The 2015 Rugby World Cup was the second Rugby World Cup.

Host Selection

On 8 May 2012, the International Rugby Football Board (IRFB) recommended Ireland and Scotland under the Celtic Alliance as host nations for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, beating out Japan, Venice and New Britain for hosting rights.

At the same time, Japan was awarded host nation rights for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. This will be the first time the competition visits a Tier 2 team (after New Zealand, and the Celtic Alliance).
