The 2016 United States Senate elections were held on November 8th, 2016 along with the presidential election, house elections, 14 gubernatorial elections and local and state elections.

The Republicans kept their majority in the senate, with losing two senate seats to the Democratic Party. Republican United States Senators Mark Kirk of Illinois and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin lost their senate seats to Democratic nominees, United States Representative of Illinois 8th Congressional District Tammy Duckworth and former United States Senator of Wisconsin Russ Feingold.

Republican United States Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Mike Lee of Utah didn't run for re-election to the senate due to being the 2016 Republican presidential and vice presidential nominee respectfully. Kentucky and Utah would both stay in Republican hands.
