On February 15, 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the president-elect, was assassinated by Giuseppe Zangara while giving a speech at Bayfront Park in Miami, Florida. Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak was also shot, but died days later on March 6, 1933.
