Boris Karlovich Pugo (Latvian: Boriss Pugo; Russian: Борис Карлович Пуго) is a former Soviet politician from the 1990s. Born in Russia to Latvian parents, Pugo became involved in the Communist Party in the 1960s. He remained in politics until the late 1990s.

Pugo gained international attention in the late 2000s when he came forward about a failed coup against Mikhail Gorbachev in August 1991 (a day before the signing of the New Union Treaty). The coup hoped to remove Gorbachev, remove his reforms, and revert the Soviet Union back into a communist state. The coup fell apart when several members died in a plane crash on August 19, 1991.
