Writer Awards

Writer of the Year

This award is for the best writer on the wiki in 2015.

Nominations

  • United Republic - Now love or hate the guy, but you cannot discredit the work he has done this year. This wiki at a point was severely lacking actual timeline updates and pages, but this guy picked up the slack greatly. And you know what? His pages and writing was actually damn good. - ..... Because I'm Just... Too... SSSWWWEEEEEETTT!!!
  • Mscoree - Despite being nominated here a few times Mscoree has never been able to win writer of the year, and I think this year after getting a timeline to featured status he deserves a nomination. Fritzmet (talk) 01:37, December 7, 2015 (UTC)
  • Vatonica Superised? He has worked extreamly hard over the last 14 months that he has been on here and made a pretty successful map game series and an extreamly detailed TL. Probably won't win but it's worth a shot. Awesome history 28 (talk) 22:34, December 8, 2015 (UTC)

And in a landslide, the award goes to United Republic! Lordganon (talk) 15:46, February 11, 2016 (UTC)

Best New Contributor

This award is for the best new contributor to the wiki in 2015. In order to be eligible their joining date must be in 2015.

Nominations

  • Firesofdoom: Firesofdoom is one of the few people, if no the only, who joined this year to make serious contributions, be it to map games or timelines. He may not be Upvote, but he managed to get almost 1000 edits during a stay of eleven months. AM, King of the Banat
  • Awesome history 28: AH28 is a nice person, he is a very enthusiastic person, and is active on chat and in map games. He's been here just half a year and already has 1000 edits. He is especially active in map games, and has become an important participant and sometimes even mod in map games. Vatonica (talk) 04:01, December 9, 2015 (UTC)
  • Tao64: One of the handful of new contributors who has surpassed 1000 edits. Kudos to him. War Ensign of Germany 1903-1918 Guten Tag. Sprechen Sie mit der Kaiser hier. Flag of North German Confederation (jack)

Best Copyeditor

This award is for the editor who has done incredible copyeditting work in the year 2015.

Nominations

  • Kostdanila Copied and translated the featured article from the Russian wiki

Best Ban

This award is for the most deserving one year or more ban of 2015.

Nominations

  • Saturn1257/Saturn120 Got banned WIKIA-WIDE for striking against TFOE as an alternate account. Although he later came back as Saturn1257, I think Sat is surely worthy of such a nomination War Ensign of Germany 1903-1918 Guten Tag. Sprechen Sie mit der Kaiser hier. Flag of North German Confederation (jack)
  • Mscoree We can all agree that this is the ban of the year. - ..... Because I'm Just... Too... SSSWWWEEEEEETTT!!!
  • Rancross2347  - Let's think this through, guys. Both Sat and Ms are controversial people who not everyone would want to see put up to this infamous title. However, consider Ran for a second. This is a man who trolled like an art, masquerading as a man from 2081, and never flinching from that story no matter what the circumstance. In the real world, he would be given an academy award for his performance, but here we must attribute this title instead. Such an ironic end to such an eccentric, albeit remarkable individual. May his trolling never be forgot I would like to thank Feud for making Borealia possible 01:23, January 7, 2016 (UTC)

Discussions

MS's ban was for 7 months, not a year. Sat was banned permanently. #PraiseRoosevelt. 22:39, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

Alongside that, Ran was banned in 2016. Sat is the only eligible winner.

Exactly, Ran should be crossed out. It is not possible. AM, King of the Banat (talk)

Voting

Winner...?

And the winner... or, more so, the loser... of this award, in a very tight race, is Saturn1257/Saturn120! May they never annoy us again. Lordganon (talk) 15:46, February 11, 2016 (UTC)

Timeline Awards

Timeline of the Year

This award is for the best timeline of 2015. Any and all timelines are eligible, provided that large updates have occurred to the timeline in the last year.

