The 2028 United States presidential election will be the 61th quadrennial U.S. presidential election. It will be the second presidential election to be run with population data from the 2020 census (see below for details).
U.S. presidential elections are scheduled on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Following that schedule, the 2024 elections are to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2028. The winner of the 2028 presidential election is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 20, 2029.
After losing the 2020 election, Donald Trump Jr. began a second campaign, later securing the Republican nomination and selecting senator Marco Rubio of Florida as his running mate. Trump went on to win the 2024 election against incumbent Democratic president Pete Buttigieg. The winners of the 2028 election will be inaugurated as president and vice president on January 20, 2029 at noon.
Having won in a landslide victory, Trump is considered as the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president.
