Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – March 17, 1889) was an American politician from Illinois who served as 15th President of the United States from 1861 to 1869. Lincoln led the U.S. through one of its bloodiest conflicts, albeit was unsuccessful in defeating their enemies.