Nominations

  • King of America by United Republic - One of the few good versions of a very overdone trope. However, this timeline does it well, I think, and deserves a nod here in the Stirlings. ~ Scraw 21:38, December 5, 2015 (UTC)
  • The Old Boar Suffered - A good timeline that saw a lot of work over the course of this past year. Managed to become a featured timeline fairly recently. Fritzmet (talk) 01:39, December 7, 2015 (UTC)
  • Russian America by NuclearVacuum - A great timeline that saw an exceptional amount of work over the course of this year alone. It will certainly make featured status as it bears the quality, craftsmanship, and dignity that many timelines, featured or not, lack. Russian America surely deserves a nomination. War Ensign of Germany 1903-1918 Guten Tag. Sprechen Sie mit der Kaiser hier. Flag of North German Confederation (jack)
  • No Napoleon by ChrisL123 - A good timeline that saw a lot of work over the course of this past year. Explores an underdone trope and does it quite well. It also has some of the best media I've seen on the wiki. War Ensign of Germany 1903-1918 Guten Tag. Sprechen Sie mit der Kaiser hier. Flag of North German Confederation (jack)
  • Fidem Pacis by Arbolianus - A good timeline that has had a lot of work done to it over the last few years. Goes up to the present day and is one of the few TLs that actually have work done to it this year.

In a close vote, the win goes to King of America by United Republic! Well done! Lordganon (talk) 15:46, February 11, 2016 (UTC)

Best New Timeline

This award is for the best TL that was created in 2015.

Nominations

  • Grand Union by LightningLynx89 and Upvoteanthology. While clearly attempting to profit off of the Superpowers formula, I think Grand Union is one of the more interesting and expansive timelines created this year. "This is not your grave but you are welcome in it." 22:13, December 5, 2015 (UTC)
  • Land of Empires by wild. If you miss out the ASBness, this TL is actually really good. It's really interesting and has got 70 pages. Wild has worked crazy on this and is the best darn Tl created this year.
  • The Once and Never Kings by me, I am that Guy. I started TONK after I became disinterested in my first TL, No Great War, and I feel much better about this one than that. With over 50 pages, I like the point I'm at at the end of its first year! and I intend to expand it greatly in its second year. I am that guy (talk) 03:37, December 24, 2015 (UTC)
  • Scotland says "Yes" by Bryce3. This timeline is quite new, started on the 23rd of December, but it has been greatly developed over the past ~2 weeks. A new POD, set quite recently, in 2014, that is already reasonably extensive and also plausible. Despite its newness, I feel that it is deserving of this award and will be an incredible timeline when it is finished. - Supergamer1(Currently between sigs)
  • Loyal Italy This is a new timeline and it revolves around the consequences of Italy joining the Central Powers in World War I. It has a number of pages and has explores interesting possibilities and is still being editing actively by Person67 and Vatonica to make it a more extensive and better timeline. Person67

This award is for the best OTL/non-AH work that was created in 2015. The creator or principal contributor can only nominate a single one of their works. Best New Map Game

This award is for the best map game created in 2015.

Nominations

  • Diversa Pars - Created by Upvote. Despite not having been played in months, I found this to be a refreshing concept at that time, and still do - have had this in my note file all year for this, lol. Lordganon (talk) 19:47, December 4, 2015 (UTC)
  • The Ashes of Rome What I've seen of this wiki, this is the most succeful 'ancient' game. I, not being biased thought that it was a great game and wasn't boring at any time. Awesome history 28 (talk) 22:34, December 8, 2015 (UTC)
  • Dawn of War - By Feudalplague. This game features a new spin in the Cold War, featuring a third bloc to counter the USSR and US, and also had very interesting events take place, such as the ancient ruins from a high-tech civilisation, which made the game more fun and unique. -Seiga Miko THPW2 Flag of Europe 2015 December 09, 06:40 (CET)
  • Allies vs Axis Resurrection - By PitaKang. The sixth installment in the Allies vs Axis series, I believe it was a wonderful game for the time it lasted, centered around the world during the Great Depression and the subsequent events leading to World War II. The game had a fascinating chain of events, which entitled us to enjoy the rise of the Fascist and Communist ideological fronts, and the ascent of numerous Third World states; presenting a multipolar world with various centers of power.             Roman Crown   The night is dark and full of terrors.

