The 56th Californian federal election was held on 6 November 2018 to elect the members of the 56th Parliament of California. At this election, all 135 seats of the Californian House of Representatives and 24 of the 48 seats in the House of Councillors were contested. The governing Coalition (composed of the Democratic, Progressive and Green Parties) under incumbent Chancellor Bernie Sanders of Cochimia competed against the Liberals under incoming leader Susan Brooks of Cascadia. The election resulted in both major parties losing seats to the Conservative Party of California: the Coalition lost one, while the Liberals lost three. The Coalition government was thus re-elected for a second term, albeit with a slightly reduced majority.
