Canada includes, more or less, OTL Canada, except British Columbia and Yukon.

History

The war of 1812 shaped the sense of Canadian identity in the inhabitants of British North America. The United Kingdom granted more and more autonomy to the Canadian provinces and, by 1862, Canada was de facto independent.

During the Great War of 1862, Canadians were forced to defend themselves one more time from the aggression of the United States of America. While not particularly damaged by this war, the USA demanded that the United Kingdom would grant Canada complete independence in exchange to relinquish their claims on the Oregon Territory.

British Columbia was not part of this deal.

In 1867, at the peace treaty of London, Britain granted independence to the crown provinces of Alberta, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Québéc, and Saskatchewan; which in part, formed the Canadian federation, and established themselves as a monarchy with Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland as their own monarch.

Political Divisions

Canada is divided into eight provinces and one territory, each one with a great deal of autonomy in local matters.

The provinces are:
