CSTimeline

Caesar's Skull is a timeline centered on a surviving Gaul, the ramification of Julius Caesar's death at Alesia. Roman history follows a moderately more eastern focused trajectory and manifold changes ripple through Europe and worldwide.

A Morbid Butterfly[]

“I want to force Ceasar back on the same road [he] himself built. It's movement which uses the the pretext of the free goods and men to accelerate the orders of the empire, which stangles us to satisfy its ambition. In my father's memory, I will realize the magic he wanted to create: to chase the Germans and Romans out of Gaul.” - apocryphal Vercengetorix

The counterfactual world of Caesar’s Skull welcomes you, dimensional traveler. Here you will find a familiar yet radically different place from your own, with cruelty and heroism abounding. Here you will discover great powers dominating the oceans from the Wabanaki shores, you will see the Runantinsuyu, the successors of Tawantinsuyu, blossom in the absence of Iberian gold lust and thus lust after their own dogmatic growth. A Celtic culture and language abounds in Western Europe and Rome meanwhile finds its demise a century early compared to Our World.

Caesar’s skull, buried somewhere in the fields of Gaul, luring treasure hunters, has poured from it world shaping changes via a morbid butterfly.

Runantinsuyu[]

Runantinsuyu is the predominant power in Brasilia and one of the wealthiest nations in the world. The successor to Suqtantinsuyu (The Six Provinces) itself the successor of the wildly powerful Tawantinsuyu (The Four Provinces), the Kingdom of Runantinsuyu (Provinces of Runa, or Provinces of the People) has witnessed little competition on the continent, especially the Procellaric Ocean side. The Kingdom bore the fruits of trade relations with the nations of the northern hemisphere and particularly a bouncing global trade via Japan in one direction and England and Ireland in the other. Runantinsuyu has also prospered as a consistent neutral player in global affairs, in no small part due to its relative geographic isolation from the competing powers on the world stage, while this has not prevented plenty of domestic and localised continental conflicts. Runantinsuyu transitioned over the 1830s as a relatively stable authoritarian monarchy to a constitutional one, which it remains today.

Runantinsuyu has a high-income economy, and ranks very high in the Human Development Index. It is among the most economically and socially stable nations in Brasilia, leading in rankings of competitiveness, per capita income, globalisation, state of peace, economic freedom, and low perception of corruption. The country also ranks high regionally in sustainability of the state, democratic development, and has the lowest homicide rate in the Western Hemisphere after Abenakia. Runantinsuyu is rich in mineral resources, especially copper and lithium. It is thought that due to the importance of lithium for batteries for electric vehicles and stabilisation of electric grids with large proportions of intermittent renewables in the electricity mix, the country could be strengthened geopolitically even further than it already is.

Runantinsuyu looks poised to continue its comfortable global position as a World Power with a steady increase in wealth within the already wealthy nation.

Abenakia[]

FlagOfWabenakiaCS

Abenakia is a country located in Eastern Marckalada and is one of the predominant powers on the continent as well as a significant force in world affairs. Paleo-Marckaladans migrated from Northern Asia to the Marckaladan mainland at least 12,000 years ago, and European contact, trade, and integration began in the 11th century. The Christianisation of Abenakia occurred via Nordish and Hibernian Missionaries and altered the path of the country in profound ways.

The Land of the Setting Sun, Abenakia has been viewed through an historical lens as the balance, or twin, of Japan, and their historical trajectory in mildly similar and presents a backdrop for the long lasting alliance the two states have held to this day. With first European contact by early Norse explorers and settlers and later via Irish and Wascon sailors, fisherman, and priests, the pre-Abenaki state, called variously Hesperia or Dawnland, bore the brunt of first contact via disease but also shared in the boon of technological and trade exchange. The Abenakians, monopolising the trade for furs, tusks, and timber, grew fat from its position adjacent to the Norse, the Irish, Gallish, and the English. The establishment of Anglo-Irish settlements in the 16th century amplified a cultural renaissance but also led to the Sunset Invasion and follow-up Transatlantic Wars.

Wabanaki-People

Abenakia officially formed as a confederation during this period, from pressure by the English and the neighbouring Irikoa who were growing in might, to establish a permanent rivalry. The Confederation expanded precipitously and at the expense of small disorganised tribes to the south. The Expansion of the Thuleans from the western Arctic also had profound impact on Abenaki growth, as from the 1300 to 1600s the Thuleans displaced other northern peoples. The Abenaki would subsequently shift their focus to remain on furs and the newer slave trade, coming into conflict with rival powers in the Atlantic while stepping into the colonial game in the Sea of the Antilles.

Abenakia is a confederation of semi-autonomous states and stretches along the northern Atlantic seaboard of Marckalada. The country remains a trade power and also houses important global companies in its largest city and capital Odanak. It ranks among the highest in international measurements of civil liberties, quality of life, economic freedom, and education. A highly developed country, Abenakia has the sixth-highest nominal per-capita income globally and the sixteenth-highest ranking in the Human Development Index. Its advanced economy is the sixth-largest in the world, relying chiefly upon its abundant natural resources and well-developed international trade networks and prominent international companies headquartered in the country.

Abenakia is part of several major international and intergovernmental institutions or groupings including the League of United Nations (LUN), Organisation of the Atlantic (OTA), the G10, Marckaladan Union (AU), among others.

Timeline[]

Herein can be found a timeline beginning with the first overt diversion of the stream of time

  • 755 CE - Sunpadh a Persian nobleman from the House of Karen, led a revolt against Al-Mansur, with the support of Jibal and Tabaristan, including the Dabuyid ruler, Khurshid. Al-Mansur ordered a force of 10,000 under Abbasid commander Jahwar ibn Marrar al-lijli was ordered to march without delay to Khorasan to fight the rebellion. Sunpadh defeated Jahwar ibn Marrar al-lijli and would continue his march against Al-Mansur but would ultimately pay with his life. Sunpadh and Khurshid, both Zoroastrians, together carved out most of northern Persia and this realm would fall to Khursid, to grow as Parsistan. The Abbasid's would linger on in southern Persia, refocusing energy towards Khuzestan.
