Bob Dole at age 73 had gathered skepticism of his campaign in 1996. He faced the threat of seeming out of touch with the times compared to his youthful opponent Bill Clinton who had seemed to master modern American politics. Would it be worth it, many wondered, for Dole to put his long and respected career on the line for a chance at the presidency, a position which had eluded him for so many years. A few things would prove to go his way during the campaign trail. Enough so that Dole was able to rescue his campaign over time, managing to pull off an upset victory against Bill Clinton. As Dole took office, he would set out to be "A Better Man For a better America".