Discussions

  • Only played in DoW of these three, and it really was fantastic until the aliens and ruins, which made the game completely implausible, completely to the judgment of the mods, and not fun. The aliens caused the game to collapse, and I'd say that it was two different games. The first game, with the three blocs of the cold war, was super fun, but the second, with the aliens, was horrible. -Vatonica

Upvoteanthology's Diversa Pars Map Game is the winner! Glad to see a fresh idea win. Lordganon (talk) 15:46, February 11, 2016 (UTC)

  • CoA of Francia TONK by me. The coat of arms of the Empire of Francia in my TL, The Once and Never Kings. Like the flag, the CoA uses the design of the Oriflamme. I am that guy (talk) 21:57, December 23, 2015 (UTC)
  • COA for MP final by Mscoree. One of PM3's better alternate coats of arms. Harvenard2 (talk) 00:46, January 3, 2016 (UTC)
  • Greater coat of arms of Shugarhai Union by me. Having talked about this coat of arms on 19 February 2015, this will be one of best colorful coat of arms ever made this year. Emperor Eric XV of Sweden - Sugar Rush Art Eric von Schweetz T C IM] Flag of Sweetmany
  • Greater Coat of Arms of Italian Empire (IM) by me. Same as Shugarhai Union, but this time coat of arms of Imperial Italy in Imperial Machines timeline. Emperor Eric XV of Sweden - Sugar Rush Art Eric von Schweetz T C IM] Flag of Sweetmany
  • Socialist and communist wreath of iceland by User:João "like rio" Dinis. One of the wiki's better alternate coat of arms. Admirable craftsmanship and quality and certainly explores the under-looked possibilities of a communist or socialist Iceland.

Special Nominations

Lifetime Achievement Award: Writer

This award is for the best male or female writers across the entire lifetime of the alternative history wiki. Once individual wins this award, they cannot win this award ever again. No editor can nominate him/herself.

Nominations

  • EoGuy Without him most of the articles on this wiki would be a mess. He's done incredible copyediting all 4 years and has got the 2nd highest edit tally on this wiki. Everybody whose bad at spelling owes this guy. Really helpful. Awesome history 28 (talk) 22:34, December 8, 2015 (UTC)
  • KingSweden - In my mind, KingSweden is one of the greatest writers on this entire wiki. He wrote my favorite timeline, Napoleon's World. This award is for the best timelines across the entire lifetime of the wiki. Once a timeline wins this award, it cannot win this award ever again. Nevertheless, this award can be held in conjunction with any other award.

Nominations

  • The Kalmar Union by Yan Hoek. Hands down one of the best written timelines on the wiki. And it passed 500 articles this year as well. I am that guy (talk) 22:07, December 27, 2015 (UTC)
  • Jill Clinton by Cgl1999. An all time classic, both in terms of interesting and realistic content and an insane attention to detail. Whether it is the hyperrealistic alternate photographs, massive biographies of figures in the timeline, or the far-reaching consequences of Bill Clinton's fateful decision, I cannot call this timeline anything less than "high art". —Bfoxius (talk)
  • Ætas ab Brian by C II R. One of our classics. I didn't realize it hadn't won yet. An interesting premise, to say nothing of what follows. It is one of the most detailed TLs on this wiki. ~ Scraw 22:23, January 4, 2016 (UTC)

Although PMIII has been the cause of numerous quarrels and issues, in my opinion it has been the benchmark of a new era for this wiki. It has been the grand finale of the PM franchise, and truth be told, in some ways, it lived up to its role.  And with the wiki reform probably following, I must admit that I will miss the days of PMIII. Therefore, it's safe to say that this map game definitely deserves the award, as it has broken many records, and, sadly, some friendships. SkyGreen24 12:08, January 6, 2016 (UTC)
