Timeline: Cabotia and Brasil

Africa · Asia · Australia · Brasil · Cabotia · Europe · Neptunia

This continent crosses the Equator toward the southern hemisphere. Known in OTL as South America, Brasil was inhabited for at least the last 10,000 years. In 1500, Brasil was discovered by the Portuguese, who claimed it.

The land, originally called the Island of Vera Cruz (Island of the True Cross) by Portuguese explorer Pedro Álvares Cabral, was later explored by Ferdinand Magellan, who discovered that it was a new continent.

While some people claim that the name comes from Hy-Brazil, a mythical island described by the Celts, most probably the name comes from brasilwood, the first crop exploited by the Portuguese in that continent.

The Portuguese, the Dutch and the English further explored the continent and settled and displaced several native cultures, while other cultures survided, being the base of the two modern states of *Tawantinsuyo and *Araucania.
