Adolf Hitler (20 April 1889 - 16 August 1960) was an Austrian politician and the leader of the Socialist Party. He was president of Austria from 1940 to 1948, reigning through the World War II, where his leadership helped defeat the Soviet armies in the Eastern Front.

A decorated veteran of World War I, Hitler had fought in the Austrian Revolution, which had successfully resulted in the abdication of Emperor Charles I. He soon joined the Austrian Socialist Party in 1928, became leader in 1940, and had greatly defeated the other candidates in the 1940 election.

Hitler is considered one of the greatest presidents of Austria, for his efforts in the Revolution as well as his leadership in the Second World War. A memorial had been built in his honor in Vienna, near his burial place alongside his wife.
