Armenia (Armenian: Հայաստան, romanized: Hayastan), officially the Republic of Armenia (Armenian: Հայաստանի Հանրապետություն, romanized: Hayastani Hanrapetut'yun), is a country localized in Western Asia, on the Armenian Highlands, in the Eurasian region. It shares borders with Turkey to the west, Assyria and Syria to the southwest, Kurdistan to the southeast, the Soviet Union to the east, and the Black Sea to the northwest.
