maradona bicycle kick, Brazil complained that Maradona touched it with his hand, but play continued. In the 119, Maradona scored on a 1 v 1 with the keeper, putting the ball into the top right corner just out of the keeper's reach.
