Axel Cäsar Springer (* May 2nd, 1912 in Altona near Hamburg) has been deputy editor-in-chief at his father's Hamburger Neueste Zeitung since 1935. Thanks to having asthma and diabetes, he doesn't have to worry about being drafted.
In 1933, he married the Hamburgian builder's daughter Martha Else Meyer. In the same year, their daughter Barbara was born. According to the Nuremberg Race Laws, Meyer was considered „Half-Jewish“. They divorced in 1938.
In 1939, he married Berlinian Erna Frieda Berta Holm. In 1940, she's pregnant with a boy.
