Australia and Oceania, also known simply as Oceania, is a continent situated between Asia and the Pacific ocean. The population is estimated to be around 178 million, making Oceania the least populated continent in the world. It consists of 15 sovereign states (8 of which are entirely in Australia and 6 entirely in Oceania) and one oversees territory.
History[]
Pre colonial[]
Australia[]
Indigenous Australians are the original inhabitants of the Australian continent and nearby islands who migrated from Africa to Asia c. 70,000 years ago and arrived in Australia c. 50,000 years ago. They are believed to be among the earliest human migrations out of Africa. Although they likely migrated to Australia through Southeast Asia they are not demonstrably related to any known Asian or Polynesian population. There is evidence of genetic and linguistic interchange between Australians in the far north and the Austronesian peoples of modern-day New Guinea and the islands, but this may be the result of recent trade and intermarriage.
They reached Tasmania c. 40,000 years ago by migrating across a land bridge from the mainland that existed during the last ice age. The Torres Strait Islanders are indigenous to the Torres Strait Islands, which are at the northernmost tip of Kingsland near Papua New Guinea. The earliest definite human remains found in Australia are that of Mungo Man, which have been dated at c. 40,000 years old.
Melanesia[]
The original inhabitants of the group of islands now named Melanesia were likely the ancestors of the present-day Papuan-speaking people. Migrating from Southeast Asia, they appear to have occupied these islands as far east as the main islands in the Solomon Islands archipelago, including Makira and possibly the smaller islands farther to the east.
Micronesia[]
Micronesia began to be settled several millennia ago, although there are competing theories about the origin and arrival of the first settlers. There are numerous difficulties with conducting archaeological excavations in the islands, due to their size, settlement patterns and storm damage. As a result, much evidence is based on linguistic analysis.
Polynesia[]
The Polynesian people are considered to be by linguistic, archaeological and human genetic ancestry a subset of the sea-migrating Austronesian people and tracing Polynesian languages places their prehistoric origins in the Malay Archipelago, and ultimately, in Taiwan. Between c. 3000 and 1000 BCE, speakers of Austronesian languages began spreading from Taiwan into Island Southeast Asia, as tribes whose natives were thought to have arrived through South China c. 8,000 years ago to the edges of western Micronesia and on into Melanesia.
European colonisation[]
Australia[]
Eutropius Lascaris was the first European to discover Australia, while trying to reach the Bali Kingdom. Thus making the Byzantine Empire the first European nation to reach Australia and Oceania. Byzanties wanted to counter the Catholics in Western Europe, thus making the entirety of Australia the colony of Nea Anatolia (New Anatolia). This, however, did not last for long. Other European powers also started forming new colonies on the Australian land. Dutch explorer Willem Janszoon landed on the Cape York in 1606. The new colonies from the Dutch, Britsh and Spanish soon followed.

Conflict[]

Each year the territorail claim of Nea Anatolia became more violated, especialy around the areas of Kimberly, Gold Coast, Jamesland, Tasmania and Northern Australia (modern day names for these regions). Little conflicts were occuring every now and then, with the most significant being the siege of the Australite port of Notia Athena (modern day Geraldton) by the British navy in Western Australia. Another conflict broke out in Koilada ton Kyknon (modern day Swan River City), triggering the First Wave of Australian wars.
First Wave of Australian wars (1627-1735)[]
Western Front[]
Koilada ton Kyknon fell to Britain in just four years, thnaks to the efforts of the Mandurah para millitary organistaion. Much of the Byzantine focus was then relocated to the Gold Coast region, several wars were fought, many of which were inconclusive. In 1728, In an attempt to reduce the violence between the Greeks and the British, the Republic of Gold Coast was created, with Greek and English as the official languages.
Swania did face the problem of separatist states, particulary with North and South Welsh republics in Wheabelt and the Scottish republic of Gascoyne. The North Welsh Republic proved to be the most serious problem of these as it was incoporated into Swania as late as 1713. Otherwise, Swania expanded greatly, all the way to the modern day provinces of Loenora, Wiluna and even Pilbara. In 1651, they arrived in the territory of modern day Sophiahafen, which was the time controlled by Spain. Few wars were fought bnetween the two Empires, of which the most significant was the war over the Tierra Roja peninsula (modern day Fischadlernest). The two sides signed a treaty, in which the British took control over the modern day Sophiahafen and Spanish over the Piedra Caliente region (modern day Kimberley province).
Northern Front[]
The Spahish quickly expanded through the Arafura peninsula, conquering the enitre region in 1641. The expansion of Las Bahias continued to the east and south, until the Spanish Empire reached Agios Petros, in the First Peter's war the Byzantines won, keeping Agios Petros for the time being. Unlike most other European colonies, the Spanish cooperated with the Aboriginals, like supprting their uprisings in Nea Anatolia by suplling them with weapons and giving them more right within the colonies compared to the Byzantines.

Aboriginal[]
The indigenous people have been habiting Australia for a very long time. Some estimates show that they arrived as early as 49, 65 or even 75 thousand years ago. They consisted of many language groups and tribes, a lot which have survived to this day. They have unique art (as can be seen with Australian rock art and bark painting), music (instruments like didgeridoo) and a unique farming system, which has been passed on to the Australite and Bahian agriculture (although heavily modified).
