The 1994 California gubernatorial election was held on November 8, 1994 between incumbent Progressive Governor Dianne Feinstein and Democrat businessman Ron Unz. Feinstein managed to secure a swift reelection in the midst of the Progressive sweep of elections across the country.

A defining issue of the election was illegal immigration and the controversial Proposition 187 submitted by the California legislature to bar illegal immigrants from getting public benefits. Despite pressure from the party, Feinstein came out in support of the proposition, costing her much of the Latino vote.
