The Atlantean Empire was an empire, with the city Kleitow as capital, that ruled for a very long time over a large portion of the world, causing the world to be somewhere between 2000 and 5000 years more advanced than in our timeline.

Early history[]
In the beginning of its history (5000 BC) the continent of Atlantis was split into 11 nations: S’tketath, Telanow, Tuiow, Yoralath, Yarath, Ouwreow, Kodourow, Khunow, Selesow, Tradilow, Eavellath. These 11 nations had a similar relationship to each other as did the ancient Greek city-states, they spoke the same language (Atlantean) and had the same culture and gods.

The year of unification[]
In the year 4318 BC the 11 nations of Atlantis unified into one empire, bringing their collective knowledge together to form the Atlantic empire, this year is known as The year of Unification and is Year One on the Atlantean calendar (the main global calendar), the Atlantean people kept mostly to themselves up until the year 4003 BC when Atlantis invaded the Iberian peninsula.da

Eastern Expansion[]
Atlantean expansion began with the establishment of several colonies on the Iberian peninsula. These colonies quickly began expanding towards each other. After a few years Atlantean expansion (which was always slow in order to give them more time to adapt) stops, the Basque Country and Catalonia are the only areas still left independent on the peninsula. The local population attempted to stop Atlantean expansion by creating small military bases, proving the saying that a common enemy can cause enemies to unite. Eventually after about two months the Atlanteans broke through and conquered the entire Iberian peninsula along with small parts of what we know as France and The Balearic Islands. They began conquering France, but the Atlanteans were not used to mountain ranges, so instead of crossing the Pyrenees they used their ships to attack (OTL) France and Italy. After a few years these were under their control and they also decided to invade the Alps which took nearly three years. At about the same time they invaded the north of Africa and conquered all the way to Sinai. The Atlanteans also set up multiple colonies in western Europe at the time and took control of the British Isles along with a large portion of coast. Early Atlantean control over Northern Europe
They controlled basically all of their eventual area in Europe, not a lot of interest happens in this time, only a few archeological remnants of this time have been uncovered. In Africa the Atlantean conquest continued eventually reaching the city of Jericho, the first city outside of Atlantis, which took nearly three days to take over. Spreading to the south and into middle east, they came across many small villages and even primitive kingdoms and cities, but none of them were any threat to Atlantis.

Western Expansion[]
The Atlanteans also rather quickly set up colonies on Cuba. In a very short time Cuba, along with most of the Caribbean, was conquered and the Atlanteans put their eye on the Americas and began creating a plan to conquer them. Only a few years later the Atlanteans attacked and in a matter of months they reached the Pacific Ocean and continued north and south. Later three colonies were established on (what we know as) the eastern coast of the US, who began expanding towards each other. After expanding to each other they conquered the Florida peninsula and began pushing inland but decided to stop after a few years, to make the people they conquered and their soldiers adapt. After a few years of waiting the Atlanteans decided to once again spread their influence, they began by connecting the two major blocks in the America’s with a three or four kilometer wide area, after a while they began expanding more and more until they controlled most of Central America and already moved inland. Plans for attacking South America were soon also made, but since South America is home to such a dense jungle, the Atlanteans wanted to prepare first. An attack was eventually stopped before it began, as the Atlanteans decided not to invade the Amazon and only conquered the coast and south, battles in South America were easy since basically no civilization had already been formed.
Post Expansion[]
Over the next 2000 years the Atlantean Empire expanded and took control over a large portion of Europe, North Africa and the east side of America. The Atlanteans spread their culture and religion to the people they control, who they call the Echmastrof (insiders). Emperor Methonow II decided to stop the expansion of the empire in the year 2013 BC and instead focused on unifying the empire and teaching all the inhabitants Atlantean.

The End[]
In the year 847 BC (3462 AA) a cataclysmic earthquake near the continent caused a tsunami and later the continent sank into the ocean. In a mere two days the entire continent disappeared beneath the waves. After the sinking of the capital, the Atlantean Empire began to crumble, the local populations started revolutions, ’the outsiders’, the people not controlled by the Atlanteans, attacked the empire on all sides and the regions and provinces of the empire began fighting against each other, a mere ten years after the sinking of Atlantis the empire collapsed.

After the collapse of the empire, many of the provinces became their own independent empires. Atlantean (the language of the Atlanteans) was mixed with the surviving local languages, creating the Atlantean language family, which included nearly every language in the eastern side of America, Europe and Africa. The empire was very technologically advanced (having steamships, primitive cars, air balloons, early small planes) and the locals adopted the technology causing the world to be far more advanced. The Atlanteans had a polytheistic belief system because of their power monotheism (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) never becomes as popular, Christianity and Islam are never even invented. In the year 1000 the scientific advancements cause atheism to become the most popular.

The Atlanteans had a very complex mythology with a lot of gods, demigods and demons. But there are, as in most mythologies, a few more important than the other ones, namely: Xadow, the creator of everything; Igynath, goddess of life; Lonow, god of death; Etath, goddess of destruction; Idesow, god of creation. All the other hundreds of gods are less important and usually a single temple is used to pray to as many as ten deities at a time.
Creation Story[]
In Atlantean mythology, in the beginning Xadow was all that was, Xadow was a genderless, limitless and lonely god, and because he was so lonely he decided to make the ’four secondary deities’, Igynath, Loonow, Etath, Idesow. But even these got lonely so they began creating the other gods, who eventually created the solar system, all the gods began living in the sun (the Atlanteans were aware that the sun was in the middle of the solar system).
Administrative Division[]
The Atlanteans split their empire in several ways, but instead of using the Atlantean word here we will
use a literal translation. First, the empire is split into the ‘Center’ (Atlantis) and the ‘Edges’ (the rest). The center was not further divided but the edges were. The edges were split into four ‘areas’: Zarath, Zuchow, Karath, Kuchow. These areas were split further into regions, which were split into provinces, which were split into sectors and finally, those were split into sections, which are basically agglomerations.
