The Empire of Brazil is an imperial constitutional monarchy located in South America. It is one of the largest states to still be considered an "empire", or a state ruled by an emperor, and the imperial state with the longest period of uninterrupted government. Brazil is one of the largest countries in the world by both total area and population. Brazil is the largest country to have Portuguese as its official language and the only one in the Americas. It is also the second most popular countries for immigration in the Americas, second only to the United States in North America.

Brazil is home to some of the largest natural phenomenon in the world. The Amazon River is the second largest river in the world by length and the largest by volume of water. The corresponding Amazon Rainforest represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests. Owing to numerous different climates and biomes, Brazil is home to many unique animal and plant species.

Since becoming independent from Portugal in 1822, Brazil has been a major power in the Americas and has commanded considerable prestige throughout the world. It was frequently called upon to arbitrate disputes or peace treaties between other nations in South America or in the world. Brazil's armed forces were and are some of the largest and most advanced in the world and to this day Brazil maintains a force capable of acting in most areas of the world.

Owing to its enormous international prestige, Brazil maintains a powerful place in foreign affairs and international organizations. Brazil is often seen as a neutral player in the world, explaining its widespread involvement and ability to arbitrate. Brazil is considered a world power by many and sits on the National Security Council of the United Nations.
