Aruta is a member-state of the Federation of Japanese Nations in North America. The name is derived from the Spanish Alta California. It is bordered on the north by Oregon, to the east by Misuri and to the east and south by Mexico. It also shares a short border in the east with Texas.

The currency of Aruta is the yen, originally divided into 8 momme, each of which were divided into 10 fun or 80 xen. Today, it is simplified to 1 yen = 80 fun. The name momme is still used as a colloquial term for the 10 fun.
