With Eisenhower term-limited from office, the clear front runner for the Republican nomination was incumbent vice president Richard Nixon. He won 11 primaries, the only two he lost were to in state officials in South Dakota and West Virginia. Leaving the Republican National Convention(RNC) to be a pretty dull affair.
