The Republic of California (Spanish: República del California) is a country in the western-central North America. It borders Kasukēdo to the north, the Five State Republic and United States to the east, and Mexico to the south. The Greater Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas are the nation's second- and fifth-most populous urban regions, with 19 million and 10 million residents respectively. Los Angeles is the country's most populous city and North America's second-most.

Currently, California is among the wealthiest countries in the Hispanosphere, and has the highest standards of living of all the Spanish-speaking countries.

California became independent from the United States amid the Great Depression, which caused many secessionist movements in the United States. During the Second World War, the the secessionist Republic of California wrestled controlled for its own sovereignty. Japan recognized the independence of the Republic of California from the United States, and so did China, the German Empire and Bulgaria, becoming the "First Four" to globally recognize Californian independence. Soon, Russian Empire also recognized Californian independence, and by early Cold War, almost all the major powers had recognized California as an independent country. The last hopes of the U.S. keeping on to California was when the British Empire too, recognized its independence.

During the Cold War, the Republic of California underwent a cultural "Hispanization", where Spanish became the national language, in order to distance the republic from any association with the United States. At the same time, it also became a heavily-globalized and multi-ethnic nation, much like OTL California, attracted heavy migrations and investments from Mexico and Russia, as well as Asia, namely China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Central Asia and Kupanam. Unlike Mexico, prone to crime, corruption and drug-trafficking, California is often-known as the "other Mexico" or the "safe Mexico".

Additionally, California is also considered one of the capitals of modern entertainment, fashion, tourism and technology. Many famous technology companies such as Apple, and other major technology and computing companies are headquartered in Silicon Valley. California's coasts are also a source of tourism revenue, as well as the many ports. It is also home to Hollywood, one of the world's most famous entertainment industries.
