Bavaria

Bavaria is a former duchy, electorate, and kingdom of the Holy Roman Empire which later became a Freistaat (free state) in the Weimar Republic, Nazi Germany and the Federal Republic of Germany.

In German, it's spelled "Bayern" since 20 October 1825 when king Ludwig I ordered to do so, before it was spelled "Baiern".
