Carlos Andrés Pérez Rodríguez (27 October 1922 - 25 December 2010), also known as CAP, was a Colombian politician, best known for serving as President of Colombia from 1974 to 1978. The Colombian economy grew dramatically during his Presidency thanks to the windfall of oil revenues and commensurate welfare and social spending, but the early stages of the Brazilian War also began towards its end. Due largely to the domestic prosperity and nostalgia for the prewar years and cultural renaissance in Colombia, the Presidency of Pérez is generally highly regarded.
