Andrew II (Andrew Andreevich Romanov; 21 January 1923 – 28 November 2021) was Emperor of all the Russias from 8 May 1981 until his death in 2021. Andrew's rule saw the end of limited democracy within Russia as well as beginning of the war on terror.
Andrew was the younger son of Emperor Andrew I and his first wife, Grand Duchess Elisabetta Ruffo-Sasso. When Germany invaded Russia in the Second World War, Andrew and his father remained in Saint Petersburg with his Granduncle, Grand Duke Mikhail Aleksandrovich, and his cousin, Emperor Alexei II. Andrew, despite of his grandmother's pleas, enlisted in the Imperial Russian Army and fought in the Battle of Berlin. His elder brother served in the Imperial Navy.
In 1951, Andrew married Elena Dourneva and they had one son, Tsarevich Alexei Andreyevich. The couple divorced in 1959 after eight years of marriage.
