Chaldea is a landlocked nation in Central Mesopotamia. It is considered by much the "centre of culture on the Middle East", as historical re-builtment and the Modern Renaissance are stronger there than on any other place of Mesopotamia (the re-builtment of Babylon, including the Ishtar Gate is a great example of that). It also is on constant struggle with the nearby rump Republic of Iraq (since Baghdad is owned by them in an awkward peninsula that stretches into Chaldean territory), and Shiite Persia, (because of it's treatment of Zoroastrians, an important minority of Chaldea, and because the Shiites own the area of Sumer, which Chaldea claims).

Sumer is a region on southern Mesopotamia, part of Persia. The historical cities of Kish, Nippur, Ur, Uruk and Eridu are located there, and it once gave the area of Mesopotamia access to Arabia and the Persian Gulf. Chaldea claims it as an integral part of it's history and religion. However, the Shiites also have a reason to own Sumer.
