  • Kogasa - Kogasa has been actively contributing to many timelines and map games simultaneously this past year. All of which his contributions to have been of a very high standard. VonGlusenburg (talk to Von!) 13:04, December 1, 2012 (UTC)

Best Writer in a Community Timeline

This award is for the best male or female writer on a community timeline in 2012. Acceptable community timelines are listed here, or have similar notices on their front pages.

Nominations

  • Lordganon - LG is just simply a superb editor on this wiki, and his work in DD is simply amazing. On top of that you can be assured that he'll able to fix the contradictions in whatever you add to the timeline. Not only does he write excellent articles, he is a living database of infinite knowledge about the timeline canon. IMPERIAL NY-SPQR 1Regen Flag Fegelein! Fegelein! Fegelein! 00:31, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
  • PitaKang - Hard choice, this award. Pita's done a lot of work around the wiki this year. Besides all the cleanup of the wiki in general, he's also been heavily involved in the formation and running of map games. He's messed around with DD a bit, has been advising Scan and Guns with their new project, and has been working on his new project, Zossen Conspiracy, with others. Just been handy in general for community work. Lordganon (talk) 03:50, December 30, 2012 (UTC)

Best TSPTF Member

This award is for the member of the TSPTF that has been the "best" in 2012. Only current members of the TSPTF can be nominated. Brass, Lieutenants and Constables can all be nominated. No member of TSPTF can nominate themselves.

Nominations

  • Kogasa - "9" has managed to impress me this year. Between doing a bit of categorizing, reverting vandalism, and being helpful in general, he's done a lot of work this year after getting his position in February - more than almost any constable ever has, insomuch as I've seen. Soon as it seems like we need another Lt., he's getting the nom, I assure you. Lordganon (talk) 11:37, December 12, 2012 (UTC)
  • Katholico - Kath is a great user. He's also one of the biggest copyeditors I've seen around here, and he also removes spam and vandalism frequently, and also very friendly and resourceful. IMPERIAL NY-SPQR 1Regen Flag Fegelein! Fegelein! Fegelein! 21:38, December 26, 2012 (UTC)

Best Copyeditor

This award is for the editor who has done incredible copyeditting work in the year 2012. Copyeditting consists of things such as spelling/grammar work, cleaning up layouts, and categorization.

Nominations

  • EoGuy - Eo has become more active this year and has gone all out in fixing our little mistakes that we never bother noticing. The community owes a massive debt to him for fixing all our little splodges and tidying the place up. 03:20, December 1, 2012‎ Scrawland Scribblescratch
  • NuclearVacuum - Nuke's done a lot this year. He's fixed up a few articles, but that's not the reason for this nomination. Simply put, he's done a ton of work cleaning up and fixing duplicate images. Lordganon (talk) 10:16, December 9, 2012 (UTC)
  • SpanishSpy - He's done a really good, thorough job spotting mistakes in some of my more hastily-written articles that I would never have noticed. He has a good eye. KingSweden (talk) 03:28, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

Best Ban

This award is for the most deserving one year or more ban of 2012.

Nominations

  • Griffins3 - He wasn't really on for long, just a few weeks, but he was exceptionally rude, vandalized, and sockpuppeted, and appears to have caused the most pain this year. The Royal Guns (talk) 14:06, December 2, 2012 (UTC)

Good riddance to Griffins3, the winner - or, maybe loser? - of the "Award" for the best Ban of 2012! May he never grace our pages ever again. Lordganon (talk) 03:10, January 2, 2013 (UTC)

Timeline Awards

Timeline of the Year

This award is for the best timeline of 2012. Any and all timelines are eligible, provided that large updates have occurred to the timeline in the last year.

Nominations

  • French Trafalgar, British Waterloo - I just joined in January of this year, so anything new I've seen obviously happened this year. I did see Tb adding a lot to the timeline, and it's an exceptional timeline overall. Not to mention that finishing most of his pages make my brain hurt from lots of deep contemplation. Tb is very dedicated and this is reflected in his TL. IMPERIAL NY-SPQR 1Regen Flag Fegelein! Fegelein! Fegelein! 05:17, December 18, 2012 (UTC)
  • No Napoleon - This timeline, made by an anon years ago, was adopted by Chris this March. Since then, he's put a phenomenal amount of work into it, turning it from basically nothing, into a good timeline. Lordganon (talk) 05:53, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

  • Anglo-Dutch Civil War (Dutch Superpower) - by Vegas. It's a well-thought out war, and while unfinished, is long already. Probably going to be one of the "classic" war articles on this wiki, like King's Alaskan War article. Lordganon (talk) 05:53, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

Best Non-English AH Wiki

This award is for the best non-English alternate history wiki ts past year. The administrators of these wikis may nominate them.

Nominations

  • Japanese AH Wiki - New this year, by Kogasa. Not really all that much here, but as far as I know, it's the first new other-language counterpart that we've gotten in a while. I'm sure Koga will get back to it at some point, though this would more likely end up being translating his work off here. It's a good start, I figure, to things. Best New Map Game

This award is for the best map game created in 2012.

