The empire ruled on Greece, Turkey and Levant at his apex.
The golden era in the 16th Century saw a revival of Ancient art and culture throughout all of Europe.
Ruled by the Palailogos dynasty since 1259, the empire thrived and prospered through the ages.
Its legacy is still present in the form of the Byzantine Republic.
