The 2012 United States presidential election was the 57th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. The Democratic ticket of senators Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham defeated the Republican ticket of incumbents Paul Ryan and Rick Santorum.
