Andalusia, officially the Kingdom of Andalusia is southern European country. The name was adopted after the independence from the Abbasid Caliphate, in 929, based on Al-Andalus, the name given to Muslim territory in Iberia from 714 to 929. Relations were good with the Caliphate after independence, due to a strong religious proximity due to the religion of Andalusianism which had developed during the Umayyad and Abbasid reigns, and social reforms made by the Caliphate popular with the commons, improving further after the Enlightened Revolution, which removed the Arian King from power - who was disliked by many as he wanted to reinstate Christianity - established an elective monarchy, made further social and religious reforms, and made Andalusianism the national religion. Collaboration with the Muslim caliphates of North Africa resulted in the discovery of the Americas. The known world, at the time, was split between Andalusia and the Abbasid Caliphate in the Treaty of Algeciras in 1422. The country became a representative democracy in 1763, following the independence of Brazil, with universal suffrage granted in 1889. The capital is Andalusiana, and the most populous city Madrid.

  1. Mozarabic was once the widely spoken language in Andalusia, however, after the Reconquista, Andalusian was instituted as the new national language, which was maintained after the Enlightened Revolution of 961. The government currently attempts to keep Mozarabic from extinction by including it in the national school curriculum, offering versions of documents in Mozarabic, and giving it special privileges. However, it is important to note that Mozarabic is not widely spoken, and official documents are written only in Andalusian.
