Alternative History

Blockbuster, officially Blockbuster LLC, also known as Blockbuster Video, is an American chain of home video and video game stores. The company expanded throughout the United States and, at its peak in 2005, there were 9,000 stores in the United States.

By 2010, during the midst of the Great Recession, Blockbuster sales declined. However, it never went bankrupt and is still fairly profitable, although increased competition from other retailers, notably Sears, Kmart, and JCPenney, has made Blockbuster have fewer stores than in 2005. Blockbuster currently has 3,212 stores in the United States. It only has two international stores currently operating, both in Canada.

Many of the store's locations are in urban areas. Stores in rural areas are often smaller. The company's headquarters are in Dallas, Texas.
