The Afghan-Saudi Trade Agreement was concluded in 1949 between the Kingdom of Afghanistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to establish Saudi rights to the development of Afghan oil and natural gas deposits in exchange for investment in Afghanistan's modernization.

  • The Arabian Standard Oil Co. will have the sole right to develop and sell Afghanistan's oil and natural gas deposits.
  • In exchange, the government of Saudi Arabia will invest money in developing Afghanistan's modernization, particularly including the following spheres: the mining industry, education, infrastructure, and the Afghan Royal armed forces.
