Religious Map (Fidem Pacis)

The distribution of Buddhism is shaded pink.

Buddhism is a religion and philosophical tradition based on the teachings of the Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, who lived around the 5th century BC. Although it is of Indian origin, today there are very few Buddhists left in the Indian subcontinent, though it remains the majority religion across much of central and east Asia, as well as Chinese East Ethiopia and the Vanaheimrian nation of Fusang.

In many countries it coexists with and complements other religions and philosophies, such as Confucianism and Taoism in China, Shinto in Japan, Hinduism in south-east Asia, and Tengriism in Altai and Fusang.