Nominations

  • Principia Moderni II - This game has the highest amount of editors contributing to it for many weeks now, some very creative scenarios and is looking to be even better than the legendary original PM map game. --VonGlusenburg (talk to Von!) 12:50, December 1, 2012 (UTC)
  • Medieval World - A rising map game of Principia Moderni caliber. Beginning even earlier than PM(900), this game has the capacity to change the world's history in ways that PM could not.AP (talk) 05:26, December 18, 2012 (UTC)
  • Axis vs Allies: Revolutions - Possibly the best game in the AvA series so far, this game has seen German-Soviet alliances, Japanese conquest of Asia, South American superstate, and pretty much everything else, and we dented out all the implausibility potholes too. With 64 days left, this game is one of the most promising games I've seen recently. IMPERIAL NY-SPQR 1Regen Flag Fegelein! Fegelein! Fegelein! 21:37, December 26, 2012 (UTC)

Content Awards

Best New Photoshopped Picture

This award is for the best photoshopped picture created in 2012. The creator can only nominate a single one of their pictures.

Nominations

  • A World of Difference World Trade Center Skyline
    - While I hate to nominate a single piece of my own work, I must admit that I hold more than a touch of pride in this photo. I took a concept art picture of the future World Trade Center and duplicated the One World Trade Center tower to appear behind 2 World Trade Center without the pinnacle, to create a new set of Twin Towers. (To read more see this

.) It took fairly a long time, considering I did the whole thing in MS Paint. IMPERIAL NY-SPQR 1Regen Flag Fegelein! Fegelein! Fegelein! 04:51, December 19, 2012 (UTC)

Best New Flag/Arms

This award is for the best fictional flag or coat of arms created in 2012. For reference see Category:Flags and Category:Coats of Arms.

Nominations

  • Flag-of-Republic by FirstStooge. It's nice by design and is sort of unique in it's own way. -Kogasa Symbol of Natori, Miyagi宮城県Flag of Japan 2012年12月01日 20:49:50 (JST)
  • Coat of Arms of Alaska (Russian America) by NuclearVacuum. A nice and intricate design, almost reminiscent of the communist CoA's but with its own capitalist twists. ChrisL123 (talk) 20:31, December 18, 2012 (UTC)
  • Coptic Banner SM by Fed. Came down to this one, or Kogasa's Australian flag, for me. This one just looks cleaner. Lordganon (talk) 10:50, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

Special Nominations

Lifetime Achievement Award: Writer

This award is for the best male or female writers across the entire lifetime of the alternative history wiki. Once individual wins this award, they cannot win this award ever again. No editor can nominate him/herself.

Nominations

  • Red VS Blue - He created the timelines We, Fidei Defensor and (the reason I am nominating him) Superpowers. His work is structured, intelligent, plausible (surprisingly so given the Romans survive) and fascinating. What other editor can claim to have written an in-depth study of the timeline then decided that that was not good enough and started re-writing in greater detail? One could almost mistake his work for a history website! So far as I am aware he has never been involved in any major arguments, nor is he particularly vocal in the life of the wiki. However his writing is first grade, consistent, brilliant stuff. David Rain (Sometimes...) (talk) 15:24, December 1, 2012 (UTC)

Lifetime Achievement Award: Timeline

This award is for the best timelines across the entire lifetime of the wiki. Once a timeline wins this award, it cannot win this award ever again. Nevertheless, this award can be held in conjunction with any other award.

Nominations

  • Superpowers by Red VS Blue. Superpowers is an amazing timeline, with a huge amount of details, along with great pictures and maps. It is one of the best timelines on this wiki, and it definitely deserves an award. CheesyCheese (talk) 01:24, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
  • Aztec Empire by Ed. This is another one of my favorites, which follows the history of the world after the Aztec defeat the Spanish conquistadors. Not to mention it advances space technology - one of my favorite things to see in timeline. AE is very impressive and has a fair deal of page, and I think it is worthy of winning an award. Nominations

  • Flag of Finland Russian America Expansion by Bofriu. The design is neat, and a nicely done Coat of Arms in the middle. -Kogasa Symbol of Natori, Miyagi宮城県Flag of Japan 2012年12月18日 20:49:06 (JST)
  • Flag of Gagaringrad (Venusian Haven)
    - by Nuke. This flag just seems nice to me, and while it seems like just another "vertical bar" style flag, it really has more meaning than that. The careful selection of different colors is also appealing and catches me eye. IMPERIAL NY-SPQR 1Regen Flag Fegelein! Fegelein! Fegelein! 00:56, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
  • NewUK
    - by Callum and I. It's a pretty ironic flag of a country that could have been, but was pressured into not forming due to international opposition (sort of like the War of Spanish Succession but without the war part xD). The flag was to represent Germany, Spain, and the UK.AP (talk) 21:08, December 23, 2012 (UTC)

Lifetime Achievement Award: Map Games

This award is for the best map games across the entire lifetime of the wiki. Once a game wins this award, it cannot win this award ever again.

Nominations

  • Principia Moderni: Anyone who has ever played this game knows how epic and awesome it was. Ranging from 1420 to 2012, no one ever saw the backwaters of yesterday becoming the superpowers of today plausible in a map game. And we all know how crazy these games get. Everyone worked together and we kept PM in order and finished the game. This is one truly deserving game. IMPERIAL NY-SPQR 1Regen Flag Fegelein! Fegelein! Fegelein! 03:31, December 1, 2012 (UTC)
  • Axis vs Allies: While it may not be nearly as popular as Principia Moderni, it revolutionized the map games. It started the Axis vs Allies series, and has multiple support pages. It has crafted a unique World War II as well as the cold war afterwards. The discussions were civil, peaceful, and well mannered. The mods weren’t challenged, and everyone had lots of fun. ~PitaKang
