Arthur Seamus O'Neill MacDonald II, the son of Arthur MacDonald graduated from the South African Naval Academy in 1854. he then embarked upon a Naval career, but resigned after his five years were up. He became the MP for Cunningham after his father died. He was 102 when he died in 1938. He became the chairman of the politically dominant People's Social Party, a right-wing political party, until his death.
