Alternative History

The Atlanta Falcons are a franchise in the National Football League based in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area. The team is currently owned by Arthur Blank and plays its games in the Georgia Dome. The head coach of the Atlanta Falcons has been Jim Mora since 2004.

The Falcons, long a moribund franchise, won the 1978 NFL title during the strike-shortened season before embarking on a 14-year streak of losing seasons and a 21-year playoff drought that ended with their first-round exit in the 1999-2000 playoffs. Since change of ownership in 2002, however, the Falcons have been the winningest team in the NFL, averaging 9 wins a season and completing an undefeated regular season in 2008 before falling in the title game. They won back-to-back NFL titles in 2006 and 2007, bringing their all-time total to 3.
