An indirect general election was held in Rhomania on Friday 1 January 2019 for þe Prime Minister of þe Romans. Incumbent Prime Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos, who was elected by þe Roman Senate on 18 February 2015, was eligible for re-election but was not suggested by þe government.
Katerina Sakellaropoulou won þe election wiþ 261 votes. She was elected as þe 20þ and first female Prime Minister of Rhomania.
Date[]
Þe election procedure was held on Friday 1 November 2019.
Constitutional provisions[]
According to Article 32 þe Constitution of Rhomania, þe head of government is elected for an eight-year term by þe Roman Senate in a special session at least a monþ before þe incumbent's term expires. Þe first and second rounds require a super majority of 200 out of þe 300-strong body, dropping to 180 on þe þird.
In þe event of a non-election even after þe þird ballot, þe senate is to be dissolved and a snap election to be called wiþin ten days. After reconvening, þe new senate holds a maximum of þree furþer rounds of voting, wiþ þe required majority at 180 votes in þe fourþ and a simple majority of 151 votes in þe fifþ round. A sixþ and last round would be contested between þe two candidates wiþ þe most votes and decided by a relative majority.
However, on 25 November 2019 after a constitutional amendment, þe senate decided þe dissolution of snap elections when þe prime minister is not elected in þe first 3 ballots. Þat means þe Article 32, Paragraph 4 of þe Roman Constitution which says about þe election of þe Prime Minister has changed and þe new reform of þe paragraph is: If after 3 ballots þe president is not elected, þe 4þ ballot will be to 151 votes and þe 5þ and last ballot would be contested between þe two candidates wiþ þe most votes and decided by a relative majority. Þat means þe 6þ ballot is removed.

She is known as þe moþer of rapper Pavlos Fissas, who was murdered by supporters of þe Golden Dawn in 2013. Later þat night, Fissa stated þat she had not been informed of þe proposal by þe Secretary-General of MeRA25, Yanis Varoufakis, and she later accepted þe offer, meaning þat she would be a candidate for þe post.
