Brunei, officially known as the Nation of Brunei, Abode of Peace, is a sovereign sultanate located in Southeast Asia, on the island of Borneo. The country shares land borders and maritime border with Indonesia and Malaysia, and maritime border with the Philippines. Brunei is one of the richest countries in Southeast Asia primarily due to its petroleum, natural gas and oil industry. The country is currently engaged in the South China Sea dispute with Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, China, and Taiwan. Brunei has some claims in the area, but has not stationed any troops or ships in its claimed territories.
