I like this time line a lot, as it is pretty good. I also see that this isnt your first time, and notice that I have read your Terra Nova article as well. I cant remember much as I believe I haven't kept up with it.

ANYWAYS, I would like to see this continue cause I, and whomever else, want to see where you take it.

For as long as I have been keeping track, Talk:1983: Doomsday always had the most users editing it. Now it seems that the new craze Map Game has taken it place. Looking at it now Map Game has had 10 editors in the last 3 days, compared to only the 5 editors who have been on Talk:1983: Doomsday. I remember the huge outgrowth of 1983DD articles that exploded onto this wiki in the last half of 2009, but now it seems we are hitting a drop in activity.

I may not believe in a real Alternate History, by I do believe in good fiction! This history is the backstory of a computer game I am designing for a competition. Go to my website: neogenerationgames.webs.com or go to my user page for more info about the game.

The POD: Galileo did not make a telescope. Instead, he made a weak laser with those lenses instead. Newton further improved it, and became so advanced as to make gunpowder obsolete in the West. The British used these lasers for military applications except at naval bombardment, in which cannons were still used. In the East, Russia gained the knowledge of lodestones(magnets) from the Orient. The War: The Russians put down an uprising in Ukraine, and about the same time the Ottoman empi…

"The Absoluteness of the Christian God does not allow for more than one universe."~me, Sam. The very idea of alternate histories is that I can change His story to My story. God, Who is outside time and space, will not allow this metaphysical relativity to create multiple universes. There is only ONE history, and everything else is fiction or revision.

Religion(especially Christianity), in the olden days, was never a hinderance to science but an advancement! Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday, Galileo, Matthew Maury--these were all great scientists and Christians! Evolution is just wishful thinking, indoctrination, with scientific wordiness. "So, something came out of nothing? Makes sense!"

Besides, the Bible is far advanced in science: 1. It mentions dinosaur-like beings 2. It says the world is round, not flat. 3. It disproved bloodletting. 4. Oceanic currents are in the Bible. 5. The north pole outwards has an empty space void of stars discovered recently was spoken of in the Bible. 6. The water cycle is in the Bible.

Sorry about that. I'm new. It's just that it seems unfair to to South Americans (Sudamericanos) and other North Americans (Norteamericanos,) to say nothing of the Native Americans, for people from the USA to always refer to themselves as the only Americans. But again,I apologize for that.

At 21:53:09 UTC on January 12th, 2010, a cataclysmic 7.0 earthquake devastated the southern/central part of Haiti, destroying a great deal of Port-Au-Prince. Currently, there are thousands dead, ports have been short down, and neccessary buildings such as hospitals, churches, and prisons have been decimated. I have only simple requests, if everyone could simply reflect on the terrors and not let this be washed aside tomorrow, or next week, or next month. Though the survivors might be thousands of miles apart from us, we still see the same moon, the same stars everyday. The people of Haiti are not alone, more than ever they need international relief. Though not everyone is in the adequate economic state to donate, nor does everyone believe …

    Making things up

    December 30, 2009 by SouthWriter

Hi, I am a writer in the seedbed of the southern confederacy of states (aka South Carolina). I once read a short paperback novel with a title "If the South had won" or something to that effect. Though I have never tried to write a short story, much less a novel, with that theme, I am not surprised to see that is a favorite alternate history subject.

I have always liked historical fiction, but it comes with the limiter that what your characters do must mesh with what really happened. If you introduce in fiction something that would inadvertently alter the timeline, then that section becomes a liability. This is a problem also in building a back story for science fiction. A case in point is the future of the original "Star Trek." Writte…

    • Mexico serves has a refuge country for americans (not necessarily a melting pot). The integration of gringos will become a reality but not except of turmoil and political and social tensions.
    • Largely untouched by nuclear strike.
    • Has to deal with guerilla warfare in southern frontier, due to the breakdown of central american countries
    • Has oil!!!, a commodity of large importance
    • Thanks to the maquilas and internal industrial development stands on good bases to develop.
    • Would look for control of the Caribean. Cuba too crippled in the short or mid-range to create sphere of influence.

    Unplausible stuff.

    • Canadian style goverment (Governor - President), not plausible. Would keep present presidential system. Already very powerful to deal with a m…

The external debt literally disappears. The debt holders, USA and European banks are gone. The international organizations that arrange the loans, International Monetary Fund, World Bank and Club of Paris also gone. This would come has a relief on the national budgets of third world nations. Money can be allocated to other goals. However, health systems, emergency welfare, disaster victims relief and humanitarian help must be financed somehow.

    First Earth Battalion

    October 24, 2009 by YNot1989

OK, before we get any further into this I just want to make one thing clear; I do not think the real First Earth Battalion as mentioned in "The Men Who Stare at Goats," is anything more than a bunch of PTSD Nam Vets spinning their delusions to any and all who will listen; and at best the finest example of military desperation after the disaster that was the Viet Nam War. Having said that, I am proposing the creation of a TL, based on these military projects, with the POD being that they actually work. The implications of a US military with a Psychic special operations devision are staggering, and I just want some input on how such an ATL would be played out.

    Fascist Britain

    August 31, 2009 by Phippss

I have an idea that the British Union of Fascists gained popularity during the early 1930's and won the 1935 General Election. The party was led by Sir Oswald Mosley, someone who would go to great lengths to secure peace with his friend Adolph Hitler. This would have led to a very different WW2 with endless possibilities. This is my first real idea and im not too sure where to go with this but at first i just want to gather what people think about. But i bet i would get bored of setting things up after 2 hours. so any thoughts?

    Soviet Defeat

    July 31, 2009 by Buk5

I am currently writing a timeline called Soviet defeat, where zhukov's death in the purges leads to a cold war between America and Nazi Germany.

Unlike other TLs on Nazi victories, i intend to fully develop this TL, with insights into Culture, architecture, religion, politics and the like.

So, anyhelp is welcome. Buk5 13:12, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

OK, most people know that assassination of Franz Ferdinand by Gavrilo Princip was what caused the domino effect that sparked WWI in Europe. What most don't know is that Ferdinand was only killed because Princip, after an initial unsuccessful assasination attempt, just happened to be at a sandwich shop for an after-assassination bite to eat. Had Princip decided to go to a different venue, and thus not happening along Ferdinand's rout. WWI may have never taken place as it did, if at all. I am toying with the idea of making this a timeline, but I know I'll most likely just spend a half hour on the TL, then get board with it. Any thoughts?

I'm considering writing a new ATL. POD is 1960 where Ronald Reagan narrowly wins the Democratic Primaries and is elected President. The idea is that a younger President Reagan would be viewed much as Kennedy was by the American public, but would shift the democrats more to the center right and cause the republicans to return as the liberal party of America. Reagan would escallate Vietnam as Kennedy did, and would choose to invade Cuba nearly sparking nuclear war with the Russians. In 1963 he would be assassinated just as Kennedy was and Johnson would become President, but would carry on Reagan's conservative policies instead of liberal ones. After a similar string of presidents as in OTL, just with a switch on conservatives to liberals; JF…
