Aeroplane (The Fork in Time)

A typical modern-day aeroplane photographed in 2013 AD.

An airplane (Canadian/Onakwaring, Italian/Itallander, and New Human Ænglisc) or aeroplane (Commonwealth, Greek, and Anglo-Powhatanlander/Jamestownian Ænglisc), informally plane for both variants, is a fixed-wing aircraft that is propelled forward by thrust from a jet engine, propeller, or rocket engine. Aeroplanes come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and wing configurations. The broad spectrum of uses for aeroplanes includes recreation, transportation of goods and people, military, and research. Worldwide and across outer space, commercial aviation transports more than eight billion passengers annually on airliners and transports more than 200 billion tonne-kilometers of cargo annually, which is less than 1% of the world's cargo movement. Most aeroplanes are flown by a pilot on board the aircraft, but many others are designed to be remotely or computer-controlled such as drones, which have seen a quick increase in popularity since World War I (1700-1721 AD).

An airplane-aeroplane in outer space (TFiTTL)

A modern-day aeroplane flying above Eorþ in outer space; photographed c. 1998 AD; as of 1715 AD, they have the ability to fly there alongside typical space transportation vehicles.

[TBD inventor(s)] invented and flew the first aeroplane in 1515 AD, recognized as "the first sustained and controlled heavier-than-air powered flight". They built on the mediæval works of [TBD inventors] dating from the late 14th century AD when they set forth the concept of the modern aeroplane (and later built and flew models and successful passenger-carrying gliders) and the work of German(ic)/Theedish/Theodisclander pioneer of human aviation [TBD inventor], who, between 1476 and 1487 AD, also studied heavier-than-air flight. [TBD inventor]'s flight attempts in 1490 AD are traditionally seen as the beginning of human flight, and following its limited use in the Anahuaco-Spanish War, aircraft technology continued to develop from there. Aeroplanes had a presence in all the major battles of [TBD wars taking place in various centuries AD]. The first jet aircraft was the [TBD jet aircraft] in 1560 AD, the first jet airliner, the [TBD jet airliner], was introduced in 1578 AD, and the first space-friendly aircraft, the [TBD spaceplane], was introduced in 1715 AD. The [TBD commercial jet], the first widely successful commercial jet, was in commercial service for over 110 years, from 1585 to at least 1707 AD, and another popular one from 1958 to 2019 AD.
