The Socialist Republic of Byelorussia, more commonly known as Byelorussia is a socialist republic located in Eastern Europe. The nation was founded in the chaos following the Second Russian Civil War as the Russian Democratic movement had mostly collapsed following their victory. The nation was founded after the former Soviet deputy commander Georgy Zhukov restored order to the former Soviet republic.

Military[]
The Byelorussian military consists of the remnants of the local Red Army detachments of the Byelorussian SSR. There are fifteen infantry divisions and seven tank brigades. The Byelorussian Army has placed in service the AK-47, an assault rifle descended from the venerable Fedorov Avtomat. It had been developed by the Russian arms manufacturer Mikhail Kalashnikov with the aid of a few German rifles smuggled in from the German puppet state of Slovakia. They also have handful of a medium tank of Ukrainian design based on abandoned Soviet plans for a tank called the T-34. This tank is known as the T-1, and Byelorussian tankers have praised it for it's simplicity and the reliability of it's design. Thankfully the Byelorussian mechanized wing is well-supplied with petrol thanks to Ukrainian oil fields.
Government[]
The Byelorussian government is a Socialist presidential republic ironically modelled as much on the American government as the government of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Byelorussia, which the current government succeeded following its collapse during the Soviet Union's collapse in 1938. The Premier is the head of state, and is directly elected by the people. The Chief Secretary of the Supreme Soviet is chosen from the ranks of the Supreme Soviet. The Supreme Soviet, unlike that of the former Soviet Union, is also directly elected by the people. The three national political parties are the Conservative Party that advocates returning to the stronger government of the past, the Reform Party that naturally advocates continued reform of the government, and the Communist Party that advocates a return to full Stalinist Communism. The Communist Party has only a bare minimum of support in the Supreme Soviet, and has never elected a Premier in the entire history of the independant Byelorussia. The Byelorussians have established a new security agency to replace the fledgling NKVD that was destroyed following the Soviet Union's collapse in 1938. The new agency, the Komitet gosudarstvennoy bezopasnosti (Committee for State Security, also known as the KGB) was founded to protect the people of Byelorussia from threats both foreign and domestic. The current Chairman of the KGB is Alexander Lukashenko.
Religion[]
The largest religion in Byelorussia is the Eastern Orthodox Church, which came back with a vengance after the Soviet Union's policy of essentially enforced atheism collapsed with the Soviet Union in 1938. The nation of Byelorussia also has a considerable Jewish community, who have thrived since Premier Zhukov introduced the Religious Toleration act of 1940. The Jewish community considerably expanded since the Great European War, as massive amounts of former German and French Jews have fled to Byelorussia to escape the repressive policies of the Nazi regime. It also expanded massively when former Soviet soldiers started pillaging Ukrainian Jewish communities in the chaos caused by what is erroniously called "the Second Russian Civil War". At least 19% of Byelorussia's population is Jewish. A considerable, but smaller, amount of German Catholics would flee to Byelorussia via the nations of the Grand Duchy of Courland and Galicia.
Economy[]
The Byelorussian economy has remained mostly state-controlled, and has been referred to as "Soviet-style". This was decided as an effort to restore economic stability quicker in the years following the eruption. The regulations have been slowly loosened over the years as the economy slowly rebuilt, and many industries have privately owned companies competing with government-controlled companies. The privatization was done slowly to avoid the rampant corrupt in the neighboring Russian Republic. A recent law passed in ---- allows the creation of labor unions in even the remaining state-controlled companies. These unions are highly regulated to prevent the level of abuse commonly seen in the Russian Republic. The Byelorussians have assisted in the refinement of Ukrainian oil is exchange for a discount on said oil. However the Ukrainians have been recently developing their own refining facilities, making the refinement industry take a dive in Byelorussia. The Byelorussians have begun investing heavily in the local electronics industry, aiming to corner the market in the Russian Forum. The Byelorussians had created the first household computer of Eastern Europe.
International Relations[]
The Byelorussians have good relations with their Russian Forum neighbors. They especially have good relations with the Russian Republic, as there is a considerable Russian community in Byelorussia. relations have chilled over the so-called Russian Mafia. They also have good relations with Ukraine, as there is a symbiotic relationship regarding Ukrainian oil and food. There is distrust for the so-called Holy Russian Empire, but relations are still good. Their relations with Galicia are especially friendly, as the Galician are the source of most of the black market German weaponry.
